Best to load these and do a TOP burn. And way more wood than you used, packed tight. (It doesn’t need or want all those air pockets.) Also, pellets give you much longer burn time (fill to right below the top holes), and you don’t have to keep feeding it wood. You’ll get an average burn time of an hour. I have the $40 WalMart Ozark Trail clone, and this thing has been a Godsend for me for low volume camp cooking: I use it with an inexpensive Lineslife (Amazon) stake-in-ground adjustable and swingaway cooking grate. These stoves burn HOT in the center, and if you can’t raise your pan/pot, your meal is literally toast. Also… The size of the Lineslife, although small, still gives you plenty of room to utilize the cooler portions of the grate and get your food away from the direct flames. I always carry a supply of small wood pieces, but I never use it. Pellets all the way.
No issues there yet. It burns pretty hot to get ash. Yes you have to scrape inside off bottom and will also have to bang or hit in side. Good as new. Def have to maintain after each use

So how long will that fire you built last?
Not long
Did you say "Mulberry"?
My concern is ash build up since the bottom doesnt come out. Especially plugging the side holes. Thoughts?
