    Wow! Great analogy! Thanks so much for clearing that up.....I have seen several tutorials where all that is used is glue, but I honestly thought they just didn't want to mess w nails and such. Thanks again for helping me understand. Now if I could just find some 1/8" ply! :)

    yes that will be strong enough. You can glue a small strip of wood purely for safety in the corners. I weigh over 100 kg and I can sit on the cajon.
    Very stable.

  • @MartyLuminarty

    Well....... How does it sound ?!

  • @skoi2222
    @skoi2222 10 лет назад +1

    Great ! I wonder why you gave that strange shape for the hole in the backplate ?
    Does it modify the sound ? how ?

  • @diyforge
    @diyforge  11 лет назад +2

    Thus, the cajon has a good sound is the main frame has only been glued. With white wood glue. No screws and no nails. The back plate provides stability 5mm. The main frame is composed of simple rectangles. You do not need special tools.

  • @diyforge
    @diyforge  11 лет назад

    The cajon is an acoustic instrument. So that the sound is clean all surfaces to be glued. Except for the front panel. This is with many small screw mounted. A guitar or a violin would not mount with screws and nails.

  • @GeorgeStrangeDrums

    how did u attach the main frame together, i dont have equipment to do a rabbet joint and don't feel like a simple glue and nail will be strong enough, did u nail or did u screw it together, thank you

  • @diyforge
    @diyforge  10 лет назад +2

    I used plywood because it is the easiest and cheapest matrial for me.
    do you have the opportunity to buy boards from 30x40 cm pine are very straight?
    I have no experience with it but you can test it easily.

      Yes, I have one that is put together only using butt joints with wood glue, and it is still fine 10 years later. Many people well over 200 lbs have played it with no problems, so no worries.

  • @pablojavierhenriquez
    @pablojavierhenriquez 9 лет назад

    just in case: that is a spanish cajón because it got metal pieces in it, the peruvian cajón is only the wood box and no more pieces.

    • @pablojavierhenriquez
      @pablojavierhenriquez 9 лет назад +1

      si existe el cajón español/andaluz, a diferencia del cajón peruano el cajón español tiene bordoneras u otras piezas metálicas adentro para darle ese sonido. como tu dices, es un cajón que nació cuando paco de lucía lo importó a españa desde perú y le agregó las piezas metálicas. que no haya mencionado su origen peruano no significa que lo haya negado.

    • @2Fa2Bu
      @2Fa2Bu 6 лет назад +1

      Pablo Henríquez. En Perú ya se habían experimentado la fabricación de cajones con cuerdas y bordoneras y otros materiales ... , pero para la música criolla peruana se optó por no usarlos ya que al dejarlos sin cuerdas no perdían sonidos graves y era el sonido que los de antaño preferían. (Te hablo de la década del 50 y 60 cuando ya veía esos cajones experimentales). Por lo tanto, podrás llamar Cajón Flamenco al estilo de tocarlo más no a la construcción del instrumento.

    PERÚ agradece al mundo la difusión del CAJÓN sin falsear su nombre. En un proceso cultural de siglos, PERÚ desarrolló el CAJÓN en diferentes tamaños y materiales, CON CUERDAS Y SIN ELLAS. Llamarlo 'flamenco' es tendencioso. ¿Si lo uso para rock, jota o salsa será CAJÓN ROCKERO, JOTERO o SALSERO? Saludos

    • @robertoveg
      @robertoveg 6 лет назад

      Tiberio Agripa nadie dice que sea rockero!! Solo lo tocan diferente pero sigue siendo en esencia un cajón peruano. Soy peruano y me da gusto que sea del agrado de los luthiers extranjeros y músicos el cajón. Los luthiers pueden modificar el cajón o cualquier instrumento para adaptarlo a un estilo musical!!

    • @robertoveg
      @robertoveg 6 лет назад

      Tiberio Agripa Ya se aclaró que el cajón es peruano, un cantante de flamenco que llevó el instrumento a Europa lo aclaró!¡

      A rope is twisted around the wooden axis. We shorten the rope with the turnbuckle and the wooden axis rotates. With this we regulate the pressure of the snare. Please have a look at my other videos about cajon. That makes it easier.
