If you need to release some steam get some soft tennis equipment and have a hit. You cannot hit a soft tennis ball without smiling. From the awesome sound it makes to the ball turning into a disc when hit with heavy topspin there’s nothing but glee to be experienced when hitting a soft tennis ball. Every tennis player should experience soft tennis at least once in their lives.
5:08 Why was the net player so slow to shift to the other side while his partner chased down the lob? He left the entire right half of the court open for the opponent to target. Granted, I'm a tennis player, but shouldn't the same principles apply?
Except the left side wouldn't be open, since the guy who chased down the lob would then be there. Strategically speaking, when the net player gets lobbed, it is the responsibility of the baseline player to chase down the lob. When they do, the net player should shift to the other side to close up any holes on their side. Otherwise, the opponent could just target the open court that they've left open. DISCLAIMER: I've never played soft tennis, but I used to play competitive doubles in tennis. This is what we were taught, and it's what you see on the pro tour. Most coaches condition the players to verbally shout "switch" when this situation happens, to make the strategy habitual.
Not moving is the best way when the net player gets lobbed with left side. Please refer below.(Japanese only, but you can see some figure.) softtennis-blog.com/forward-position-2020#i-8
@@DeeeFoo If the baseline player hit the ball down the line, the net player have to stay there in this sport,so he didn’t move to right not knowing to which side the baseline player was going to hit the ball. sorry to respond to two years ago comments with my poor english.

He can't just leave the left side open, what do you think he should have done?

Can you please explain in more detail? Like I said, I play tennis, so I assumed the same strategy would apply.
