    I always give the neck one week to settle in with the new adjustment before I start adjusting again. 1/8 of a turn is plenty when the neck needs just a little adjustment.

      Lmao a WEEK?! How long does it take to tune your guitar? Have you managed to take the shop strings off of it yet or do you remove one per month?

      @@Massobliteration idk where all the fear mongering came from but people are terrified of the truss rodd. Adjustments should be apparent immediately and fully take effect within hours or less, not days like OP seems to think.

      @Massobliteration 6 дней назад

      @@onlyusernameleft2 Exactly, also i dont know why they fear they may break the truss rod, i mean that would be possible but with small adjustments is highly unlikely it will happen.
      And like you said, the adjustment takes effect inmediately, i always notice it instantly and stays that way for a long time if not forever.

    Maybe not your thing, or relevant, but sometimes truss rods are installed backwards, (how?)
    before I adjusted my Epiphone Firebird truss rod, I verified how they work, I knew I needed more bow, it was backbowed ….but the direction 3 different web sites said I should turn it, increased the backbow, I thought I broke it, 😬 but immediately turned it slightly past where I’d started, in the “wrong” direction …..perfect!
    I had a luthier install jumbo frets & a Bone Nut, but he was downtown where it’s humid and I live where it’s dry, so no big deal but scary…..after all I did with that axe $800 plus $1100 in parts. Every original piece of metal was replaced! Wrap tail bridge. But a
    Firebird like no other, 2 Seymour Duncan’s, 1 TV Jones filtertron, 3 stacked volume/tone, 4 selectable coils per PU, each has off/on
    And yes….it WILL doom,
    17 gauss bridge, 13 gauss, middle, 8gauss neck, but it does sooo many other sounds too, hard to mess up a neck through was my theory…..sustain for days!🙂

    Does the guitar need to be loosened or tightened when using heavier strings?

    • @DoesItDoom
      @DoesItDoom  18 часов назад +1

      Adding heavier strings will add more concave bow to the neck, so you’ll need to tighten the truss rod to straighten it out.

    Unless it’s a dual action truss rod and then it may feel like it’s loosening a bit before tightening again.

    • @ozoneswiftak
      @ozoneswiftak 8 месяцев назад

      you mean only a dual action allows you to get back relief going counter clock wise. otherwise going counter clockwise on say a cheap squire gives you more bow.
