...purchased SX2's last week ..matched them up with Arcam Solo Neo after reviewing many options... I was impressed with KEF LS50's -however most of my listening is at lower volumes & the 50's fell away a touch -down there. End result of chosen pairing is spot on to my ears.... these Missions work beautifully with this trusty Arcam product. If you're looking at a stereo only set up ( at a fair price ) ....& you're able to review these guys together... do it !!! ....ultimately it always comes down to what your ears really enjoy listening to and with that in mind the higher the quality of musical production -the greater the listening reward through this pairing -simple :)
Oh My Dayz When you find out the likes of Wilson Audio, PMC, ATC and other brands that use the lowest end Tymphany/Scanspeak drivers, then you'll realise how little you're getting for your money.
Having had some amazing speakers in my time, i find it hard to listen to low end gear. What i was paying thousands for 20 years ago can now be picked up for a few hundred quid second hand.
Oh My Dayz There is that, but a poor speaker is always going to be a poor speaker, regardless of the second-hand price, or how much marketing you throw at it, or what commercial outlet (What Hi-Fi Stereophile mag) you have backing it. My point is; how high-end can a $1,000 - $10,000's speaker be, when it has $15 tweeters and $35 woofers and near useless crossover? Further more, there is no one speaker that fits all! I wish room acoustics were that simple.
