Asgard is a sampler (Kontakt instrument), and a Viking vst created by Danheim.
It includes everything from the most powerful drums, which almost echoes into Asgard itself.
Bowed lyre drones, tagelharpa drones, dark textures, percussions, and every other instrument you can imagine from the Viking age.
Authentic excavated antique Viking objects were recorded and sampled for Asgard. This is the first time since C.850-1050 AD, that these amazing objects will be heard again, and now come to life through sound and music.

Every preset has been edited and set manually. Starting points were adjusted for the best result during the performance of the patches. Seamless loop points were set also manually. General fixes etc were done during the sample mapping process.

Breaking iron objects might have had specific supernatural significance to Vikings. The ritual is shown on the Lärbro stone in Gotland, Sweden.

hello some sounds miss and don't play is this normal ?
It's an OK VST, but Danheim could've been more consistent in terms of microphone use. You can clearly hear so much difference in the different instruments, some sounds so hilariously low quality while others sound crisp and clean.
Also, how has Mike not heard of round robins? It's an easily programmable function in Kontakt: It's a way to let sample developers play back a different sampled version of the same sound each time you hit the same key, so that just like most acoustic instruments each note sounds slightly different for more realism. Now you have all the different samples of the instrument mapped on different keys, so that makes it pretty unclear. That means if you want to have some realism in the samples, you gotta hit different keys every time becouse there are no round robins.
This is just feedback though, Asgard is itself a good concept but Mike really could've made it so much better and more clear.

Hey dude, I just bought and downloaded it for my mac but I don't know how to install it. I have the full version of kontakt. The email I got when I bought it said to just drag it into my vst folder, but I thought it needed to be run through kontakt? Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I want to try myself in creating music (you inspire), but I still don't have time. In this genre. There are some cool ideas. Vinnie, how about adding and diversifying samples with your own hands. To make, or record on a regular microphone (without a professional records-studio)? It will be very cool, I'm waiting!
You should totally start creating music, my first ever recordings were all on 4 track tape layer after layer using what I had around me, chopsticks on a brass vase for percussion, a microphone fixed to a bar stool tapping with my fingers for a bass drum a plastic carrier bag around the bar stool hitting with a chop stick for a snare drum, claps, hand rubs with guitars, bass and singing. That tape got me well known in Liverpool for thinking outside the box. Now I have all this equipment, this is what I dreamed of Ygadel.
I can't load the sampler up through Kontakt factory library like you did, at all. You just load the Nki file right? I cant find one in asgard_kontakt

I believe you can still get the old vst with some updates.
@@VinnieCamilleriMusic Oh, I have it and I know he did updates. Just wondering now whether he's just going to abandon the VST or add new samples etc to it. I know it might not be easy to add the better reverb or the overdrive but additional samples should be feasible and I'd use external reverb and overdrive anyway. I keep seeing good sample libraries that need full version Kontakt but that's expensive!
@@secretarchivesofthevatican Yeh, it is expensive, I waited till there was an offer on at half price. You will probably be better off asking Mike via his website email. I will continue to use the old one as there are many sounds on there that are not on this one as of yet. I love the mouth harp and that on the older version vst and thats the one I use. Now I will be able to bring both in my daw.

@@Bullski123 I think you do need the full one bro, I would download the free one and check to see if it works. If not wait till Native Instruments does their half price sale, thats what I did.
