I like how just before this scene, when Shifu sends the order to doulbe the guards Master Oogway remarks "one often finds his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it." And hot damn does this scene embody that. First off, when the messenger come to the prison he is given a tour because the guards insulted by Shifus lack of confidence in the order. In that tour the messenger is slapped on the back where he is slapped on the back and drops a feather that falls in front of Tai Lung which he uses to escape his shell restraint. But even just in the actions used by the guards to neutralize Tai Lung, the actions that were or would have been successful were stopped by another action getting in the way. Then the crossbows that are used to try to kill him instead destoyed his right shackle. With his free and he removes his left shackle and uses the same crossbows as spring boards to climb up. The arrow storm (assuming generously they would have actually done something) were blocked by the wooden lift being raised that Tai Lung used to hude under. Had they not raised theblift he couldnt have hid under it. Heck if they didnt even lower it in the first place he couldnt have ysed the lifts chain to climb up to that level. And Tai lung used the lift chain after that to get up to the ground level bridge. If it didnt exist at all, he couldnt have done that. And finally when the bridge got destroyed by the stalactites, if only evough dropped to destroy the bridge, he couldnt have used them to climb and jump back up. The guards fell victim to their own excess.
You know this is a legendary introduction to a villian because of how many insane shit there is. Cool shots, badass action, realistic animal sounds, a banger score, funny, and a fucking FEATHER
Does anybody know why they split up the Shogun Prison and Tai Lung Escape scenes in the final cut of the movie? The score implies that at some point, the scene never cut away from the prison until after Tai Lung’s escape.
