Nothing new can replace a large displacement diesel engine at this point in time. A farm tractor has to be able to run all day and into the night when needed. Can't wait on time to recharge batteries or find hydrogen that can be difficult to use

    • @phalanx3803

and with current battery's to have a pack with the same run time a diesel the pack alone weighs just as much as the base tractor just imagine having something like a NH T8040 at 10-12 tonnes then adding another 10 tonnes on top of that it now weighs almost as much as a 9R and those run on thick tires or tracks and have a lot more power a something like a 9R would go from 25 to 45 tonnes. as for all day and all night if you have a massive storm to beat it can be all day all night and all the next day and night even stopping 5-10 mins for fuel and seed can make the difference on weather you get it all complete or are left with a patch un-sown. still the problem of how do we get the power? all my farm has is standard house hold power thats only 28-48 kW that would take days to charge even 200A 240v L-N 3phase puts out 144kW it would still take hours and 3Phase cost an arm and a leg to get.

The battery electric drive train combined with a smallish diesel range extender might actually be a perfect drive train for a self propelled sprayer ( Proposed EV Tractor already leans that way in looks). Currently most of the big red and green self propelled sprayers required crazy horsepower engines due to the inefficient hydrostatic drivetrains that they use to power this type of equipment. Sure it gives you that fancy tank steering but it doesn't protect the sensitive electronics from damage or allow for geared reduction for a huge horsepower boost. Who owns the battery.
Who pays for the disposal and how much is it.
What is the cost to recharge the battery and for how long.
How many cycles can the battery charge to 100% capacity.

Does it have a battery or is it Hydrogen/ electric? 55 hp on each wheel is only 220 hp which for pulling some implements wouldn't be enough grunt. I think electric with a battery won't work long term-it needs to be Hydrogen electric with a fuel cell. Needs to have standard Euro hitching system at the front & standard hitching system at the rear along with hydraulics. You need to be able to eyeball your hitch at the back when lining up the hitch for the pin to go through-which is why most tractors have an ok window at the back so you can see when you're in position. If you're going to pull a bailer-mulcher or moreni cultivator you're going to need a bit more traction on those wheels and more HP.

  • @porek965

This tractor is a interesting concept, but it is not really good for example plowing. Plowing requires a lot of power and consume diesel or electricity in high amounts and need wide tires and also need weight. And the charging is really bad for farming because it takes pretty long to charge. The tractor concept is great, but it would work for small spraying, rolling and fertilizing with a small scale fertilizer spreader. The tractor will be good when it is a hybrid. This tractor will probably won't sell very well.
