  • How to Make Your First Voice Over Reel at Home | DIY
    I wanted to share this because I just booked a voice over job with this DIY demo reel and recorded it a couple of days ago successfully. I am not an expert, tips are highly appreciated! Hope this helps you!
    Hello! If you have never been to my channel, I make videos about how to start a career in acting, acting exercises you can do at home, online acting classes, backstage casting, LA Casting, SF Casting, Casting Networks, How to get an agent, actors access, breakdown services, self-tape auditions, how to find auditions for free, is backstage worth it?, open casting call 2021, acting reel, voice over acting, audition examples, casting websites, filming setup, acting advice, how to cry on command, background acting and so much more! Please leave a comment if you have any questions or video suggestions.
    I made this demo reel because I had done a few VO jobs and wanted more but didn’t have the content. So I did some research on companies in the area and made my own commercials without saying a brand name.

      Can you please let me know where did you obtain the background tracks for these? Mark were they from other commercials or did you have them produced or find them in some kind of database? I'm not asking for proprietary reasons for proprietary reasons I'm asking because I want to make a voice over demo and get involved and I'm not sure where to find tracks like that.

      Also so sorry to beg you again but I guess what I'm not understanding is how understanding is how the demo is recorded to begin with. I understand I need a Mike but did you just use software and a computer?

    I typically use my gaming headset (it has surprisingly good audio quality) and mess with voices in my closet... and I thought I was crazy for sitting my closet until now haha
    Will probably get a proper mic in the future - but I'm mainly just figuring what I'm good at and practicing stuff. It's fun, but my family must think I'm crazy.

    I am trying to push myself and get over the fear. I've always been able to do voices and impressions I'm an aspiring animator and have my own characters and stories for the demo reel I can use.
    Besides characters, I can do animal noises like I can do a convincing puma scream and I also can sing. I think if a person can sing fairly well, they can voice act, because voice acting requires hitting different ranges and pitches.

      Hi Amanda, I think if you can film it at home and make it sound very clear, that is fine for your first VO reel. Of course, if you have access to a professional studio that is always best. You can always make it at home, get feedback and make it again. If you have a closet you can be in, the clothing really helps obsorb extra sounds.

  • @jebatman756
    @jebatman756 4 года назад +2

    It's impressive that you did that demo with a $70 mic...although if people actually wanna make a living off of VO, I'd say they need to invest at least a few hundred bucks in the mic, it being the most important part. An XLR mic with a decent audio interface and some rudimentary editing skills, since we're all stuck at home right now, we will have to edit everything. And given the situation, it's also best to put the demo together ourselves because if we get hired to do a gig, we'll have to at least bring the quality of the demo to the table, if not better.

    • @BelgicaPaola

      That's what I did in this video, I wrote my own based off of commercials i've heard. In the last 3 years it has gotten far more competitive to join the VO world. I primarily do on-camera acting now. You can start by doing what I say in this video and then submit yourself to agencies through their website. Not all agencies accept online submission but the ones that do, have a "get discovered" or "Submit to representation" tab.
