You've got 2 top contenders for great hifi on a budget. I own the Mission 707 speakers. Amazing!! Either one of these shown are a great choice!!

Good to know these differences in sonic signatures between the brands. For me, I'll choose Wharfedale (maybe the Linton's one day, I've got the Diamond 12.2), but I know many love that forward, more shimmering top end sound of Mission, so to each their own.

I've just gone through that process myself. I've had Wharfedale 9.6 for a couple of years but were thinking they were a bit too woolly. I bought a pair of Mission M34i and also M64i's. They were jaw droppingly revealing, shimmering tops and highs, and a soft subtle bass. I listened to both all afternoon, but at the end of the session had a headache and my ears hurt ! I never had this with the Wharfedales so I plugged them back in. They are so much smoother and "rounded off" than the Missions, I could listen to the Wharfedales all day but can only stand the Missions in small doses.

@@nztv8589 now I have the "problem" of wondering should I buy JBL L100 Classic or the new Wharfedale Dovedale speakers as my "end game" set? Roughly same price at this point. (Or go for the less pricey Lintons and hope they'll fill my 13' x 25' living room. But to be fair, all of these will need a subwoofer to get that last bottom octave).

Well that was pretty good timing. I have a pair of LX2s. But just wondered what the difference was between the two house sounds. Almost went for Wharfs initially during covid. But wanted a bit more bass for my buck and got the LX2s elsewhere. Having owned a very warm pair or Kef's for many years prior. I was happy to have a slightly more cleaner open sound that gives lovely minds and good bass.

In your opinion, are they worth 280 euros? I don't have an option to hear them, but many ppl said they sound better than Wharfedale Diamond 12 series.

I have the LCR Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 bookshelf speakers and also a couple of the smaller bookshelf speaker models from Mission and I very much like the sound of both brands. So much so that I am looking at buying some older Mission 737 Renaissance speakers and then down the road a bit I'm thinking I might want to also get the Wharfedale Evo 4.2's or if I happen to win the lottery a pair of floor standing Wharfedale Elysian's. Wharfedale makes what I see as some of the best speakers for build quality and aesthetics at price that isn't as exorbitant as some other brands that don't sound any better. Mission does the same thing and they may even do it at a lower price point for some of the models I'm interested in. There'e something about that British sound signature that works for me.

I have the Wharfedale Diamond shelf speakers but they are a bit too "brilliant and metallic" for want of better words. Got the mission qx5 mk2 also and they are "rich, big and comfy". That seems diametrically opposite of what is apparently to be expected. I'll have my hearing checked...
