I was at Loch Lomond in 2018 and was flying a Spark up a stream that fed into the Loch. The battery went low and before I could cancel it, it tried to go home. It got stuck in a tree that was hanging out over the water. I left for America the next morning, but my friend in Scotland went back and climbed the tree and got it for me! And it still works after being rained on all night!
Here is a tip for your drone settings. The home point for when it loses signal can be set to a higher elevation before heading to home point. Glad you got yours back.
Thank God for George!!🙌🏼🙌🏼 I love how long it stays light enough to see in July in Scotland. Our first trip there, we loved how long the days were. We felt very productive and got to see so much!
Loved this Vlog Shaun! I know there was a bit of drama, but we were all itching to see what happened and were super glad that you are okay and the Drone is good and that is all that matters ;) George is a wonderful friend we can see and we are all thankful for him saving that Drone 😁 I absolutely love the Highlands as I have been there myself it is one of my top fave holiday spots in the world. There is no place like it. 💙❤💙❤
Beautiful drone footage of the castle! Glad you found the drone. When you said “bloody hell” I laughed out loud - it reminded me so much of my late Dad, that was one of his favorite expressions!!
Nice vlog Shaun! I've been waiting for this one! Glad you're back at it. Nice drone footage! That's a beautiful castle. Stay safe. Love to Teka 💕🏴
I just found your channel about a week ago. I love the beautiful glimpses of the countryside! This is what I really enjoy seeing. I also like to see your local eateries and glimpses of every day life in Scotland. Beautiful country!! I never knew that Scotland has such a cool climate. I live in sultry, humid coastal North Carolina. So glad you were able to retrieve your drone. Those midges must be wicked! Loving your videos!
@@johnnabuzby6103 my niece and her husband were in NB for about 10 yrs, with 2 yrs out in CA. She got mad at me last time I went when I found out how many bears there were, and that I wanted a pic with each one! 😆😆
@@LindaC616 😅 We do have quite a few bears around the city and they're pretty interestingly decorated. How many did you manage to take pictures of? Some of them "wandered" around downtown during the flooding from Hurricane Florence back in 2018. That was the worst hurricane and flooding this area has seen in a many a day.
@@johnnabuzby6103 I think my niece may have sent me photos; they'd just moved away the year before. Also video of the line around the block when BoJangles got their power back... Not all of the bears! She threatened them with defacing before I left! 😆 I got one with the copper penny bear, my great niece and I took one with the bear outside Radio Shack, and a few others. But we couldn't make it the objective of the day
@@LindaC616 There are quite a few of them, I believe around fifty or thereabouts, so I'm not surprised you didn't get pictures of them all. If you're ever in the area again, there are a bunch of the bears in historic downtown; that's where you'll find the majority of them.
Great Video! and awesome of George Being a hero!! Scotland is Beautiful and as i always say thank you Shaun for sharing a piece of Scotland with not only myself but everyone.
Stunningly Beautiful would be an understatement. I'm glad the day ended well for everyone and the drone, especially George. And I believe you do look younger with the trimmed beard. Thanks for making these and sharing your homeland. I look forward to the next one.
Watching this while tired. The footage over the castle was so relaxing I thought I might fall asleep. Very glad that George was able to help you retrieve your drone.
Thank you for your videos, I have enjoy each one of them. 😊 I'm just a rare poster, but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you sharing your life & Scotland through video.
WOW, such beautiful land. I feel such peace watching your videos. The castle was just stunning, sorry you had such trouble with your drone. Thank you for sharing this, its some place I have always wanted to visit but don't think I will ever get the chance. But through your videos we can, again THANK YOU!!!!
Oh i do hope that you so get to visit Scotland. I pray that you can get @ least one chance to get there. If you can do anything to get there, then please do all you can & try to make it happen. Best Wishes to you. x
Shaun, where exactly is the castle. When I was in Scotland, about 5 years ago, I think I was in the area but not sure. I went to the Isle of Mull and also Lock Lomond. My family was from the area. I am hoping to get back to Scotland again for a longer Holiday. But since I will have to fly from the U.S. it will be awhile. Especially since my arms aren't as strong as they were, and I tire easily 😁
I found this channel while learning about Gaelic, I stayed for the Highlands. Especially the drone footage is breathtaking! I so long to visit the Highlands again, it's been 8 years now, since I toured it with my mom (bless her soul). Fond memories.
Good vlog Shaun. Sorry about the Drone, hope it's OK. See ya on the next one. Oh, and we have Midges here in North Carolina and they eat you for supper.
I'd love to go back in time to the hay day of the castle and see it on a snowy winters morning. Thankfully George was able to retrieve your drone so we could see the lovely footage. Was that the gloaming at the end of day? Thanks for sharing your beautiful country with us.
Kudos to George! Happy for you that your drone was recovered in good shape. As an American, I find videos of Scotland MUCH MORE INTERESTING AND ENJOYABLE than videos done in the U.S.A. I can see this country for myself.
Shaun, all you had to do was mention the word midge's, and I started to itch! Glad you are back up in the Highlands, as it won't be long before I fall back into another, "Outlander" book. Take care until next time.
Oh for sure @8:54 what a memory for us too. Only our drone went swimming 🏊♀️ with the Sharks off the coast at Dunnet Head Lighthouse. No retrieving that beauty. Beautiful trip!!! Lovely video vacation you gave me!! 🥰 so funny you look at your self like the shave was no benefit….early on in the vid I was thinking you looked so well and happy. That’s the important part. Everyone is a day older every day! You’ve got nothing to fret about. Great work. 🎉
You must reaaally love that drone, climbing up that cliff with the way you hate heights! But Scotland is so frickin' lovely and Dry (tioram) Castle such a treat, it was good you had George there to carry the day so we could enjoy the footage. Gorgeous. 😊👍🏻
Thank you Shaun for the beautiful footage of the Scottish highlands, thanks to George for retrieving the drone, a most prized possession. Have a safe day..coming to you from Phoenix AZ USA🌞
My trip to Scotland was cancelled this morning. That's 4 times in 18 months. Things looked good a couple months ago, so the travel agent booked the trip for September. That was rebooked 2 weeks later. Now, it's next September. Also, I had a heat stroke a few years back. I have permanent effects from it. I literally have to stay inside if the temperature is over 65°F. I hope you don't have the nausea, convulsions, fainting and fatigue that affects me. I like you without the beard. Not a facial hair person.
I've been binge listening to the YT audiobooks of M C Beaton, about a small town Scottish cop solving murders while painting a beautiful picture of the Highlands. Thank you for matching my minds eye.
I wonder how old the castle is? We were in Scotland a couple years ago in the summer, and couldn’t believe how late we had sunlight! Can’t wait to go back.
Thats what I need, a castle on an island in the middle of no where. Those bug bites remind me of the fly bites we used to get as kids. Tiny little black flies that could get in through the window screen. They were miserable. We used peppermint oil to sooth the itching and burning.
Beautiful footage!!! Thanks for sharing the beauty of the scenery and your adventures. Really enjoying your efforts. Thanks from Washington State. We have beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains here and ocean and deserts. Come see us sometime.

Good video. Really enjoyed watching your adventure. Hey, you got a haircut at some point. Looks good.

Watching your videos on my 4k big screen TV is brilliant!
Thanks for the beautiful clip, man, especially the magical colors in the countryside. I especially liked the early evening shots up the hillside. This is my kind of hiking in the gloaming. As for the midges, we have a spray (Ranger Ready Repellant). It's not sticky or clammy when it dries.
