  • Napoleon: Total War 1vs1: Santísima Trinidad vs Ironclad - BOARDING ACTION | Round 1
    Nation: Spain vs France
    AI Strength: normal
The Santissima Trinidad carries more guns and crew than any other ship in Napoleon: Total War, though it pays for this with the worst speed, maneuverability, accuracy, and reloading of any ship in the game. However, any target unlucky enough to face its cannons can expect to sustain tremendous damage. The Santissima Trinidad shines best when in the thick of battle, but is vulnerable to being strafed and being hit by indirect attacks from rocket ships and bomb ketches due to its enormous size and sluggish speed. The Santissima Trinidad appears in the Europe campaign, where it is part of the main Spanish fleet operating near the Iberian coast. It also makes an appearance in the historical Battle of Trafalgar, where it is controlled by the Spanish fleet. *Unlike other unique ships, the Santissima Trinidad cannot be rebuilt if destroyed or otherwise removed from the map. Nonetheless, game files indicate that, were she available for construction, it would take 10 turns and 3,250 gold to construct her.
Ironclads represent the most powerful ships in most rosters, boasting nearly unmatched hull strength, excellent speed, and devastating firepower. Their only weaknesses lie in their high cost and the lateness in which they may be acquired. Certain factions, such as France and Spain, have ships that have more firepower or more cannon; however, ironclads are unmatched in terms of hull strength except when compared to the Santissima Trinidad. They beat almost any ship in a head to head fight, and even fast ships may have difficulty evading them. Conversely, ironclads can easily outrun ships that bear more cannon, and even if they are trapped and outgunned, their hulls can take an apocalyptic beating before sinking. While ironclads are superior defensively, they are offensively nearly identical to 80-gun Steam Ships and 80-gun ships-of-the-line, which are cheaper to build and have fewer requirements. Some factions' ship statistics are different from others; differences are listed below (traits that to not differ are not listed). Ironclads are unique in that they are the only ship type where Great Britain is inferior in an aspect: British ironclads have poorer accuracy than those of other factions. However, they are still arguably superior overall due to their better reloading, hull strength, and morale as well as their lower expense to train and maintain. Spanish Ironclads are also unique; while most Spanish ships are identical to their generic counterparts, Spanish Ironclads are cheaper, but suffer from poorer accuracy.

The santisima trinidad. With a fully veteran crew that ship was the death star of the seas on that time. A shame it was sunk because not having on that moment a good crew to make a better fight...

Well santisima wasn't the death star of the seas, it was very much overrated. Even with a good crew she wouldn't be able to do good as she was extremely unstable on water. Just check the battles she took part in and you will see, she was mostly standing idle during the engagements. Also the Spanish didn't actually had a bad crew as many historians regard Napoleonic Spain as the second strongest naval power in the world that time

Tha advantage of a IronClad is that is not fully dependent on the Wind, there for you can manuver more eficently against the wind.

    4:40 "À l'attaque les gars. À l'attaque. Pas de quartiers" : "Attack guy's, attack, no mercy.
6:50 "son prisonneros" (in spanish that time) : "They're prisonners"

      Here a native spanish speaker.
Actually the sailor said "Sin prisioneros"/Without prisoners".
So, i think the frogs had a really bad time in the Santísima... worst than we can think of.

@@RickSnake ah, thanks for the correction.
But I think that given the final result, they both had a bad time.

the idea of the ironclad is to take advantage of its speed, endurance and firepower, without some stupid maneuver to board the Santisima Trinidad with that ship, maneuvering upwind you could have taken it in a bad position and gunned it to sinking.
