watching this in March of 2024. Our 2002 Grand Cherokee is having Many wiring issues... on trouble shooting myself I made some issues myself that we didn't have before. I caused wire breaks in the driver's door stopping almost all functions in the driver's door. ( I have put a band aid temp. on those. ) on to the current issues: ( keep in mind the radio screen has died, and the Air bag light is always on ) OK, we can be driving and get a "flame out" and just stops running . It will re-fire and temporarily run for a while. The dilemma is what it would cost to troubleshoot the issues vs. what the vehicle is worth.. I can add that we do have a lot of "slop" in the key, and can actually pull out the key in any position...

Seat belt is a collision anchor.
I have a DRB3 and even then it's sort of hard to know what data to trust. I have a wj in the shop with a dead PCM. Bus diagnostics on drb are labeled as CCD, but the vehicle has PCI bus.. so I threw out my original diagnosis because I didn't trust the data. Spent hrs going back through the test to come back to the same conclusion.. PCM inactive. Found no power from fuse 12 in interior pdc to PCM/TCM/ASD/fp.
My maxisys ultra has the ability to graph pin 2 PCI data, so I would say no single scanner has it all.

Do you recommend that Foxwell scanner for the WJ? Ive been looking into the NT510 Elite for my WJ.

Oh and no CAN-bus on this old beast. PCI-bus is what you will find.

I always forget it's PCI even after reading it in the svc manual - thanks!!

Nothing comes close to the DRB3 and if you ever priced one, you will understand. The scan tools that you don't want are mostly anything new. The OTC Genisys plays well with the WJ. Other then that look at scan tools the were the "it thing" in the WJ area. Like the Snap-on red brick.

I was recently at my local dealer and they had an old drb3. It has a loud fan and they barely remember how to use it. I was trying to buy it off em but they said they didn't want to give it up because not many dealerships still have one. I'm not giving up 😂.
Either way I have heard the old Snap ons were pretty good with em. I may look around for one. Fortunately I've made it through many wjs without one but there are some features that would be nice to be able to do. Esp if my local dealer can't use their drb3 anymore...

@@VortexGarage The fan is really loud on my DRB3 as well. I bought mine 15 years ago for my 96ZJ. It was a one off year for the under dash mounted ABS module. Nothing other then the DRB3 wanted to communicate with it.

Does your foxwell read abs codes? Trying to diagnose my abs light on my 2000

Sorry it took a bit to reply, but I hadn't used this Foxwell on a WJ before so today I gave it a try - and yes, it does appear to work to pull ABS data. To help show what it can do, I made a quick video in response - ruclips.net/video/_eQwNn7TGcU/видео.html
Also noted in this video's description, there's a possible alternative also via WJ Diag, while not made for V8 WJs, it apparently can access ABS data as well. May be a tad clunky, and requires and android device and an OBD2 bluetooth dongle, but it is a cheaper alternative that may work.
