- The video shows how spring hot coil is processed. Big diameter springs are utilized in a variety of industries such as automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing. This process involves heating a rod to a specific temperature, shaping it into a coil, and then cooling it to retain its desired form.
The process includes rod taper, heating, coiling, quenching, grinding.
Once the rod is prepared, it goes through the heating stage. The rod is fed into a furnace or an induction heating system, where it is heated to a precise temperature that depends on the material's characteristics and the desired spring properties. This temperature is typically above the rod's recrystallization temperature, allowing for increased ductility and easier shaping.
After reaching the desired temperature, the rod is rapidly fed into a coiling machine. The coiling machine rotates the rod while simultaneously applying tension to create the desired coil shape. The rate of rotation and tension applied determine the pitch, diameter, and number of turns in the spring.
As the coiling process continues, the newly formed hot coil is often subjected to stress relief annealing, wherein the spring is heated to relieve internal stresses caused by the coiling process. This annealing process minimizes the risk of spring failure due to residual stress.
Once the coiling and annealing processes are complete, the hot coil is cooled using various methods such as air cooling or quenching. This cooling stage helps the spring retain its shape and mechanical properties.
Depending on the desired spring characteristics, additional post-processing steps, such as shot-peening or surface treatment, may be applied to enhance strength, durability, and corrosion resistance.
The completed hot coil springs are then inspected for quality and undergo additional testing to ensure they meet the required specifications. These tests often include dimensional measurement, load testing, stress testing, and fatigue analysis.
Overall, the spring hot coil process combines precise heating, coiling, and cooling techniques to transform wire into functional springs with exceptional elasticity, strength, and resilience. The process is crucial for producing high-quality springs that can withstand demanding applications and meet the diverse needs of industries worldwide.
