I try to see two sides. He clearly said he is advocating for the immigrants who have lived here for a long time. They have paid taxes every year. I do payroll, they do pay taxes. The government supplies them with a yearly temporary code to pay their taxes. Some have been living in America for over 10 and 20 years. Illegally? Yes, but they have been here so long and paid into the system, they are saying they deserve a chance at citizenship.

As a Mexican immigrant, if you allow millions of third World unskilled, non English speaking peoples into your Country then very soon the USA will resemble those very same 3rd World Countries. Before I became a legal Citizen, for 6 years I studied English and the History of the USA, I wanted to be able to contribute upon entering and not to become a burden. But many times I was tempted to break the law and enter,but thankfully my Padres taught me better, and insisted that I wait my turn. My Abuelo's words were always in my ear, He Would say, Nieto, el impaciente, "You have never committed a crime in Mexico, so why would You, as your first act upon entering America disrespect the Laws and the Citizens of their Country?" That was 27 years ago, I bless my Padres wisdom every single day. I still Love Mexico but, But I also Love America, daily I say, GOD BLESS AMERICA !

Citizenship is earned not demanded. My family had to wait because they did it legally, so every time an illegal immigrant gets inside the country, it's like line cutting.
My family and I too are immigrants, we have never use any government assistance until we got naturalized and became citizens of this country. Plus we went through the legal process for our immigration and we waited for at least 5 years after our green card to have our citizenship! I find it shameful seeing what's happening now!

I say give them all legal status, so they can pay a 40% tax rate, and start paying for the schools, universities, junior colleges that migrants and their children use and that includes all government programs they have benefited from, starting the day they arrived. But NO THEY WANT LEGAL STATUS WITHOUT HAVING THE HEAVY BURDEN OF TAXES.
I say give them a legal status that makes them the only tax payers from that day forward, but with all the benefits and rights of actual citizenship going to legal citizens only as a tribute to the country that took them in. Then they could see how it feels to be on the receiving side of what they're doing.
