  • Windows on the World was a complex of dining, meeting, and entertainment venues on the top floors (106th and 107th) of the North Tower (Building One) of the original World Trade Center complex.
It included a restaurant called Windows on the World, a smaller restaurant called Wild Blue (before 1999 was called "Cellar in the Sky"), a bar called The Greatest Bar on Earth (which had previously been the Hors d'Oeuvrerie), as well as a Wine School and Conference and Banquet rooms for private functions located on the 106th floor. Developed by restaurateur Joe Baum and designed initially by Warren Platner, Windows on the World occupied 50,000 square feet (4,600 m2) of space in the North Tower. The Skydive Restaurant, which was a 180 seat cafeteria on the 44th floor of 1 WTC conceived for office workers, was also operated by Windows on the World.
In this video you will see archives of the restaurant's original website. These are some of the last ones available via Wayback Machine that can be accessed. They go from 2000 to a few days before the 11th of September, 2001.
The website shut down in 2002 after a year of providing updates for employees who were lost that day.

Everything is WAY to TINE TO SEE IT. I wish it had been enlarged. It would have been wonderful to really get a good look at it.

I'm happy that his chief is still alive, he was in the lobby of the building because he was late and couldn't come, but the students and waiters who were there lost their lives.

Exploring this old website is so eerie and chilling. Flipping through the dates to see the website disappear not long after the attacks is just.... jesus.

I don't know why, but that part where they had a schedule for the wine club in dates past the date of 9/11 feel so eerie and sad to me. These people had plans to just have fun in their clubs and such, unexpecting of what will happen. They all had so many high hopes for the future, just to have it snatched away from them.

I never took the time to realize that the World Trade Center may have had its own website!

Disappointing. Why? I'm legally blind. All I can see is tinsy writing with less than half of the screen and thumnail images that do NOT do the content we're looking any favors. This should have been enlarged for easy viewing for all of us regardless of sight limitations.

Ik this is old but you can zoom in on both mobile and pc if you need to, and u can change your settings. I have a friend that has a similar issue; I understand the frustration but it’s not the channel’s fault, it’s the responsibility for websites and devices to make themselves more accessible; especially since if this was zoomed in, it might be uncomfortable for others or might even be worse/unhelpful for people with other disabilities so it’s best to have personal settings if possible, I do agree more places need to be more accessible but I think here ur good ❤
