      There were several problems:
      They made cheap, crappy products and services
      Their original founders died/got taken over by crappy leadership
      They over-leveraged themselves with big loans, expanded too quickly and took on huge debts

      @Jay Talents I call lazy to the people who spend time driving, getting into the store, searching w/o luck, analyzing a product package which won't tell you anything bad about the product, waiting in line to pay and driving back home. I call that a waste of time and time is money.

      Jay Talents the time you spend searching in the physical store (half of the time it’s sold out) and driving there, you can buy it online in a couple minutes for cheaper. Also I love to keep the shipping boxes and use them to send donated items to my homeland in Nigeria

    I miss Payless so much. I have such a large shoe size (Womens 13-14) and Payless made it easy for me to just go to the section with my size and see what they had vs. looking around, finding something I love only to find out they don't make my size. I know shopping online is a thing, but I just can't do online shoe shopping. I need to see how it fits and feels and shopping online just isn't reliable.

    Part of the problem, especially with these clothing companies are that they charge ridiculous amounts of money for their products. If a shirt costs $80, it’s probably too expensive for the general public. That’s why places like Target have become so popular

    • @eddapultstab2078
      @eddapultstab2078 2 года назад

      One of the reasons of that trend is mainly because people's disposable income was not only not growing but also getting eaten away by rising gas prices and the costs of living increases. All these businesses have one thing in common, there all luxuries, and when the people can't afford them they can't buy. Some of them may have poor leadership and customer service issues but if the pool of consumers that can pay shrinks that too is a pretty big nail in the coffin.

      Think if the company has 5 billion in loans and it costs 6 billion to keep the stores up. They have to pay all money they make on debts. Its a waste to have the company running in that case. Its not worth it. Thats why companies close down.

      They are bought by raiders and hedge funds because they have under-valued stock, raiders buy them, finance that under capitalization put the money in their pockets leaving the Company to declare bankruptcy because they didn't buy it to operate it, but just to suck it dry and run. The Gov/. needs to step in and stop raiders and crooked hedge fund mgr.
