At about 5 minutes, with the water they're pumping... down here in our area (Eagle Ford Shale in SW TX) they don't drill a water well where they're drilling anymore... they lay 6-8 inch flat rubber (firehose) hose and run water out to the rigs that way-- run that hose for MILES and pump from one central big water well, or pump it from town water wells. They don't even dig slush pits around here anymore... set up a bunch of them rectangular steel tanks on a single trailer axle, that the winch trucks lower the kingpin down flat on the ground, which picks the single axle up off the ground in the back, whole thing is a big long square steel water/drilling mud/cuttings tank like 9x9x40 or whatever... manhole in the back to clean it out. Manifold them together with hose to the mud pumps... mix their drilling mud and store water in them, the works. Really different from how they did it in the 80's for sure!
There's a big mega-dairy up in Indiana a ways north of the BIL's place, they've bought up and renting all the ground they can lay hands on within about 10 miles of the dairy, and they've pumping sh!t out of the lagoons for miles through soft hoses about 8-10 inches in diameter... they've even hired boring companies to drill holes under the highways to install crossover pipes so they can connect their hoses up to them on either side to pump sh!t out to the fields... they use booster pumps every so often to keep it flowing and the pressure up. In the fields they have another booster pump on wheels hooked to the supply hose running down the road ditches sometimes for miles and that pump is pumping the manure out through a drag hose to a big tractor-pulled manure injection rig... kinda like an air seeder but with big chisel shanks and big hoses from the distributors to the boots injecting the manure behind the shanks. One h3ll of an operation to see can't imagine how much it costs them to set it all up and keep it running!!! BIL told me that basically they did it because they had a fleet of semi's hauling manure to the honey pots and hired a bunch more trucks and STILL couldn't keep up!! Plus they were running all over h3ll and had a few wrecks from all the manure trucks trying to cross the divided highway (31) plus all the hauling on the county roads... just crazy! Later! OL J R :)

I spent my youth riding a JD binder pulled with an unstyled JD B, then shocking oats and threshing. My grandpa appreciated the help.
