  • This in-game cinematic covers the events that happened after the captured Shivan Cruiser Taranis was towed to Tombaugh station.
All of the events here are canon compatible except for the lost of the Myrmidon.
The data package sended to the Krios contains, among other things:
-Unknown Vessel has some kind of shield system and our conventional weapons are unable to punch trough.
-Unknown Vessel has a large amount of fighters and bombers onboard, estimated over x2 of a Orion.
-Unknown Vessel has powerfull forward facing anti-capital ship canons, avoid at all cost.
-Around 40% of Tombaugh Station was evacuated, due to the large amount of transports that were already docked to the station.
-The captain of the GTC Aegis is A.W.O.L.
-GTC Odin is under heavy fire, survival unlikely.

“Only these were not like the others. They did not die. ”
Understatement of the franchise. I love that line so much, it doesn’t say much, but by the time the game is over, you realize those two sentences completely sum up the entire fall and destruction of the precursors. And by the end of Freespace 2, you realize those terms are absolutes. They are *not* like any of the others; they genuinely cannot be stopped.

I think my favourite detail of this is the two Satis Freighters still docked with Tombaugh Station as it goes down, presumably trying to evacuate as many people as they could only to be tragically caught in the blast.

Another great cinematic video. This really makes you wonder the utter slaughter that happened at that station and we never got to see until now. They couldn't even defend themselves at all, not with their tech at the time. Would have been interesting to see how different it would have been with beam cannons on all allied ships and better fighters and bombers im sure the battle wouldnt have been so one sided

"Would have been interesting to see how different it would have been with beam cannons on all allied ships and better fighters and bombers im sure the battle wouldnt have been so one sided": I highly recommend the Blue-Planet-Series - Age of Aquarius for that 🙂 not the same as this battle, but some kind of "Rematch"^^

Well, it was a lot less one sided than Riviera Station or the Volition version attack in the ref bible. And a little bit of spoiler here, remember that this and Retreat from Deneb are my version of the FS1 events, so im not limited by the canon, the information that the Myrmidon sended to the Krios ends up to be vital as the Krios will be sended to investigate the attack. It was only due to that the Krios knew how to position itseft, as the sides and the rear are relatevely safe, and that a single Orion should not try alone. So the Krios and the Bastion will mount an attack while the Lucifer is bombarding Ribos 4 using Medusa and Tsunamis that the Krios has onboard (that was being developed in Antares), all this while the Galatea cover the evac ops in Ribos. Unfortunately all this will end up creating a false sense that the sides of the Lucifer are safe, and that will come back to bite the GTA in Deneb.

@@shivanSpS The Lucifer is an absolut Beast of a Ship. And Shivans always adapt their "fielded Firepower" in Reaktion of the Resistance they encountered. ImO it's sometimes more interesting to make your own Versions of certain Events. They don't need to be completly different, but maybe more expanded likw u did. Which would make them a bit more Interesting. Wrote a lot of "expanded" Versions of certain Events for FS 1, 2 and even Blue Planet. Just a Hobby of mine.

@@captainandros True, FS is among the best Sci-Fi-Pieces in Gaming(Simulatorwise seen). I played that absolut Crap out of FS 1 & 2(the unnerfed Versions!). Didn't get my fingers on Silent Threat though. Wrote even a Crossover where the Shadows from Babylon 5 somehow got dragged to the FS-Universe. Shadows vs Shivans...Hell unleashed in it's finest.

Freespace 2 is such an Old Game. It's hard to believe it still has an activ Community. But it has! This Cinematic is very well made. And brought the Matter to the Point: The Shivans are unstoppable, at least at that Point. You could sense the Fear of the People(even through the computergenerated(?) Voices). Also nice to see some Vasudan-Ships there. Well, don't know if they were there orignaly, but i like it. Very nice Work. How long it took to make it? Srsly, i don't wanna know 🙂

I started working on it around 3 weeks ago, im not sure how much time it took, but i already had written the script a few months ago. The cutscene is not that hard to make once you have a clear vision of what you want. One of the hardest parts is the music belive it not, here the first song is called "Vendetta" and it works really well, hell even the name fits. But i definately made a mistake with the second one, i may change that in a revision later, but im going to wait for the new Lucifer model to be released first.

@@shivanSpS I believe it when it comes to Music. To find the near-almost-perfect music is always the hardest Part for anything. No matter if for a cinematic, a story or anything else. The only good thing is the Fact that you don't need to make the Music yourself. There are a lot a free-use-songs on YT. And i mean a Lot^^ Fair-Use and Mentioning, and everything is fine, or am i wrong about that? Haven't read to much about that Things 🙂(yes, i'am lazy)

Canonically, I think the attack on Tombaugh Station happened 11 days after the Taranis was disabled and disarmed in ?Ikeya?.
According to Command Briefing: The Taranis was assaulted on January 31, while Tombaugh was attacked on February 11. The disbriefing on the Taranis capture also said that Alpha 1 and his wingmen can relax for a few days.

1 year late, yeah, the attack happened 11 days after the capture, this is the date displayed in the video.

Really shouldn't have bought that ship on an open system station... but then again, not even Jotunheim can handle this with little or no covert hiding action.

    • @sebastianlinke5663
      @sebastianlinke5663 2 года назад +1

Definitely not the brightest Idea. Jotunheim might have had a chance, if the Hades would've been finished at that Point. Because GTI revamped the old Hades-Version to battle the Lucifer(and the Vasudans afterwards,). But, it wasn't finished, so yeah. No Chance in hell any Station would've stood a chance against the Lucifer at that Point.
