In scene 2, Thanh's real mother sometime appears with many gift to replace uncle Thanh. Most of the characters in this drama are Thanh's family or relatives. Linh Dan is not an orphan, at all. She has a family, parents and cute sister, mini-Lin. She goes to school, she lives in big home. I think the kind grandfather is also a very close family/relative of Thanh. The reason Linh Dan doesn't ride a bicycle is because Thanh bought it out of necessity to avoid government intervention after scamming a former major league baseball player's giveback. This is to prove that Thanh used the donations to buy the bike. I think he banned her from riding such a bicycle. Unfortunately, I'm watching everything as a drama.
