    Love so many of your products, and use them on a regular basis. One use case that I have is using action cameras such as GoPro Hero 9 Black with the GoPro Labs firmware. With that firmware, I can use a QR code to set timecode on multiple of those cameras. That would free up the TC-1 to be used elsewhere, and then I sync later in post. Is this something the Sidus App will be able to do in the future? It would be extremely helpful. Also love having the scratch audio track with the TC-1.

    This is great. Only thing that would make a slate more perfect is adding a colour chart to it so every shot no matter the camera, can be equally matched by the colourist. I know the sticks have colour but I think It’s important to upgrade that the way we have with timecode.

    • @DeityMicrophones
      @DeityMicrophones  2 года назад +19

      So we talked to a few colorist and asked them this same very idea. "Would you ever colors grade using the colors on the sticks if they were accurate and the right shades?" They laughed and said "heck no, slates get dirty bc they aren't protected in a case between scene/location setups."...

      @KevinMcKinneyFilms Год назад +1

      @@DeityMicrophones A colorist is going to say that because they don't want the slate to replace a real chip chart but it still happens when 2 cameras on set don't match and the only thing left to match are skin tones and the colors on the slate. Dirty colors can still be matched to each other, just not to an outside metric.

    Honest question: what's the use case for having timecode displayed on the slate (over having a slate without timecode)? If your on-camera timecode generators failed, then it seems to me that syncing manually in post is still a time consuming process, right?

    • @DeityMicrophones

      Timecode is not the only Metadata the TC-SL1 can display. But we will save that for a future video ;-)

    • @JohnAldred
      @JohnAldred 2 года назад +2

      Well, it's handy for cameras that don't have an audio or TC input that you want to match up. Drones, action cameras, 360° cameras, cameras that are physically out of reach of being able to plug stuff in, or you just have more cameras than individual TC units. You only need to go to a single frame of the clip in Resolve where you can see the timecode on the slate, enter that in for that frame and it's synced up to everything else. How time consuming it is depends on the number of clips you'd need to set, I guess. :)

    I'm concerned about the use of the Sidus app to transmit TC to the rest of the set. For the Sidus light app, everything disconnects every time the phone screensaver shows up, and you have to wait to re-power on everything. Have you made sure that the app will not shut down and stop working the moment the phone screen saver shows up?
