It had a spacer included though, but It attached from the back and added around a mm of extra thickness. And so, when I put the bezel on, I managed to crack the corner of the display...
I intended upgrading the screen on my X260. After studying lots of different panels, I sent for one which stated the panel was 290mm x 170mm. However, I too ended up with a panel 8mm shorter on the width. I was going to return it but your very helpful video has given me cause to have a rethink and follow your lead. Well done brotha.. liked.. My 768p HP laptop TN panel just got broken.. seems like it's a great time to replace it with a better 1080p IPS panel.. BUT I'm totally clueless whether it will be compatible if I order it online.. Seems you have experience in this.. do you have some tips that will increase my likelihood of ordering the right panel online ?? Like comparing the make & model nos. understanding the digits in the model no. etc.
You'd have to look at the current panel in your laptop, find the model number, and Google it to find the datasheet. That should give you all the specifications you need to find a compatible screen. If you can't find the datasheet you'll have to measure it yourself, and check what sort of connector it uses, whether it's 30 pin eDP, or the older LVDS. If it's a standard eDP connector then another eDP panel of the same size should work. If it uses LVDS then it's more complicated as the pinout and connector can vary even on laptops from the same manufacturer so you'll have to find the specific panel for your laptop. You'll probably get the most useful information from Googling your laptop model to find other people who have the same laptop and already replaced their screen. There's bound to be other people with the same laptop who also broke their screen and already replaced it.
Great video ! Very well explained, you make it look super easy! I happen to own a Lenovo T460 Laptop ( which looks exactly the same as your X260 ) and it also has a low resolution TN panel that I would love to replace like you did here. Do you think it is also possible to do it on my laptop? I heard that replacing a panel with a higher resolution one could be an issue and would eventually cause glitches on the screen and whatnot. I'd love to have your opinion on that. Thanks again for the video!
Hi, you can switch the panel in your T460 for a higher resolution IPS panel. The Innolux N140HCE-EN1 Rev.C2 should work in your laptop and is a drop in replacement if you can find one. Make sure to get the C2 revision, not the C1 or B3. I'm not aware of any problems with glitches after replacing the panel.
Hi there, I'm wondering how the speaker sound is, I have a Lenovo thinkpad w530 that I just love except for the speakers being low sounding even on high. Any reply would be great, good video, thanks.
I haven't looked inside every Lenovo laptop, but their Legion laptops do. As for the rest, I would expect so. eDP is a standard. Pretty much all laptops produced since around 2014 use eDP.

Hi. I'd like to ask, can we remove the anti-glare on lenovo x260 lcd screen? I had a huge problem about keyboard marks showing on my lcd screen. How to remove it?
I wonder why its difficult to get the 290mm version on the market, rather than the 282mm but yet, there're equally lots of Thinkpad X260/270s 290mm versions on the market.
Can you show how and where you applied the adhesive strips to the top and bottom? According to your old and new (innolux) panels, there is a vertical difference of 12mm, significantly more than the horizontal differences. Also, in the video you are using eBay to purchase panels in EUR but your links in the description are for Amazon US based in USD, yet you are based in the UK.
The vertical difference is less than 2mm - 170mm high for the old screen vs 168.81mm for the new screen. Just a tiny 1mm sliver of rubber was sufficient. You can see the little strip of grey rubber I added at 5:22, immediately above the hinge.
The technician told me that the 60hz will not work with my laptop. Though a 60hz model already is in the market with the same configuration of my laptop. The technician is saying, "the screen model has to be the same."
I bought an old x260 in good condition, but it is an optional version without camera. So can I add a camera module to it? Or do I need something else (like extra cable, ...)?
FRU 01AW448 is the camera cable, and the camera itself is 00HN350. You'd also need a new bezel with the lens hole - 01AW433. If you just google those part reference codes you should find what you need.
