I learnt a lesson and now I just have a DIY 200lt with a very large open area that I can put just about any piece of equipment in and have plenty of access to get to all the equipment too, simple works, well for me
That's me! But my sump is basically just to hide equipment and add water volume. I don't run or need a refugium or skimmer... as I'm fighting to keep NO3 & PO4 up. If I ever need a skimmer, I'll just plop it down in the sump and call it a day. Easy peasy.
Iam purchased eheim jager heater. My tank temp is 28.5degree celsius but cant move red dail to 28.5 it ended in 28 cant turn to 28.5 now dont know how to calibrate? And how to reset eheim jager heater to factory reset ?
You just put it into the tank, wait a day or two, measure the temp of the tank with a different thermometer and then adjust the temp calibrator to that temp
Honestly yes, many of them are far to complex with too many baffles and chambers. However, some compartmentalization makes sense like an isolated flow are for sock's or roller mats, or a dedicated refugium area with opaque sides and a means to keep algae's from floating away. After that, nearly every other compartment is better served by simply being one open chamber.
The complexity is determined by what you need in the sump... My sump has two filter socks, two heaters, one return pump, and four auto dosing nozzles... that's it. Zero baffles! Just everything in one compartment. There is room for a skimmer or whatever else I may need in the future, but I don't need them now. I'm adding NO3 & PO4, so skimming out the poop would be counterproductive. The only baffle I have considered adding is a baffle to segregate the return pump from the rest. That way in the event that the return pump runs the sump dry, my heaters don't overheat and die... but that's unlikely to happen. If I needed to create a type of in/out flow to sections, then I would add baffles... but I have zero need for that.
Roller mat, roller mat, roller mat, all of the sumps should have the option to remove the filter socks, please guys update your sumps (across the market)
I never went with an under-gravel filter back in the day... I wanted that reduced oxygen area deep in the sand to get rid of Nitrates. (Yeah, we did things wrong back then). I did LOVE my Fluval canister filter though!!! Like a mini-sump that you could just carry to the sink for cleaning.
My sump is a a 20-30 year old wet dry with aqua mesh baffles, but it works

It’s what pulls on your heart strings 😊
Thomas always gets a 👍
A water box is a box. Acrylic easy to
Drill/glue additional accessories. I like to show off my sump as much as my larger box of water, the aquarium

My personal opinion is that less is more. Determine what that aquarium needs and provide it in the simplest way possible.
Most important is the access when cleaning without removing. Less is more, at least to me.
Fancy seeing you here. Hope to see you update soon
Whatever happened to undergravel filters and canister filters.

Do you need a sump at all?
No, but in many cases they’re very nice to have.
Matt B nailed it.
BRS is getting more Like BS
Shameless plug for unnecessary nonsense
