Rachel- my partner of 9 years ended our relationship this year, and I had to let go of our apartment and move back in with my parents. Your attitude and strength is inspiring to me and I hope I can make it back on my feet as well as you!
Hi there! I’m there too. Although I’m fortunately the one who stays in the appartment, my relationship ended unexpectedly after twelve years. It’s pretty rough at times and just wanted to share this so you know you’re not alone. I’m working on making over the apartment to make it feel like my home instead of our home where he walked out. We can both do this!💪🏻
Aw Rachel, if it makes you feel any better when we were touring apartments in my city, we found a place and applied, and got it. Paid, signed the lease! And then the landlord called my past landlords, and rescinded the offer because of a past legal dispute with her over our security deposit that she kept unlawfully. I was devastated and so hurt about the whole situation. A couple weeks later, we found the PERFECT house!! And it was a better location, bigger house, with a garage. Everything happens for a reason. Even if it hurts. So excited for this new chapter for you

I'm sooo happy you found what you were looking for and can't wait for the DIYs to come for this space, 'cause we all know the sorry girls hook each other up!!! Lol. Congrats on your beautiful home.
I know it's really disappointing to have lost the second apartment, but when I moved to Toronto and was embarking on apartment-hunting, I was advised to be ready with my references, credit statement, and other application info to apply on the spot. I don't think that man was trying to lead you on, or that he had a previous offer -- if your email and application had come in first, he would have gone with you. I actually admire his ethics where he isn't looking for a bidding war. In Manitoba, we don't even bid on apartments -- the rent is what is listed.
I've been in a situation where I looked at a place, loved it and immediately said I wanted it and the landlord told me I got it and that he'd send me the details on signing the lease in a couple of days. And then when I haven't heard back when he said I would and followed up, he ended up telling me he went with a different offer in the end. In the meantime I've cancelled showings for other places so that really sucked. So while I understand in this instance it sucked for Rachel, I can't fault the landlord for sticking to his promise to whoever made the first offer. And it is quite possible he got that offer in the few hours between Rachel seeing the place and sending her e-mail. Things can happen really fast. I did end up finding a much nicer place so it all worked out in the end, but there was a lot of unnecessary stress because the landlord didn't keep his word. And for what it's worth, of the three places Rachel looked at I do think the the loft is the nicest space!
This is how it is in Vancouver BC as well (no bidding war) but it is however FCFS. They aren’t gonna wait while you run a few errands..they are gonna hand the keys over to whoever is ready to give a deposit etc. how I got my current place. My landlord told me they have a few other viewings booked that day but if I send a deposit it’s mine.
Bar keeper's friend is great for cleaning stainless steel and I would also get stainless steel appliance cleaner for that streak-free look! Also with such a light and airy space I think a dark and dramatic bathroom would be a total vibe
A lovely loft! I like the "modern museum" aesthetic, and am looking forward to seeing future episodes on how you design this space. Also, more Butter and Noodle, please!
The new apartment is so pretty. I love the layout, the windows, the loft-like feel. So sorry that the one with the tub didn't work out, but what I have learned over many years of being single is that I can love anyplace I live. It's the presence of my things and my cat and my friends/family that makes it home. Hugs to you!
This is a classic tale of what is meant to be will be. It is strange how in life, when things seem overwhelming, a little time and everything begin to fall into place little at a time just how it should be. "thankful for unanswered prayers comes to mind. So happy for you! It is great to se you smiling!!
I think this is the best one! Tub or not, I can’t imagine a cooler space to live! So much potential, but the bare bones are incredible. So happy for you! Can’t wait for more❤
As a fellow cat lady I cannot wait until I see how you incorporate cat things into your new stunning space! I bet the kitty's love all the sun bathing they can do with those windows.
Stainless Steel Counters Tip: Never wipe stainless steel against the metal's grain. Always wipe with the grain to prevent streaking. Try not to allow your stainless steel appliances to air dry after cleaning. Buffing them with a clean microfiber cloth minimizes streaks and spots and restores the shine.
In a clean surface I use a little olive oil in a cloth, probably better if it is microfiber. But it must be very clean first cause it will make a mud paste instead 😅
Door closed, window open. Sometimes it’s painful and awkward climbing through, but so worth it once the struggle is over. Here’s to your next chapter! Cheers!
This video hit the nail on the head for me. Our landlord is selling the house and we might be homeless in a month cause there's a housing crisis in ireland and its so frustrating trying to find something. Thanks for sharing the vulnerable moments
Maybe things are different in Canada, but where I live, if you like the apartment, you apply immediately, while you're still viewing the place, if possible. You don't say I'll be in touch, because the place will be gone. Sorry it happened to you, but that's pretty common. I've actually showed up to an appointment just for them to tell me they just rented it.
Your new apartment is stunning and I can’t wait to see what you do with it. Those windows and high ceiling are the dream! Insuite laundry and a dishwasher are so great. This was my fav of the three places. ❤
I have a condo in an old mill building - totally understand your excitement! Congrats! For your counters, e-cloth microfiber cloths (cleans with water only) then use their flat weave cloth to get rid of the streaks.
I always say things happen for a reason, that third apartment is SO YOU Rachael. So happy you found your new apartment. Can't wait to see what you do with it, Onwards and upwards girly!
Congratulations on finding a beautiful apartment to call home! I really enjoyed seeing Rachel’s journey and can't wait to see more episodes on this apartment. It's refreshing to see a young, single renter in Toronto portrayed on this channel. I love the content of Becky and Kelsey renovating their dream homes but for those of us who are still renting, this series is super relatable!
I wrote a poem a few years ago about how similar looking for a house and a partner feel-you’re envisioning your future with someone/something, and it can be really vulnerable if it doesn’t work out!! I “lost a house” when looking for a rental and called it my heartbreak house from then on. the emotions are so real!! so glad you found “the one” :’)
I'm so happy that Rachel found her dream apartment! The converted warehouse/industrial loft has also been a dream space for me and I'm super excited to see how Rachel styles it! I'm going through a similar phase of life right now (my ex and I just broke up and I need to figure out a living situation) and it's so nice seeing what those next steps look like.
Would love to see some pulley systems in the design (maybe office desk/dining table) to take advantage of the high ceiling + making the spaces transformative! Congrats on a beautiful apartment!!
I’ve been in an extremely similar situation apartment hunting as when they used you to cover their bases. It’s so frustrating and I cried too. You’re not alone in those feelings!
I couldn't picture a more perfect space for Rachel! Congrats girl 🎉❤ Also...collapsible tub. They make them, they are handy. Can't wait for this series!
Wow! We literally have had the same situation. When my ex and I split, I basically left everything but the mattress, microwave and my tv with him. I moved back in with my mom until my new unit was ready and built from the ground up! It’s going to he such a fulfilling journey and I wish you all the best! Also the tenants in my building also leave items to be reclaimed in our lobby as well! ♥️ I love that!
It might be weird to say, but I think this is one of my favorite videos of yours. Especially because I know that you are about to get to display a lot of your own style, and your own art, without having to consider others. This is your space, your freedom, where you can develop your feminine and masculine energy, for whichever energy you wish to develop most whether creatively or whatever else. I'm super excited to see the journey. And I'm definitely super excited to see if you do choose to decorate for fall, halloween, Christmas, winter 😊 of course design and decorating for everyday things as well! I just can't help that I love fall and winter season/holiday decor. 😅 But I look forward to this metamorphosis of Rachel. Processing emotions and situations is key.
As a recently single gal in my late twenties, my life flashed before my eyes when you lost that bath tub. Baths are my sanctuary... I fear I went insane without one lol (Im an empath xP ). The hours long pamper sessions that could have gone on! BUT PLEASE your new place is amazing beyond belief! You're going to make the best new memories there! So many beautiful and exciting things to look forward to!
Congratulations Rachel on your new industrial apartment. I love the open, airy, & natural light of it. You have so much room to work with. I can't wait to see what you come up with on your decorating & furnishing journey, just like the other Sorry Girls. Wishing you all the best!
Honestly this apartment is fabulous! I used to have an office so much like this in the UK and I loved it and still miss it! You are a million dollar girl Rachel and you deserve this fabulous place. I feel like I want to buy you a sofa honey. Sending lots of love - Amanda xxxx
I live in a flat for 20 years now with only a shower. Never ONCE did I miss a bathtub but I thank God every day for an accessible shower. - Dark and moody bathroom only when it has a window. Otherwise it will feel like a box.
To prevent streaks on your countertops, use a slightly damp cloth followed by a dry cloth. Letting the counters air dry is most likely why you’re seeing streaks. I even use plain water on my stainless steel appliances and as long as I dry them afterwards, there are no streaks.
OMG I can totally relate to how frustrating apartment hunting can get. I had to move a lot after graduation and mostly looked for places without a realtor. The amount of letdowns and disappointments can really take a toll on anyone. The last time I had to move was the worst and I almost had a panic attack when the move-out date was getting closer and I still couldn't find anything. Luckily I managed to find a great place with a great landlord right before the deadline and I lived there for 5 happy years before leaving. I'm glad things worked out for you. Now I always look at misses as something not destined for me. If something is yours, it will always be there for you no matter what.
GORGEOUS !! If the bed was actually lofted it would be my dream place! Absolutely stunning, can’t wait to see what you do with it! Actually changing rental spaces is so new to me so very excited 🥰
The apartment looks great but oh my goodness you can't just show me the two floofiest floofs and expect me to be able to pay attention to an apartment! They're so freaking cute! I'm zen just watching YOU pet them.
Thanks for sharing what you’ve been going through. I have been trying to read your face for some months and now it makes sense. I am so happy that you are feeling happy. You are such a wonderful one.
Gurl, thank you for being vulnerable and showing great emotional intelligence skills, you reacted to that unsavory realtor perfectly! And the new apartment is so cool, I'm sure you're gonna make it so so great 🎉
Great space! So happy for you! Looking forward to your decor vids. I know you will put a lot of charm and creativity into the place. Have a great week! 😊
Fate. One door closes another door opens into such a BETTER space!!! This is gorgeous & you haven’t even begun! Leave #2 in the dust! Wow can’t wait to see future projects. Well done!
Rach, daunting as it seems, you've got this. I'm glad you're happy and excited. Please remember you're not alone. Hoping you'll fill this flat with friends' giggles, creative design choices, and wholesome memories. Your cats are gorgeous muffins. Best wishes all the way from Poland ❤
Losing a place you kind of have your heart set on is emotional. Happy you found a great lift space, it's going to be so special to you. Your cats are adorable!
I'm happy you have a new place to be excited about. When I retired I moved over 1,000 miles northward. 1st in a Motel 6, I found an apartment for myself, 2 cats, and my youngest's childhood doggo for the few months while I searched for my forever rural property. For me it was very temporary. And as a bored former homeowner: it fixed all of the flaws noted in my rental agreement. When I moved on, I was offered a job: detailing other units. Thanks, but no thanks. Your cats must either be magical beings: or really, really, love you.
Sending a hug for the tears of not getting the first apartment. We all face disappointment in our lives and expressing your true feelings is the best way to feel better.. Plus sending an even bigger hug for joy at the awesome apartment you did rent. I can't wait to see how you and probably some help from the team turn this into home. You have just turned another corner of life. Wishing you all the best. Becky's Mom. Connie
Love the loft! The entry is so welcoming even without furniture yet. The in unit washer/ dryer is great! That kitchen is fabulous & set up in a great layout. So many cabinets!! So glad you found a place to settle into and move on in life! Cute fur babies.
I am a landlord and I don't think he was leading you on (second place you looked at). You don't know how many times I have been told "I will be applying right when I get home" only to see nothing. I call the person back and they just say "oh, I found something else", or they don't even bother to answer. As a small landlord we have so much to lose if we can't get a unit rented. I know it is very frustrating when you really want a place, but I don't think there is a way to solve this problem. BTW I love you and your new place!
I’m so sorry, I know how you feel! I recently moved into my second choice apartment, I was so excited about my first choice and not getting it felt like a huge blow. I’m happy you ended up finding something you love, good luck! I’m sure you’ll make it beautifully yours!
Moving to Canada in November and I can’t wait to start apartment hunting! This video has me pumped for it. The ONE is amazing! It suits your style Rachel and I can’t wait to be inspired with what you will do to the space.
Just read your comment... I hope you know what you are getting into because, unfortunately, finding an apartment in Canada these days is not a piece of cake. There is a housing shortage across Canada and the rent prices went through the roof. Also, be aware of the scam :)
this may be too niche but as i've been taking care of my mom's cat i started making random cat furniture / window seats / scratching boards for her and it's been pretty easy and fun! maybe some cat DIYs? Edit: clearly I posted this before you mentioned wrapping the beam 😂
I feel you! I just left my husband after 20 years. Moved out without almost any belongings but we got this. We know what we want or at least what we don't :) Beauty of life is your ability to start over ❤❤. You are beautiful, talented and strong. Your new place is amazing it was my favorite! Can't wait to see you decorate it❤❤❤😊
Ooooh, I can’t wait! Also I think a dark bathroom, may be the way to go. Since you didn’t get the bathtub you wanted for a cosy vibe, this could do the trick instead?
I agree that it wasn’t right to show you that place when the owner was already in process with another. On the positive side- finding “the one” must have been such a weight off your shoulders. I can’t wait to see future videos from you!
That's so interesting. In Germany we do apartment hunting quite differently. They usually have them listed somewhere, you contact them for a viewing, which is either separate or with other people together who are also interested in it. If you're interested, you fill out a form and so do all the others. An then you have to cross your fingers and hope the landlord chooses you amongst all the applications. There is no offer or one person after another. What upset you in this episode is pretty much the norm here. It's either luck or no luck. And you always look at as many apartments as possible, even at once and fill out many forms for the landlords. And hope one chooses you. If you then decide you don't want it, you can still back out, and the landlord chooses the next person in his applications list.
Racheal I just wanted to give you a big hug. Two years ago when I was looking for an apartment in the US it took me 11 months to find an apartment. So I know how discouraging it can be. I’m so glad you found a place that you liked.
I love the new apartment and girls sometimes we just have to cry. That’s the way it goes. Don’t let nobody tell you they don’t cry because they do and I know that that apartment is going to be beautiful.

I really felt it when you talked about losing that space you loved. I’ve been in the same situation, and my emotions may have come into play as well. I hope nobody criticizes you for that, but I certainly won’t. That is so cute and I cannot wait to see what you do with it. Good luck in your whole new arrangement, And keep on making great content.
It’s beautiful!!! I’m so happy that you found your perfect home! After a break-up you need somewhere safe to give your heart the time and space to rest before you grow and bloom again.
He didn't already have an offer when you showed up or deliberately lead you on. You saw the apartment and decided NOT to put an offer in until several hours later, during which time other people put in their offers. He can't just not rent the apartment to anyone else because you "shook his hand." It was your own mistake.
Congratulations on your new apartment! It’s fantastic & don’t apologize for tears. Life brings us these things to teach us & make us stronger…you passed with flying colours girl!!! 😊🙌🏻❤ Can’t wait to see what you do with the place and your cats are gorgeous & sweet.
I'm sorry you feel led on and had a difficult time with the one landlord, but you're wrong here and being a bit unfair. Major metro markets move quickly. If you'd seriously wanted that place, you needed to put in an offer on the spot. You can't leave and think about it. He didn't trick you or have an offer when you came and saw it, you just moved too slowly. It's happened to me, too. It sucks, but your characterization isn't fair at all.
I’ve had stainless appliances for 30 years. My appliance dealer has always recommended using WD-40 to polish. Spray and wipe with microfiber cloth. Then buff with a separate microfiber cloth. Looks like brand new. This should work unless there are scratches or clouding from previous renter. Love your fur babies.

If Rachel drags a bit of that orange wood into the bathroom for decor ✨ so hype
I don't know that this will work for Benches but baby oil on a cloth is great particularly for rangehoods and stainless steel rails
Additionally, do NOT use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Seems "counter" intuitive, but apparently they don't recommend that you use it on stainless!
Use Baby oil to wipe
In a clean surface I use a little olive oil in a cloth, probably better if it is microfiber. But it must be very clean first cause it will make a mud paste instead 😅
Drying with a waffle-weave cotton cloth (with the grain) also works
13:36 omg I feel exactly the same way! I could listen to Becky talk about design for hours and never get bored. She’s so passionate! ❤
Lord help this family to find accommodation. For mercy’s sake amen
You werent being dramatic at all, that shit is exhausting. Its soul crushing and soul filling. I'm happy you found your new home ❤
Wishing you tons of joy and peace in your new place! Hang in there, girlie -- great things are coming ❤
Ooo I’m excited for this!
yesss!!! gunna be so fun
Me too!
When my ex and I split, I basically
left everything but the mattress, microwave and my tv with him.
Countertop dishwasher. Game changer.
Vinegar for cleaning stainless steel. Use it from a spray bottle. Rinse it with water and wipe it with a cotton cloth. Hi from Croatia, Europa!
Honestly this apartment is fabulous! I used to have an office so much like this in the UK and I loved it and still miss it! You are a million dollar girl Rachel and you deserve this fabulous place. I feel like I want to buy you a sofa honey. Sending lots of love - Amanda xxxx
rach's rental sound so cutee !! can't wait for the full tour one day ❤❤
can't wait to show you 🥰
I live in a flat for 20 years now with only a shower.
I've found that cotton-waffle weave works best for the drying cloth
For stainless steel use some baby oil on a cotton cloth. We use it on the boats to make them shine. Less is more !!
They do make wonderful pop up tubs now ! Just have to use near a drain . Love the place and can't wait to see all the things you'll do with it !
Wow I love your new space! So much potential! Defenitely the best of all 3 options!
Thank you for your vulnerability. This is human, this is real. It breaks from the usual template. It feels fresh and relatable.
Congratulations on your new home. I'm looking forward to seeing the transformation.
P.S. This is the best apartment of the three, by far.
Hey it’s okay to cry especially when you’re frustrated, I’m currently looking for an apartment myself so I feel your pain!!
GORGEOUS !! If the bed was actually lofted it would be my dream place! Absolutely stunning, can’t wait to see what you do with it! Actually changing rental spaces is so new to me so very excited 🥰
I absolutely love this space!!! I've always dreamed of living in a loft space like this! Congratulations. Can't wait to see what you do.
Woooow I love all of the natural light, that would cure my seasonal depression *immediately*
When you clean the benchtops put some baby oil on a microfibre cloth and wipe them over, works ok with my sink. Don't use it too much.
Congratulations. Sorry things have been tough. I guess that's life though. Good thing's to come I'm sure.
Fate. One door closes another door opens into such a BETTER space!!! This is gorgeous & you haven’t even begun! Leave #2 in the dust! Wow can’t wait to see future projects. Well done!
Everything happends for a reason 💕🍀you find a better place 🤞❤️🇸🇪
Rach, daunting as it seems, you've got this. I'm glad you're happy and excited. Please remember you're not alone. Hoping you'll fill this flat with friends' giggles, creative design choices, and wholesome memories. Your cats are gorgeous muffins. Best wishes all the way from Poland ❤
15:24 project profit is one of my all-time favorite RUclips series!!! I love when creativity meets impact ❤❤❤
Your new loft apartment is fantastic - so glad that it worked out for you. It really does have a cozy feel - can't wait to see what you do with it!
Rachel! I love it! Congratulations! 😘😘😘
Connie
Congrats on your new home for your new chapter 🎉
You could run your desk along the back of your couch, depending on what you get of course 😊
thanks so much!! 🥰
So exciting, Rachel!!! Live your new space and can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Power paste for the counter tops :) natural polisher
Love your new place. Have a blast decorating and exploring your new area. Excited to follow.
i’m so excited for this!!
get excitttteed!!! ❤
It suits your style Rachel and I can’t wait to be inspired with what you will do to the space.
oh amazing!!! good luck in the apartment hunt. hope you find a spot you love ❤
Just read your comment... I hope you know what you are getting into because, unfortunately, finding an apartment in Canada these days is not a piece of cake. There is a housing shortage across Canada and the rent prices went through the roof. Also, be aware of the scam :)
I’m very happy for you. A new chapter in your life. Have fun with doing your apartment.
Looking forward to seeing all the things you are going to do.
this may be too niche but as i've been taking care of my mom's cat i started making random cat furniture / window seats / scratching boards for her and it's been pretty easy and fun! maybe some cat DIYs? Edit: clearly I posted this before you mentioned wrapping the beam 😂
I feel you! I just left my husband after 20 years. Moved out without almost any belongings but we got this. We know what we want or at least what we don't :)
Beauty of life is your ability to start over ❤❤.
You are beautiful, talented and strong. Your new place is amazing it was my favorite! Can't wait to see you decorate it❤❤❤😊
Ooooh, I can’t wait!
Also I think a dark bathroom, may be the way to go. Since you didn’t get the bathtub you wanted for a cosy vibe, this could do the trick instead?
the amount of times I have cried over an apartment is astounding. I feel you.
I agree that it wasn’t right to show you that place when the owner was already in process with another.
On the positive side- finding “the one” must have been such a weight off your shoulders. I can’t wait to see future videos from you!
such a relief!! can't wait for you to see the rest of the series! its gunna be so fun 🥰
Ohhh I love this type of videooss❤❤❤
yay!! so happy 🥰 going to be a fun series to take you all along on!
@TheSorryGirls love Rach's style. I can't wait to see her put it all into her new home. ❤️
I love the new apartment and girls sometimes we just have to cry. That’s the way it goes. Don’t let nobody tell you they don’t cry because they do and I know that that apartment is going to be beautiful.
clicked on this video so fast after seeing the notification! so happy for you on the new apartment Rachael, excited for the videos to come in this series! 💜💜
yay!! so excited to show you 💖
Moving/ looking for an apartment is honestly the most stressful thing I’ve ever done. Crying is so realistic. I’m so happy for you.
Hey Rach - Def go with light minimalistic aesthetics for the bathroom! Lots of good luck for this new space :)
thanks for the suggestion 🥰
I'm excited to see you change the spaces with your now defined style!
