Will be using this pattern so thank you. Tip: if we had sleeves too short, Grandmother made ribbed knit cuffs and sewed them in. Fond memories

I found this after you posted the Instagram short. I love finding "fabric" from the thrift store. Curtains and sheets have become more than that and this jacket is a fabulous idea!

OMG that is so weird!!!! I made a mosasaur costume for my kid using that same blanket! Because that’s what he wanted to be 🤷‍♀️ The texture made it very .. Cretaceous.
    Great video 👍

i have a quilt i bought. going to make this. but think i will use the blanket hem so i don't have to do too much sewing. i might make a zip on sleeve so i can also wear it as a vest

You could added a ribb8ng cuff to both sleeves and waist to add length and contrast.
Also used both sides of the blanket for contrast too.
    Nice make though

Could you try to make one of those quilted winter jackets? The telogrieka or something. Similar to modern puffy jackets. I think the Russians used them for a amount of the 20th century. They have a very nice look to them.

Great idea! I have a thrifted blanket that I was looking for a pattern to make a jacket out of, but now I realise I can just do it using my own jacket or shirt as a guide to make the pattern. Looks great! I may try to cut out the fronts and sides with the edges at the bottom so I can use the bias bound edges as a pre-made hem.

This is bombastic! I am inspired to buy a sewing machine and start experimenting 😘

Looks great. Personally if I realized the sleeves were too short then I would have used more fabric but used the opposite side. I probably would have color blocked the collar, sleeves or cuffs, pockets and maybe yoke. It would have and a bit of personality too.

I think I understand the purpose of a yoke, but it didn’t seem like you made any darts, or shaping when it was sewed to the bottom of the back…would it have been the same to just cut the back as one whole piece? Thanks!
