    Just use mods when you feel like it. They screwed me over once in a while because i underestimated the diff spike on hardrock but i'd recommend them for maps around 1 - 1.5 stars under your current level since you should be able to beat most of those effortlessly.

    I started using DT pretty much since the beginning of my osu journey, as soon as I learned about pp I started using tillerino and got pps from Normal diff maps HDDTHR. After that I stopped using Hidden and now I'm at the point where learning it is just too frustrating. Knowing that I would be able to get a lot more pp on my level just by using hidden is killing me but I simply cannot force myself to play it. Funny thing is, since I mained DT for such a long period of time I struggle to FC 5* nomod map, and have literally no problems with fcing 6.5~ nomod, while my top DT play is almost 8*.

    OSU! Was and has been my first PC game, after a slew of console racing and shooters. I used HR early , around low 7 digit, to see if I can put myself on pace since at the time I was only strictly using mouse 1 & 2.
    Around 800k started using HRDT exclusively on lower star maps to get myself used to the speed and precision aspects (moved to z & x keybinds)
    Now at 600k, I find myself using HD on anything I have FC’d at 95%-100% to push that barrier further and see how a top play at a lower rank is less than a warm up now. I usually do HDHRDT around 1.9-2.3* or HDHR anything between 2.7*- 3.2*.
    Want to try to pass low 4* soon and work on jumps and burst so that I can eventually start stream practice

  • @rudyranger249
    @rudyranger249 4 года назад +3

    I've started using DT a lot ever since I suddenly jumped from streaming 220 to 250 bpm. Before then I was using HR a lot since I wasn't really good at streaming high bpm. Though I mainly use HD since that's how I do better with before and after. I don't use DT to farm since my aim isn't really good with jumps. I mainly use it to train speed so I can prepare for maps with high bpm streams (such as rivers of nihil - hollow) in the future.

    NC is indeed for cultured people, thank you for making that statement.
    Now i only disagree with you on 2 of the mods: EZ and most notably HT. While being able to read EZ helps you understand more dense patterns and focus more on the beat, which are both things that can happen at high difficulty plays, HT will help you understand a pattern better, making it easier to program your brain to run your fingers as they were supposed to. You practice it slow, or with more dense notes, and then remove that cap to get your pattern learned.
    WhiteCat uses it for a reason. BTMC also recommends the use of HT to learn a complicated pattern. But mostly i trust on those statements because i tried the HT trick myself to learn the storytellers diff spike, which i had trouble putting my fingers to work on that, i practiced a few times and then went back to the original map and since then i havent got a single finger control issue on that. Occasional aim slips because well thats one problem i have in general to fix. But all in all HT helps to learn patterns as much as EZ helps you to not get lost during a harder/faster map, that is if you can read EZ with proficiency...

    • @chadolosu

    funny thing is, right after playing the osu tutorial, I immediately went for dthdhr since while configuring my options, I noticed mods and clicked on it and saw a bunch of mods, I was like "Whatever, I play rhythm games and the tutorial was easy, How hard can it be?"
    You could guess how it went, I kept on failing and failing because I didn't know how hidden worked I couldnt hit any notes, Until I realized that you had to tap when the note fades away and once I found out about that,Although My acc was trash,the ar was a bit too fast for me and I kept missing, I was able to pass maps and this is how I found my main mod, Hidden, I find hidden so much fun to play and so I practiced it and immediately knew that this was going to be my main mod with dt and hr for an extra challenge.
    Honestly, If it werent for hidden, I probably would've stopped playing osu when I first started it for a few months, But hidden kept me captivated.

    I like how this is a direct contradiction to one advice I heard a lot last time : 'play hr to improve reading and reaction'. Yeah it basically doesn't change anything at 2 stars but at 3 stars it becomes unplayable for a person with 5 hours of playtime. Who ever made that advice caused so many people to quit/develop bad habit by playing wrongly istg

    • @awpa8976
      @awpa8976 4 года назад

      I got the advice to stop playing with mods when I was trying to pass a 3 star map, but I ended up ignoring it after getting stuck for 2 months and started playing hdhr every single time. Now I'm still a 6 digit and I always had an easier time reading when the ar is 10 and with hidden (thus, hdhr because it made all the 3 and 4 star maps ar 10). The problem now is that I have a lot of difficulty reading ar below 10, and one other consequence is that I can't read most hddt maps that is supposed to be easy for me because they are ar 8 + dt which is around less that ar 10. I can only read ones that are 8.4 and above with DT, and most of those are all out of my skill level.

    • @awpa8976
      @awpa8976 4 года назад

      @@choojunwyng8028 of course I was overexaggerating that I "can't read below ar 10" , but I have a really hard time trying to *even pass* using nomod on maps that I have 95% acc FC with HDHR on them. So it feels way harder than it should be because I will keep on tapping too early on jumps. (In comparison, it basically feels like I'm playing with the EZ mod but its more readable than that). If I practice hard enough, I definitely would get better at it and I won't have this problem I'm having, but its not really fun for me to play nomod, so I end up just playing HDHR all the time.

    i wish fl was an easier mod to sightread, because it really stands out right now. because every mod, even ez, even dt, even hddthr is sightreadable but in many cases fl simply is impossible to sightread. like if you end a combo at the bottom right and start a new on at the top left there is no followpoint to tell you it would be there. however, if the game were to use only the 0 combo fl cursor (for maybe a 1.08x score buff then rather than 1.12) all the time we would have plenty of fl mains and sightreaders. fl just stands out too much and it's not really like any other mods.
    also, if the ez and hr mods weren't so ingrained in osu playerbase, i would make ez decrease all diffsettings by 1, not halve them, and also hr increase them by 1. this provides still a relatively linear scale and allows both mods to actually be playable and usable. ar8-9 6* is still fairly easily readable while ar5 is starting to push it.
