Co, I really appreciate you posting this game. I like xiangqi better than western chess or weiqi/go/baduk, but it is hard to find anyone to play with. Love to see more posts!
I just started playing different games at brainking, I played xiangqi, but honestly I hated it, but came here to see how good players play it, since I also sucked at it.
@@Rene.A.D Oh where to start :D pawns differ before and after the river, the gun(the taking over piece) is obscure to me, especially with the starting position allowing you to take horse on move 1, the bishop with it's 7 possible positions is bad, the king and guards being in a cage is so restrictive. Only the knight and the rook are ok, but having so much restricted takes away any sence of freedom. When I played the game I wasn't sure if the game is going equal or I was losing tremendously, but I quit since it was a torture.
@@cotuongthangnguyen i think you mean black chariot but yes I see it now, black will block check but once red chariot takes black knight, it will be check from cannon which will result in black chariot being stuck to block check or taken by red chariot. Thanks
my understanding is if black didn't make that move, next red 车 8 - 3, black is then forced to move 象 5 + 3 anyways, only then red 车 would be in a better position and has more choices.
Yo I was also thinking about this move, but then, you see, if knight checks, black can just move his general to the second rank. Then, red's in trouble. Red can't take black's chariot because it's defended with an elephant, and if he trades with black he's gonna be down by one horse and be in a major disadvantage. Therefore he has to retrieve the chariot and defend the horse at the same time. But then black could move his general back to safety and even threatens to take red's cannon in the next move. Even if red saves his cannon, he's still down by one horse. Therefore, red has to move his chariot and threatens not only to take the cannon, but also a mate in the next move.
why the fuck didnt black chariot take the red horse at 5:56? if he had taken it first, then red chariot wouldnt have dared taken black horse. and even if he did, it would be 1 black horse for a red chariot and red horse. black'w offensive units also outnumber red.
That's because red is preparing to discovery-check with his chariot & cannon. If black had taken the horse, he'd lose both pieces from the discovery. Which is the same reason why black moves the horse down to guard the bottom rank. If red attempts the same discovered check, black blocks with his own chariot and gets it shot down by the enemy cannon, but his horse kills red's chariot at the same time.
@@cotuongthangnguyen i'm confused why not just move the horse down2 right1 to protect the cannon. reds been on the offensive all game but only has 2 pieces that can cross the river. shouldn't black have advantage? i'm a noob, just curious why he resigned from a double-pin that could be defended
You do notice that AI is better than human in Chess right... like literally someone in western chess was caught recently for cheating by using AI to mirror his match so his opponent are fighting AI instead.

Does Chinese chess have relative value like chess does? It seems to be a lot different because of the pieces that cannot attack.
If it is possible, it’ll be good to have a commentary or analysis type video, since there aren’t any on RUclips currently for Chinese Chess.

Can eat the knight meanwhile protect its own knight

got my answer, horses have to travel 2 spaces unimpeded, so down2 right1 is illegal
