Thumbs up! I was born and raised in Chicago and was aware of the club but never got the chance to visit. I'm now about 90 miles southwest of Chi-town so seeing it may still be in my future at age 62. Thanks for sharing - Paul
This is a fantastic layout & I would love to see it, you ran around the layout so fast with your camera that no one could see what you had. Do it again & SLOW down & how about doing it during a running session.
+Matt Jenkins (vwgolfer187) interesting points ,if anyone else wants to learn about how to build a model railroad layout and scenery try Pycanta Model Railroaders Protocol (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my brother in law got great results with it.
+Matt Jenkins (vwgolfer187) hey ,if anyone else wants to uncover model railroad track layouts try Stiklind Model Train Fixer (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my neighbor got great success with it.
Thanks for the glimpse. I used to visit that place when I was a kid in the late sixties and early seventies. (That is, if it is still located in the basement under the shops across from the train station.) It looks pretty much as I recall.
Nice tour, but for the love of god man, slow down and let the viewer take in some of the scenes. You rushed through the layout like your ass was on fire...
dexterdog62 Most people don't like 30 - 40 minute videos. Check out other videos of the layout if you want detail shots. This was just for an idea of the size and track layout .
+NSmodeler24 Then several videos that are short with enphasis on each area would be best with a layout this size. That way they can be watched at leisure and see how and why things were built. Basically, one area, one video. And you could put a camera on a power unit and run it around the track to show signals and such.
It looks great but the photographer must br in one hell of a hurry - everything is just a blur - you are moving the camera far to fast. Cut the speed by half so that I can examine the track layout
We always visit this great layout during the O scale show in Chicago held in April. I wish the video photographer had taken more time to shoot this layout and not made me "seasick"
OMG slow down the freaking camera movement! I felt like I was on a crab boat in the Bering Sea in a storm! Layout looks nice but I had to bail out without seeing it all :/
what it the average time it would take to do a full lap around the layout on the main? and i will definitely have to go check this place out im not too far away from it in Huntley Thanks for Sharing!
Hey this is my club layout.... how often do you come there? I will look for you.... I have seen all your movies and I have a great interest in trains and operation sessions, and modeling... I am very interested in meeting some one like you who is very active in the hobby. thanks for posting
I just recently joined the EMRRC. I won't be active until the summer when I move up to the area (I'm in Springfield right now). I can't wait to actually get to check this out in person!
Great looking layout !!! Reminds me a bit of ours (The Buffalo Model RR Club). However, your camera man doesn't quite capture the layout in a true sense. If he just slowed down a bit, took his time, and not swung the camera around so quickly, he could of filmed the whole thing in a 12 to 15 minute video, rather than 10. JS
Layout looks good but you move too fast, we get dizzy because of fast movements, slow down so that a good view of the layout can be appreciated, this is constructive criticism only.
I have a question for you sir that I hope you can answer. In the club I would suspect that to operate you require your own locomotive(s) but do you have to provide your own freight cars? Do you guys just have a yard that holds a stash of cars member can use or do you bring your own in cases? Also do you have to provide your own dcc controller or will they have some available to you? Thank you if you could answer these for me
Nice once over, speed tour. Not everyone will ever have the chance to see this layout, especially this fast, so let's do a slower, more in depth presentation for Everyone to see the work done here.
Nice layout but you pan so fast, most of your video is a blur from one place to another. I would love to see the actual details of this layout. Please slow down.
I really had a hard time following your video. Sorry. I know it was seven yrs. ago, and you were most likely new at filming, but those fast movements really made it hard to enjoy the layout. Maybe you would consider another video. This time slowing it down so we can drink in the awesomeness I sense is there.

......That was one of the most biggest train layouts I've ever seen that was AWESOME
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa Chester !!!! Redo this SLOWER, so we don't have to take motion sickness medication. Promote the layout like you're proud of it.
Thanks for the video and vertigo. LOL. Elmhurst has a great layout. Seen it person. Great folks too.
Nice tour, but for the love of god man, slow down and let the viewer take in some of the scenes. You rushed through the layout like your ass was on fire...

lol i agree
I am from St. Charles. Now I'm in Virginia, retired military. I wish they had this club when I was up there as a kid.
Great layout you have at your club. Love the duel DC dcc control systems.
Great tour my friend.
It looks great but the photographer must br in one hell of a hurry - everything is just a blur - you are moving the camera far to fast. Cut the speed by half so that I can examine the track layout
Love to see a running day and such, having it all getting used, etc.
Hi Mate unreal lay out fantastic mate regards Maurie
AWESOME LAYOUT!!!!! Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.
Very cool model train set up.
• Cheers from Michigan
Pretty soon, (next month) my RI/SP Golden State Limited will be running . Getting more wood express reefers to add to the train.
Gorgeous layout! Abominable camera work... Pan, pan, pan, zoom in, zoom out, repeat..... Would love to visit if it wasn't so far away.
My god! It's mind boggling! I love the steel mill.
Quite a layout. Thanks for the video.
Excellent layout. Nice video.
We always visit this great layout during the O scale show in Chicago held in April. I wish the video photographer had taken more time to shoot this layout and not made me "seasick"
I could play with a layout like this. When you want to get Train Tarded this is how you do it look at a Layout like this.
Great layout but i suggest that you slow down the camera so that we can see the different scenes, please.
Very cool club layout man. I cant remember is you said the size of the layout.
Looks like you guys have alot of fun. Thanks for sharing.
Great video!
I love it, if I only had the room for our layout.
I've been to that same club sad that I didn't see you there
VERY COOL
What a nice layout! Where are the trains? What road?
OMG slow down the freaking camera movement! I felt like I was on a crab boat in the Bering Sea in a storm! Layout looks nice but I had to bail out without seeing it all :/
Cool, but you need to slow your panning down. I with Matt on the motion sickness.
i'll be building a big HO train layout later in the future
good video
One hell of rr. Please re shoot make it two or three parts. Video train going from one end to the other and slow down you move way to fast.
Impressive
Visited the Club 1999 and 2000 ... need to search for my photos I made :-)
Great layout! A question about your curved bridges - did you scratch build them, or where did you find the curved bridge products?
Looks like a great layout do bad you went threw it at light speed
So big I got lost just watching it. Haha
I have to make it out your way to see it in person.
pussy
you film-bombed haha
what it the average time it would take to do a full lap around the layout on the main?
and i will definitely have to go check this place out im not too far away from it in Huntley
Thanks for Sharing!
lone wolf I would say about 25 minutes. Ive had it take an hour on busy night though!
***** Wow that's crazy but it would be fun to watch with all of the long consists :D
Thanks!
Would love to actually SEE the layout... Gave up 1/4 way thru
Hey this is my club layout.... how often do you come there? I will look for you.... I have seen all your movies and I have a great interest in trains and operation sessions, and modeling... I am very interested in meeting some one like you who is very active in the hobby. thanks for posting
WOW!! Impressive!!
Brendan Berry Hey Brendan. Only up in Chicago during the school year. I usually make it down there about once a week.
I just recently joined the EMRRC. I won't be active until the summer when I move up to the area (I'm in Springfield right now). I can't wait to actually get to check this out in person!
I could not keep watching this, way too much motion for me! Please slow down!!!
Great looking layout !!! Reminds me a bit of ours (The Buffalo Model RR Club). However, your camera man doesn't quite capture the layout in a true sense. Cool
I first I couldn't hear anything then travel sick but! I did give you a 👍🏿
Try slowing down i got dizzy
So you were the one talking!
Layout looks good but you move too fast, we get dizzy because of fast movements, slow down so that a good view of the layout can be appreciated, this is constructive criticism only.

ExploreLiveSteam Cars, engines, and controllers are at the club that members can use, but you can also use your own.
Thank you sir I have always been wondering this. Thinking more and more of joining especially since you've answered my questions.
You need to slow down the camera as I had a hard time seeing the layout.
slow down the camera!!!!!!!
It was the whirlwind tour. He had a hot date to get to! lol
But agree totally!
C
nice!!! (next video - filming slow)
Hey, since when did you go to Elmhurst?
Need to work on your camera work. slow down
When shooting video SLOW THE FREAK DOWN. If we were at the site, perhaps a 60 second view of the layout would work. This is a wasted effort.
Do u know if non members are allowed to run at open house hours???????
Why were you so fast filming this
are you on adderal ? slow down and give us a chance to see the layout
Would have enjoyed a slower view of the layout or a cab view.
when filming a model railroad u should walk slower how can anyone see if its a blur
I'm dizzy...
You pan too fast and you don't give it time to sink in.
Beautiful layout, but watching video made me dizzy.
Nice once over, speed tour. Not everyone will ever have the chance to see this layout, especially this fast, so let's do a slower, more in depth presentation for Everyone to see the work done here.
Were you in a rush in this video? LoL
Nice layout but you pan so fast, most of your video is a blur from one place to another. I would love to see the actual details of this layout. Please slow down.
Does this club have a youtube channel ?
Matt Jenkins They do not, but multiple members put up frequent videos of action on the layout
Too Fast
Great layout, but had to stop watching, might need to work on your videoing skills
I'd like to see this obviously awesome layout... In slow motion:(
I got nauseous from the speed of your camera. Cut back on the energy drinks or caffeine.
Can get you four function decoders for 10 dollars.
No way on the Dc and DCC one way or the other.
Beautiful layout but your panning way too fast making almost painful to watch. Sloooow down please
lol I know that guy @ 1:10 I worked with him
Yeah, right. Liar
That is a really cool layout
Dude slow the viewing down you are making me sick therefore making this video unwatchable. I had to stop at 2:37.
I'm sick with these moving images
I really had a hard time following your video. Sorry. I know it was seven yrs. ago, and you were most likely new at filming, but those fast movements really made it hard to enjoy the layout. Maybe you would consider another video. This time slowing it down so we can drink in the awesomeness I sense is there.
You need to shoot in segments and edit together. Windows 7 has movie maker. You are waving camera.
Slow down so we can get a good look at what you are trying to show us.
Next time take it slow. Take your time.
moving to fast
Couldn't watch it! Filmed it way, way too fast! I wish I had read the reviews before I started "play". Have you reviewed this?
bad camera work
This would be a terrific video if you were not in such a hurry. You get sea sick just trying to follow. Total waste of time.
