It also have the arctic ports of Murmansk and Archangel, the Caspian, and flotillas for the big rivers, and for almost two centuries its leaders have wanted a warm-water port like Karachi, Basra, Hormuz, or Band-ar-Abas. During WWII, its naval/marine infantry fought on many fronts, including in Stalingrad, because the main fleet was tied up in the Baltic. I don’t know where the Black Sea fleet was based after the fall of Sevastopol: maybe in Batumi?
no they had to evacuate to Leningrad where they were they played a vital role in keeping the port open for the Allied convoys. and they got bombed non stop for 2 years.

Sevastopol, I presume, is still Sevastopol today. It's one of the main Soviet naval bases that was then handed over to Ukraine in 1991.
