Grand Opening of ILWU-PMA Maintenance and Repair Training Center

  • Friday, May 31, 2024 marked the grand opening of the brand new ILWU-PMA Maintenance and Repair Training Center, a $16.4 million, 20,000 square-foot facility built to house reskill and upskill programs for ILWU workers.
    International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) International President Willie Adams, ILWU Local 13 President Gary Herrera and Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) Chief Operating Officer Chad Lindsay were joined by City of Los Angeles Councilmember Tim McOsker, Los Angeles Harbor Commission President Lucille Roybal-Allard, Vice President Diane Middleton and Commissioner Michael Muñoz, as well as Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka along with LA Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho in cutting the ribbon on the new facility.
    The Port of Los Angeles took the lead in identifying the four-acre property for the training center, located adjacent to Pier 400.
