Attempted BIOS recovery and BIOS recovery failure (HP 15-f033wm Notebook PC)

- I tried to upgrade my BIOS on my HP 15-f033wm Notebook PC computer and guess what happened? It’s not letting me boot up my computer to Windows at all! Even though Windows is perfectly fine, the BIOS is definitely NOT fine.
I tried recovering the BIOS from the conflicting F.42 upgrade and downgraded my BIOS to F.41 but yet, it’s been stuck on this black screen with no activity from the hard drive and the hard drive is perfectly fine but for the BIOS? It's not fine.
This is why I've been off of RUclips since yesterday night. I've been trying to recover my HP 15-f033wm Notebook PC's BIOS after, for some reason, does want to boot after updating the BIOS, but it does turn on with no beep error codes (except for one beep due to my BIOS password being set) and I've spent like three full days trying to recover the BIOS via the hard drive and got nothing even though the BIOS has been recovered successfully with no issues whatsoever.
I tried booting off of my USB flash drive but got nowhere.... I think my computer's bricked over here and I'm in need of a computer technician to help me on this frustrating and very troubling problem.
Anyway, for those that love specs, here's my computer's specifications below:
* Intel HD Graphics
* 4GB Samsung SODIMM DDR3-1333 RAM
* Intel Celeron processor clocked in at 2.16 GHz
* 500GB Western Digital HDD
* 2 USB 2.0 ports
* 1 USB 3.0 port
* 1 HDMI port
* 1 Ethernet port
* 1 DVD/CD burnable disk drive
* Logitech M385 wireless mouse
* Amazon Basics external keyboard
* Sony headphones for private listening
* BIOS: InsydeFlash F.41
I even went back and downgraded the BIOS from F.42 to F.41 but nothing happened, so I pretty much have a bricked computer over here, I think and yes, I checked the hard drive a few days ago for bad sectors and found none.
In the meantime, I just have my secondary computer out which has utterly nothing on it except for Waterfox.
No photos, no videos, documents, settings, programs, nothing at all on the second computer on my jerry-rigged laptop stand while my main primary computer is MOST likely kaput, or I could be doing something wrong here…
I’m starting to really wish I had a professional computer repair technician on speed dial over here so I don’t have to suffer through this. I got stuff on that computer that hasn’t been backed up yet!!!

Any tech help will be highly appreciated!
Give it a good long time after the password screen, and try a CMOS reset. BIOSes are a pain when they go wrong, especially on machines with no bios flashback lol.
Great idea! Thanks for the tip!
*You guys need to remember to NEVER use the HP Support Assistant for any sort of BIOS updates. I do not care what model you have, DO NOT use the HP Support Assistant, ever, for BIOS updates. Disable automatic updates in general for HP Support Assistant, or for that specific BIOS update. There are numerous reports of HP Support Assistant BIOS updates bricking the computer. Your best bet is to download the HP BIOS update from your model's driver page manually, and then run it.* I have updated my HP computer's BIOS from the manual executable download at least 7 times, and not a single problem has appeared. HP Support Assistant works ok for regular Driver/HP Software updates, but not for the BIOS. The people in HP forums themselves have said to never update the BIOS from the HP support assistant software.
I'm doing this but the run never says "successfully complete" and the option to select finish. Is the download complete on the flash drive??
well i did now my pc is not coming like juss a black screen i see the little light on the front bottom on the computer but the screen is juss black and when i unplug my power supply for abt 10 seconds and plug it bck in it came bck on
Yea the Hp support assistant can't do shit. The crazy thing for me was in order for the software to run I had to use .Net framework v4.7.1, which isn't supported in win 8. 😂
HP gives corrupted bios . My laptop did not start and always recovery failure no function keys working
You have to wait for several minutes after you restarted the PC after recovery of the BIOS, as the screen said.
I should've done that when I was filming this two years ago, drat. Thanks for the tip!
@AmongUsFan2020 The screen said for a few minutes after restart, not several minutes
@@WickerBasket9 The waiting for several minutes after restart thing is false. Most of the time, the computer is supposed to start up in maximum 5 minutes after a BIOS update. If not, there is a problem with the update.
O O F.
3:58 invasion of cat. My prayers for ya long-run in comp.
I forgot that my cat did that while recording, lol.
Hp so called service technition are useless. instead of helping you they will tell you to go to a link. The pc will tell you to update your bios. When you get the bios from THEIR driver page and install it. The pc will tell you you dont have a operating system
Idk why but when ever i update my bios if theres any block wrong even 1 block it just start automatic recovery
I just facing the same issue here. urghh so stressful and im afraid that if my computer keeps on rebooting it will cause further problems sigh
Did it fix
very disappointed with the way HP handles their BIOS updates. Almost like 50% of the time it fails, even if you did the steps correctly. Having HP bios updates work like a charm is like a very lucky once in a while chance. I once updated a HP bios and the next thing it was doing BIOS recovery automatically after flashing boot block 2 times. Luckily it booted up fine, and it was showing the new bios version in the system details, so maybe it was just a few bios blocks which was having the problem. I remember updating the bios on a Dell and it worked like a charm, without any problems. HP seriously needs to have some better BIOS update method.
Yeah, they really need to fix this since I just looked at the motherboard on my other PC the other day and there is no way to reset the BIOS in case this happened (which happened on the computer I was filming at the time of recording). On the other hand, I got my data and everything's all good to go with a new computer!
@@WickerBasket9 Yeah, and motherboard replacements arent cheap
@@WickerBasket9 I really like the dell bios updates on the other hand. They almost never fail, and there are only very rare cases when they fail. And when they fail, the dell bios can recover itself quickly.
@@WickerBasket9 Only very rare cases with dell motherboard replacements. But HP motherboard replacements, lots of cases
@@WickerBasket9 I would highly recommend DELL pcs to anyone who is looking for a new computer. It is much better than hp in terms of bios updates
How to fix this.. I'm also having the same problem..
Did you find any solution?
Open laptop back pannel and just remove bios cell and reinsert it then put back pannel back and dont put battery just connect charger and then first press windows + b key then press power botton but continue holding windows + b for 50 seconds then your problem will be slovedd

i have a solution. So power your damaged hp pc on and Let HP complete its bios recovery. but when its stuck on the black screen just let it sit for an hour or two. if its still stuck at the black screen then your bios is bricked

@@WickerBasket9 Ok
*This is much more important than you think* , but did you update the BIOS on that machine from HP Support Assistant or from the standalone update (if you don't know what that is, it is downloading the BIOS update executable manually)? I will tell you why that is important after you reply to me which method you remember using.
I did it via the executable method before I filmed this.
@@WickerBasket9 Chances are, that BIOS released by HP is faulty. That has to be the only reason that happened if you did it via executable.
@@WickerBasket9 Hopefully they released a fixed one.

Nah, I gave up after filming this and kept the PC in my drawer but since there's no way of resetting the BIOS. I checked because when my sibling opened up the laptop two years later, we found out that there's no way to reset the BIOS for the computer shown in the video, thus rendering the PC essentially bricked. However, I do have a spare motherboard on me so I can swap it with that one and use the bricked one for spare parts.

Why post a video of failed repeated attempts at recovery unless you're asking for help? You only wasted other's time who are in the same boat as you.
Well, that's just rude. For one thing, I posted this video of me trying to recover my computer's BIOS and another thing here is that I was asking for help on how to recover my computer over here so your comment is invalid. Besides, if you're just gonna drop that kind of comment on my video of me trying to recover my machine, then don't watch the video. Thanks! :)

Nope. I gave up recovering my computer after originally filming this video, which was a long time ago.

You know when people say choose carefully which hill to die on for me after many struggles and many victories in the fight to keep my laptop running this was ultimately the hill i chose to die on lol. Jesus brought lazrus back from the dead just for the romans to kill Lazarus again which is a metaphor of me and my pc relationship over the years. The sad part is i had turned off automatic updates and when i booted up the computer one day it updated its own bios by itself saying the other one was old then started counting down like mission impossible briefcase about to self destruct and was totally out of my control Soo thanks HP. Thats checkmate! Honestly, it's like the fourth HP to die on me so its not really a huge surprise it usually just forces me to upgrade which in the long run is a good thing it's like they say progress usually hurts. Wish i could give some kind of technical savvy advice to fix it but i think the only thing i can say is put the bricked pc in a Rage Room and get some closure. Tnx for posting.
A little bit late for the response, but you're very much welcome for watching my rant on HP!
I ultimately looked up the nearest pc repair place and there was a little shop right down the street from me that fixed the bricked pc in a day for about 40$ bucks. I did however upgrade while i waited for the other laptop to get repaired just cause, Thanks Ebay! The guy who repaired it told me the fault was not in the bios but had something to do with the HP hardware. I was not surprised.

I have similar problem. Updating the BIOS and everything goes fine but then my HP laptop show nothing. I tried both recovery process using key combination (windows + B key) with and without USB recovery.
I see my HDD is broken (original HDD when I bougth the laptop). I have no idea if broken HDD caused the recovery to not launch or there is another problem.
Even HP support page related with BIOS recovery said if recovery BIOS not launched could be caused by HDD error.
So, is it true the BIOS recovery is lauched from HDD (from software installed in original HDD) and not from BIOS chip? If that so, user without original HDD would not be able to recover their laptop if they have the original HDD broken.
Could anyone confirm this?
My original HDD is broken and I could not recover BIOS using any key combination (no display at all but fan and turned on and power indicator looks normal)
