    My father after seeing my numerous crosses and crucifixes around the house asked me why I had them . I told him I just never wanted to forget what Jesus had done for me. That seemed to satisfy him.

    The cross itself is just a cross. What makes the cross an instrument of salvation for humanity from sin and death is Jesus nailed onto this cross.
    Cross + Jesus = Heroic act that saves humanity forever.

    That's a question only a heretic could come up with. Why would I want to just look at the instrument of his death instead of him on it? With him on it I am reminded of his sacrifice he made. Also a crucifix has the sign King of the Jews on it as well. Otherwise you just have a Roman instrument of death.

    • @CatholicTruthOfficial
      @CatholicTruthOfficial  6 лет назад +2

      Good point. You have only an instrument of death that thousands were killed on by the Greeks and Romans. 2000 Spartans, for example, were crucified on the Appian Way of Rome alone. And thousands more were too I am sure.

    I would like a explanation about why some protestants insists that the bible says no one in in heaven yet, even with scripture to prove the good thief and Elijah ,Enoch, the saint and blessed Mother are all there ,they adamantly deny it. Did the sacrifice of JESUS Not reopen the gates of heaven?

    • @CatholicTruthOfficial

      Louise Williams I think that is a good question to ask them. And any Protestant who actually believes that can comment here. Though I would imagine that most Protestants don't believe this. Only some denominations. Especially since the Bible teaches the exact opposite. That people are in heaven.

      @@louisewilliams8904 Haha. Yes, that sounds about right. Instead of seeing the plain facts, they just insult you. Ad hominem attacks. It reveals that many people simply have been misguided and misled. However, converting people and saving souls is always a slow process. We plant seeds and we pray that god water those seeds and open their eyes at a later date. Make no mistake, they will remember the things that your said and the Scriptures you gave. There's a lot of ignorance regarding the cross and crucifix among many Christians. The truth is both of them are healthy symbols of faith, for they both tell the same story. The cross (and crucifix) aren't exclusive to particular denominations, but they are instead religious pieces used by all types of Christians who believe Jesus died on the cross for their sins and that he's the Son of God.

    I really don’t get why this is such a dispute amongst Christians, especially Protestants who berate Catholics for wearing a crucifix. It makes no sense. Some even downright claim it’s idolatry but I feel like Protestants use that word far to much and do not understand the necessary context. The main purpose behind that commandment was obviously not to worship other gods. The use of idols was a representation of how most people worshipped other gods at the time. God did not prohibit the use of images, icons, or representations of things. If that were the case a person should not have any photos or pictures hung up around their house. His command about not creating images of anything of the heavens was only put in place during that time because he had not revealed himself yet to the world. With his incarceration as Jesus he gave the world a physical manifestation of God. So no, it is not wrong to have images of Christ in your home. As long as you don’t worship the image itself, but rather what it represents then it’s fine.

    Hey @Catholic Bryan another great video. I have a crucifix and always grew up with one as well. Question for you, what is your opinion on the crucifix with an image of Christ resurrected? By that I mean an image of Christ not exactly nailed to the cross. It almost looks like he's ascending or resurrecting from the tomb. I am curious as to what your thoughts are on that image that is pretty popular in churches.

    Everytime I look at it, it indeed is a reminder of what he did for us, for me. It definitely makes me second guess before I make the wrong decision. It makes me think that he didnt every deny what he was so we can believe in his word. Many of us in that same position would of said, you know what I'm not God just so I wouldn't be killed in such a way, but all my credibility would of gone out the window. That's why Jesus Chris has the most followers till this day in this whole world. Bless those who didnt see me and believed than those who saw me and doubted me.

    Even as a Protestant I always preferred Crucifixes as a reminder not to sin. I since have a Crucifix over my home prayer altar/shrine & a Risen Crucifix over my bed lol. Protestantism is so bland & modernist. No art, no aesthetics, no beauty. Aesthetic evangelization helped me come home to Rome. The Church on Earth must be identifiable. You’re lucky if you even see a cross on the stage (notice I didn’t say Altar cuz nothing is being sacrificed) in most modernized non-denominational “Churches”. The Risen Crucifix ends the debate. Crucifix it is!

    It depends.
    If you look at the top of any Catholic church you’ll see a bare cross with no corpus* on it. Why? We know we serve a risen Lord and at the highest point on a church His cross can be seen without His body upon it as we know He is in heaven.
    Inside the Catholic Church you’ll find an altar and near the altar will be a crucifix. Here we find the body of Christ on the cross reminding us of His once for all sacrifice and Who we are receiving in the Eucharist.
    *Corpus - “Body” in Latin for those of you in Rio Linda

    • @CatholicTruthOfficial
      @CatholicTruthOfficial  5 лет назад +3

      Hey friend. There are many problems with your comment. #1. Catholics don't worship idols. #2. Jesus is on the cross to remind us of his death and his love for us. #3. The cross was a Roman torture device. Many people died on crosses. It's a generic device. But with Jesus on there, it makes it a Christian symbol. #4. Catholics have crucifixes and crosses that are empty. One symbolizes Christ's love for us on the cross, the other symbolizes his power and resurrection. #5. Just because Catholics have crucifixes doesn't mean he is still dead. It's just a symbol. Paul in the Bible says that we preach Christ _crucified._ So, do Catholics. Because that's where our salvation comes from.

    But you must also remember, the crucifixion of Christ itself can't save you, it's the crucifixion and the resurrection that saves you. If Christ died but never rose again, then there would be no salvation. That why christianity is centered around that 1 specific thing...
    The Resurrection.
    The bible says that if Christ never risen from the dead, then all the preaching would be in vain and making all of it null and void.

    • @CatholicTruthOfficial

      It's focused on the cross and the resurrection. It's not either-or. It's both, and. Without his body and blood, we would not be saved, and it's his body and blood that accounts for our sins and conquered death. That's why Saint Paul in the book of Corinthians doesn't say that we preach Christ risen, he says we preach Christ crucified. So let's not pit these against each other. They go hand-in-hand.

The council of Trent states if you believe your saved by faith alone without works then your cursed! even in death your not truly saved (your belief in purgatory). You even try and have mary save you , you even ask priest and dead saints to ask jesus to redeem you. A cross without jesus on it would confuse your whole belief system. St Paul didn't have a crucifix or a cross around his neck. It's not biblical at all it's a symbolic and man made.

      St Paul also didn't drive a car. That's also man-made. Not biblical. Are they evil? But we agree with what you said, that the cross is symbolic. That's exactly what it's supposed to be. A symbol of Christ's love for us and what he did out of love for us.

    I’m a born and raised catholic but I always (messily) remove Jesus from my crosses if he’s there because I don’t like seeing him there. It makes me feel totally sick. I mean, it’s a cross, it’s like, if he was drowned for 6 weeks would we want to see his bloated distorted corpse forever more or focus on the message. The message that he died for our sins so we can go to heaven doesn’t really count if you’re divorced or gay so my whole family are doomed anyway. I think the message is softer and more gentle. It is about kindness, but the image of the crucifix, I suspect, is a fearsome message from part of the old church.

    • @CatholicTruthOfficial
      @CatholicTruthOfficial  5 лет назад +4

      Thank you for the comment. However my friend, we do not get to decide what Jesus's message means or try to soften it to make us feel more comfortable. Jesus never softened anything He said. Ever. The comfortable Gospel is a false Gospel. With that being said, people who are divorced are not necessarily doomed. Nor are "gay" people. Of course, God doesn't want divorce, but sometimes circumstances necessitate it. The prohibition in the Bible is against _remarriage._ One may get divorced but not remarried. That was the reading in church today, that those who remarry commit adultery.
      Being gay is not a sin. Most homosexual people did not choose it and cannot help it. Living the sexual gay lifestyle makes it sinful, but someone could live chastely for Christ and they will go to heaven. There are many homosexual Catholics who live chastely and follow God's commands. And there are many heterosexuals who don't follow God's commands.
      The message of the crucifix is love, that even though we are all sinners, Christ died for us to forgive us if we follow Him and to set us free. Thousands of people died on crosses. The cross is just a torture device. But a cross with Christ on it shows something much more, the love of God. It sounds like you might have to work out some personal issues you have between you and God. I will pray for you in this. May God bless you,.

      Catholic Truth yes please, it would be great if you could pray for me thanks. I’ve been living chastely for years because I’ve been so distraught with family medical issues, my life has been on hold for so long. I’d like to think I will one day have a loving caring relationship of my own again since it’s been a quietly lonely road for quite a while. I’m lucky I am good friends with my folks, but they won’t be here forever and I’d like to think I deserve the same happiness and tenderness in my later years that any man or woman would hope for in the same circumstances.

    People were crucified nude.
    Crucifix are inaccurate.
    Anyway...
    Matthew 26:27 ESV -
    And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, Drink of it, all of you,
    Your church requires you to disobey Jesus.
    For nearly 500 years the cup has been withheld from lowly non-priests in the Catholic Church. This is not a trivial doctrinal disagreement. Jesus made it clear when speaking to his disciples in John chapter 6 that if you do not obey and eat and drink than you have no life in you. And you will not be raised up on the last day.
    Flee this anti-church like you would flee the Antichrist.

      @Nick
      In this response my opponent acknowledges that during the weekly Mass he watches from a distance while the priest drinks the blood which Jesus commanded us to drink.
      Jesus was abundantly clear that all christians are equal in value and are to be treated equally.
      He cooperates with the perverse hierarchy which directly implies that the lowly non-priests are less than the priests.
      Matthew 23:8-12 ESV -
      But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ. The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
      Again, flee the anti-church, there is no context where one Christian should drink and the other should watch.
      Christians are to be brothers.

      I will add this as well.
      Scripture does **not** teach the idea that we need to send anyone for us to the throne of God to ask for grace or mercy, anyone including Mary. On the contrary, we are warmly invited to approach God's throne.
      Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV -
      *Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.*
