    This will make writing my bachelor thesis so much easier.
    I have two suggestions:
    1) It's a good practice to include all links you use in the video in description or pinned comment
    2) Can you render your videos in higher resolution? I have a 1080p monitor and I can barely see small letters due to youtube's video compression.

    It's very interesting. Aside rendering the videos in 1080p, if it's possible, I'd like to suggest to increase the font size of the ide and text so that watching from a distant second screen or when someone splits the screen in two, it's not going to be shrinked too much.

    • @FedericoTartarini

      The IDE should not affect the compiling speed since ultimately they only show you the source documents, while the documents are created using LaTeX. It is better to use latexmk and no need to create a separate configuration to the BibTex. It will automatically be done by latexmk. latexmk can automatically analyze how many times it needs to run latex to have correct citations.

    @Federico Tartarini: I just downloaded the latest version of PyCharm; when I try to configure manually the compiler (like you suggest at 18:44) I don't get the "Directory for auxiliary files" and "Directory for output files".
    I just get two "Options":
    - Separate auxiliary files from output
    - Separate output files from source (disable this when using BiBTeX without MiKTeX)
    Is it something you get in the premium configuration of PyCharm?

      So yeah, I get in the same mask you get when I press the "+" button (Add new configuration) and select "LaTeX". I do get the options to mark or unmark, but I don't get the field to redirect the auxiliary files.

    • @FedericoTartarini
      @FedericoTartarini  3 года назад

      Okay, unfortunately I do not know how to help you with this error. Sorry for that. You should, however, be able to compile the document anyway even if you do not specify the path for the auxiliary files. Does it work?

    • @FedericoTartarini
      @FedericoTartarini  3 года назад +1

      Hi Enrico, I have updated to the new version of TeXiFy and now the field to add a "Directory for auxiliary files" is gone. I found a workaround. Just specify the "Directory for output files" and then in the BibTeX configuration set the "Working directory for bibtex" as the same directory you specified in the "Directory for output files". Th only issue with this is that you need to copy the "main.bib" file inside this folder too to make sure the code compiles correctly. This new change is very annoying.

    Appreciate your efforts on this but I had serious problems with Miktex. (a) When getting updates, a conflict can arise between an individual and administrator. They get out of sync, causing a problem. (b) My PC security complained it had no digital signature. (c) When I tried to remove the app in Windows Control Panel it reminded me "You have not installed updates." I don't care about updates; I just want to remove it! Conclusion: Miktex does not behave properly as a Windows application. I have not seen those kind of problems with other apps.

    • @FedericoTartarini

      In my computer it is still working. Two workaround are: 1 - You can use the pdf viewer which is embedded in pycharm. The only issue with that is that when you click on the pdf you do not get redirected to the source code. 2 - compile the document in pycharm and then manually open the pdf with Sumatra. Then it should work as before. Please let me know if this works.

    Appreciate your efforts on this but I'm disappointed that Latex has to be in a separate project. I was hoping that from my own Python project, I could generate Latex commands and send them to a display widget in the same way I send html strings to a PYQT5 browser widget. With all the emphasis on STEM, I don't see why software is not able to render math correctly. Kids still learn long division but we have no way to show this in software. Why doesn't Microsoft have a math font? Do Apple products have the same problem? In web sites like Geogebra and math forums, we can enter a math equation and it's translated correctly. Why is it so difficult for program languages? Is there a problem with patents?
