Quit simply the best measured 2 point perspective instruction video I have seen. The only thing I would add is locating the station point using the cone of vision and explaining which cone angle you chose and why.
I spot an error at the 8:30 mark when you do the height of the bigger volume's roof. You had to project from the measuring line, the corresponding vanishing point line(s) so that the height is transferred to the middle point of the volume, as the plan indicates. This means that the roof is distorted. Am I right? Thank you for the video.

If I am correctly interpreting your question, I think the issue you raise is addressed at the 2:10 mark when I transfer all of the elevation heights. It is also quite possible that I have missed something here and would benefit from further clarification. Please let me know if I this satisfies your question. I love the exquisite complexity of this kind of drawing and am committed to getting it right.
If memory serves me right in my 20's I skipped using the middle point because I thought, it will cause a distortion. Well, I ended up with a distorted mess that I would try to hide from my instructor by trying to redraw it. 🤣🙄
Why does the picture plane line run through the plan view? And why so often (in other videos) does it tangentially meet the plan view -- in other words: shouldn't there be an allowance for a foreground? I have been watching these instructional videos and I simply don't understand the placement of the picture plane line. Please help!
excellent question! the picture plane can be placed anywhere, so the question of where it lands is more about the composition that results from different placements. we place it on the corner for the ease of translating the measuring line. You could place the picture plane behind the plan and it would work but adds a layer of complexity and flattens the 2-pt perspective view. If the picture plane does not intersect or touch the plan, you have to project a line from some edge to the picture plane......so much to take in....best thing about this drawing is that you can still visualize an idea in perspective even when you make mistakes.
I don't understand though how close to the actual picture plane should we put the diagram of our plan view? It seems since we get points projected from the object to the stationary point at the point the intersect the picture plane, it then seems that where the picture plane is put can't be arbitrary as shifting it will effect the end angle that we get... uff I have no idea how to explain this clearly... I have looked all over for videos to clarify this but can't get an answer...
