I worry for the combination of furious lvl 3 plus dragon conversion lvl 3. If you also manage to throw on dragon heart and valstrax soul I can see some very stupidly high dragon elemental damage
Also, I think there's a way to get a similar, but lesser effect to having Dragonheart on the set is to equip each of the other Hard (Element) Resistance Jewel 4s on each of the 4-slots to get Fire, Water, Ice and Thunder Resistance 3 (you already have Dragon Resistance 3). Dragon Conversion will take all of those points and convert them to extra elemental damage. Granted, even one level of Dragonheart will outdo this, but you can use this method to boost Dragon Conversion's output with any element and while keeping your HP full. The last 4-slot can be devoted to the Hard (Element) Attack+ Jewel (the one that gives 4 ranks), and one of the 1-slots will be for that last level of (Element) Attack.
The fight ultimately boiled down to “how good am I at timing consecutive insta-blocks?” So after 6-7 runs it wasn’t so bad. As someone who uses almost exclusively elemental weapons, I don't even know what to bring to him. Switch axe especially I have no idea what to bring, as not only have I completely neglected my raw axes, but exhaust phial does absolutely nothing to elder dragons. Poison is probably the way to go.

If you're used to fighting high-level Afflicted monsters and Risen Elder Dragons, then yeah ^But MR 10 is well below that threshold of difficulty, so you're better off comparing her to regular Chaotic Gore, Gold/Silver Raths, etc. That's where she was going to rank from the beginning, same as the others did compared to the higher-level Anomaly Investigation fights
Yeah I actually managed to triple cart and fail the quest against risen Valstrax 😢, just once tho, I came back with my survival oriented gear set a dragon res gem & dragon res food, still managed to cart once but got em the 2nd try
The only thing i dislike about dragon conversion is that the blue scroll requires 30 hits for SnS to activate its effect. The bonus you get from the blue scroll either has a really long timer or it never runs out till you cart or swap back to blue.
Dear lord, this thing slaughtered me so many times before I finally got him. Between its crazy reach with its wingarms, the additional _orbital bombardment_ with its ambush, and that FREAKING NEW SPIN ATTACK, I needed to bring both Hinoa and Minoto with Hunting Horns AND two Healing Palicoes to win the first time! Unless everyone on your team knows him like the back of their hand, multiplayer hunts are likely to go VERY badly, as Risen Valstrax can easily punish even your mistakes. The ambush now seems to require THREE consecutive dive evades (run away from the monster, then do an evade) to get out of unscathed. The worst part about Valstrax (and Risen Valstrax's) fight for gunners is that he's only weak to shot damage in three places - the wingarms, which are fairly small and tricky targets to hit; the wings, but only when they're glowing; and the chest when he's charging up. As for Risen itself, the only bright point compared to its normal MR fight is that it sometimes does just one hovering wing stab rather than two in a row. Also, I think elemental is actually NOT recommended for either Valstrax. The Hunter's Notes are misleading - for the majority of the fight, most of his body will be wreathed in that Dragon-element energy, turning those elemental hitzones to 0. You want to go with a Blast or Poison weapon buffed by the Buildup Boost skill. Edit: Additional notes
With qurious crafting it’s possible to have Furious with dragon conversion. If it gives elemental raw for every point lost you’d gain 150 elemental for being in red scroll.
So this begs the question, if you combine Dragonheart with Dragon Conversion, which takes priority? On the Red Scroll will it drop to 0 even with DH activated or will DH activate and overwrite DC? Curious to find out, as I currently run Full Valstrax gear, excited to upgrade
I was under the assumption that we could get a +300 element boost if Dragonheart (LVL 5) procs first, and then the Dragon Conversion (LVL3) [factoring in the All Resistances +10 boon] procs thereafter.
This is probably the hardest fight in the game imo. Took me three attempts before I successfully slayed him while also clearing my self-imposed challenge of doing so cartless (wherein I reset if I faint); even with maxed out spiribirds and Mega Armorskins he hits like a freight train and gives you practically NO time to recover if he manages to smack you. Felyne Moxie didn't help at all in the first two attempts, but its failures at least paved the way for the successful attempt where at one point I literally knocked him out of his Risen state, while he was in the sky, MID-CHARGE.
3 pieces of risen valstrax gear for the lvl 3 dragon conversion, 2 pieces of regular valstrax + one dragon heart jewel for lvl 3 dragon heart will probably be the new elemental meta. Dragon heart raises your elemental resistances to 50 and dragon conversion converts it all to elemental attack. I was able to get dragon element up to 140 without augmenting any elemental weapon augments. Plenty of deco room for critical element, elemental exploit, elemental attack, and pretty much anything else dealing with elemental attack. My only issue is reaching high affinity, wish they'd add those critical eye lvl 4 decos already
For some reason it helped because I swear the times I ran away and came back it was either no longer in its risen state or there was another monster there too
The only monster that carted me 3x to fail and forced me to have at least 1060 defense. Forget everything you know about valstrax he feels slower than base/sunbreak valstrax but damn does he hit hard, so hard. Also took me a whopping 30 mins to beat with no carts because I was running for quite a while. I loved the hunt though
also collect spiritbirds, they are there to help you, seems like everyone has forgotten about them.adding a minute at most to the fight isn't bad at all.
One thing i have to warn everyone that do not use elemental weapon, his elemental resistance increases when he is powered up so stick with raw in the whole fight
looks like the idea is to use dragonheart to purposefully give yourself dragonblight which will boost your resistances to 50, then use valstrax soul+conversion to get massive dragon elemental damage, which is weird because the set doesnt give anything for element except conversion
Since my control stick is drifting like crazy, I'll have to put off fighting Valstrax and Vel for a while until I can get a new electronics cleaner to deal with it. I know full well this fight will be a nightmare as a bow/insect glaive main...
One word: Merciless Three words rocket powered uppercut Also he is so beautyfull, so blue and honestly the dragon element effect looks diferent and alot cooler
This thing was crazy. Had to completely redo my build just to get a little extra hp and defence in there xd. How ya dual blade build is doing crazy damage as well 0_o
Hopefully this is seen, but Hollow, I would really recommend you show the individual armour pieces next time. For example, it’s all well and good knowing the skills, but if the skills a distributed poorly among the pieces, or the slots are garbage, all the good skills in the world can’t make it a good set. Guides like these are helpful, and if you show individual pieces, and the slots, it’d go a long way to making the video even better!
Fights like this are why I picked up the lance…I personally do not find any enjoyment in getting 2 shotted, which is why I did not enjoy his fight beforehand, let alone the risen version, as much as I enjoy the concept of a rocketing jet dragon
What happened to the harder monsters being fairer like in world? When you'd face an arch tempered elder dragons, you'd die in two to one hits of course, however, it seems that the "arch tempered" of rise aka the risen are not that fair gameplay wise. When fighting arch tempered velkhana it was fun to fight most of the time due to the good openings and fun parry opportunities; now though, it seems if you get hit once you're dead due to the lack of spacing and time to recover
Monsters generally do more damage in Rise/Sunbreak to encourage players who keep getting OHKO'd (like these silly RUclips folks) to grab Spiribirds to buff their HP and DEF at the very least. If you're not running around with effectively 66% of your max HP at all times, it's much easier to not get obliterated by a single random blow.
@@JDude151 also encouraging wirebug positioning, superarmor/eframe/shield/counter attacks and switchskills and making defensive weapons like lance way more meta (lance is fucking great and deals tons of dps thanks to the monsters being so aggresive in late game, wich puts it at the level of other weapons). The game is pretty well balanced, but high skill demanding, wich is great for my taste

@@frenchyfrenchsilver1331 dats why furious works so well with dc
By my math you should dodge at about 2.5 seconds after the explosions from the ambush, it takes 4 total for him to land after those.
Far tougher than velk.
If you're used to fighting high-level Afflicted monsters and Risen Elder Dragons, then yeah
^But MR 10 is well below that threshold of difficulty, so you're better off comparing her to regular Chaotic Gore, Gold/Silver Raths, etc.
And then you get risen velkhana and that will change....
I can see a use for it with Blight Resistance
With qurious crafting it’s possible to have Furious with dragon conversion. If it gives elemental raw for every point lost you’d gain 150 elemental for being in red scroll.
So this begs the question, if you combine Dragonheart with Dragon Conversion, which takes priority? On the Red Scroll will it drop to 0 even with DH activated or will DH activate and overwrite DC? Curious to find out, as I currently run Full Valstrax gear, excited to upgrade
Even if they stack weres the lvls of dragon heart coming from mainly cause the deco is a lvl four ? And how meny lvls you putting in
@@Darkwarp1994 the risen Valstrax set offers 6 4* slots, so full Dragonheart on the set is possible
@@Darkwarp1994conversion is a 3 piece skill so can add 2 Dragonheart pieces and slot the last 3
I was under the assumption that we could get a +300 element boost if Dragonheart (LVL 5) procs first, and then the Dragon Conversion (LVL3) [factoring in the All Resistances +10 boon] procs thereafter.
You can go up to level 5 dragonheart if you want to. Add in resuscitate as well.
Crimson Glow gauntlets give you WEX 2.
When I was fighting this, I got bodied, but every time it turned to the risen state I immediately ran away which I never did with the other ones
For some reason it helped because I swear the times I ran away and came back it was either no longer in its risen state or there was another monster there too
Don't worry guys, there's always a solution to every hard fight.........It's called Minoto the Bait.
Beatt him 5 times while he beat me 3 times.
I gotta say practicing Redirection timing works wonders, swap evading all of his attacks was satisfying
I'm thinking I could combine lv1 of this new skill with frostcraft for some fun effects
So dragon conversion is pretty much alatreons set bonus from iceborne and burst skill from sunbreak in one skill
also collect spiritbirds, they are there to help you, seems like everyone has forgotten about them.adding a minute at most to the fight isn't bad at all.
Ya most of them don't even gather spirit birds and die.
… put some respect on Stun Resistance. That is the difference between being carted and avoid an follow-up.
One thing i have to warn everyone that do not use elemental weapon, his elemental resistance increases when he is powered up so stick with raw in the whole fight
This is a long shot, but can you guys do a new Gunlance build guide please?
looks like the idea is to use dragonheart to purposefully give yourself dragonblight which will boost your resistances to 50, then use valstrax soul+conversion to get massive dragon elemental damage, which is weird because the set doesnt give anything for element except conversion
Since my control stick is drifting like crazy, I'll have to put off fighting Valstrax and Vel for a while until I can get a new electronics cleaner to deal with it. I know full well this fight will be a nightmare as a bow/insect glaive main...
As someone who plays xbox I am SO hyped to fight this big beauty🤤😆
It fires mortars at you from space…this guy is insane
He looks so damn cool 🤩
Risen valstrax has immediately allowed the single most powerful dragon builds in the game to be made, maybe if not most definitely even raw to!
Yo what set are you using it’s so strong
One word: Merciless
Three words rocket powered uppercut
Also he is so beautyfull, so blue and honestly the dragon element effect looks diferent and alot cooler
Please tell me you saw the Malzeno VS Velkahana Turf WAR! its the Best so far!!
With this we can reach crazy numbers of raw dragon damage
This thing was crazy. Had to completely redo my build just to get a little extra hp and defence in there xd.
How ya dual blade build is doing crazy damage as well 0_o
Frostcraft + Dragon Conversion build when?
Hopefully this is seen, but Hollow, I would really recommend you show the individual armour pieces next time.
For example, it’s all well and good knowing the skills, but if the skills a distributed poorly among the pieces, or the slots are garbage, all the good skills in the world can’t make it a good set.
Guides like these are helpful, and if you show individual pieces, and the slots, it’d go a long way to making the video even better!
oh boy can’t wait to get orbital bombarded
Is that soon attack single hit or multi hit ?
Was holding hoping for at least the dragon blessing one slot sadly not this update.
When will you fight him rage, cotton and hollow
I'm still 30 MR short. It takes so long to grind MR it's painful.
Really fun fight
Are you playing with a ps5 controller?
Fights like this are why I picked up the lance…I personally do not find any enjoyment in getting 2 shotted, which is why I did not enjoy his fight beforehand, let alone the risen version, as much as I enjoy the concept of a rocketing jet dragon
This is a dereliction (can't spell it) elemental build. That basically just gave them a reason to mix it.
Is there new gems? I need some level 4 gem attacks, my soul is dying from fighting magnamalo in high rank for the Damm chest plate ;-;
Risen Valstrax fights like its got somewhere to be
Finally
Dragonheart jewel
What happened to the harder monsters being fairer like in world? When you'd face an arch tempered elder dragons, you'd die in two to one hits of course, however, it seems that the "arch tempered" of rise aka the risen are not that fair gameplay wise. When fighting arch tempered velkhana it was fun to fight most of the time due to the good openings and fun parry opportunities; now though, it seems if you get hit once you're dead due to the lack of spacing and time to recover
I think there's trying to push players to really utilize the wirebugs in these fights.
Idk what u think is unfair in this fight, the fight is completely reasonable considering how strong hunters are.
*Arch Tempered Lunastra enters the chat*
Valstrax confirmed a Pharah main
Unless they turbo buffed the elemental conversion from Iceborne (Alatreon set bonus, was god awful), I doubt that Dragon Conversion is actually going to be all that...
Those legs show promise though.
The 50 elmRes of dragonHeart+Dragon conversion..
Element's gonna be spicy😐
Yup if you stay at 80%Hp at least to activate it, also being able to survive without max HP with 0 elemental resistance against the same monster is a nightmare... However good enought against all monsters other than Risen Valstrax himself
What are the slots
This is one of those monsters where I straight up just search him up to see if there’s any reason whatsoever to put up with the bullshit. A straight up “fuck this” fight, to the point you just don’t want to play.
…I could barely beat risen teostra without losing my mind. You think I’m gonna fight THAT without at least a week of mental preparation? Hell no
It's super easy. Beat him in maybe 10 minutes. Though I did it with fully geared out Lance. Just poked him in the face until he died.
@@jobers5566 I play hunting horn and greatsword
The armor is so perfect, stun reistance, stamina surge, attack boost and latent power?, how is it so good!?
this came out on the 76th for me and if I recall it supposed to come out on the 7th so I'm a little confused.
Japan is a day ahead of us so for them it’s currently the 7th
so wait
how busted is this potentially w chaotic gores set
Can’t believe there are no new weapons 😢
