I main nomod. HD - it messes with my reading | HR - I know people say use it to improve your accuracy but i say use it to get better at OD10+AR10 because it did not help me in any way that wasnt AR10 | DT - I like it but my fingers arent that fast so i cant fc anything | any other mods - no. Shortly: use the mods you like and do NOT think that playing with a certain mod will make you BETTER at the game FASTER. You only going to be better at those type of plays and NOT nomod.
the problem i have with hidden is that i literally have no clue when to click. since the approach circle is gone, i just have to guess when to click and im horrible at guessing. so all my hd plays have like almost only 100 and 50 and a lot of misses
funny thing is, right after playing the osu tutorial, I immediately went for dthdhr since while configuring my options, I noticed mods and clicked on it and saw a bunch of mods, I was like "Whatever, I play rhythm games and the tutorial was easy, How hard can it be?" You could guess how it went, I kept on failing and failing because I didn't know how hidden worked I couldnt hit any notes, Until I realized that you had to tap when the note fades away and once I found out about that,Although My acc was trash, the ar was a bit too fast for me and I kept missing, I was able to pass maps and this is how I found my main mod, Hidden, I find hidden so much fun to play and so I practiced it and immediately knew that this was going to be my main mod with dt and hr for an extra challenge. Honestly, If it werent for hidden, I probably would've stopped playing osu when I first started it for a few months, But hidden kept me captivated.
ive been playing since may 2018 and i only just completed an easy map with NCHR for the first time a couple weeks back.... i havent even touched hidden, not to mention im a 7 digit with 180 pp
If we are taking profile pp as a measurement, you can really improve it insanely quickly by playing hd on nomod farm maps. I started playing hd, jumped from 5.5k to 6.5kpp in 2 months, then played tech only for a while and then my first 400 was also with hd.
I started using hr around 5.5k pp. I guess I started a bit late since my ar10 is already really good and all I have to worry about is aim and fingercontrol.
I would actually recommend using hd when you first start the game. First by reading maps nm or hr only, and then with hd. This really helped my hd reading as I progressed through the game. The same for ez, as a lot of people lose their ability to read low ar as they become better.
bananya personally I've never seen it, and I've joined those lobbies with high rankers because they've either just gotten on or are about to get off, and they know they won't struggle so they don't need to sweat
Talking from personal experience, I had a trash monitor so I always use hidden since high AR was impossible on it with approaching circles, now I usually play 5-6* but I've became ultra reliant on HD and cannot play without it. My circle reading skill is non existent. so yeah, don't start using hidden to early or you'll have to relearn approach circles.
Agreed about the early high AR reading. Don't start using HR as your main if still low rank, don't be like me who can't read No Mod. But for some reason, I can read HR and EZ but not No Mod.
i’m a recent player ish w 3 days in playtime, i’m playing everything on hidden because my accuracy is ass and i press the side of the circles so i can see the number in the middle. but with hidden i can press the center of a circle more. even if it’s harder
"you should use start using hr around 3500 pp and dt around 2000pp" me: *checks my pp count (255pp) also me: looks like i'm not messing with these 2 for a LONG time
300k and I use DTHD/NCHD for farming 3 star maps tbh, and given enough tries (7-10 tries) for a map I'll perform better with hd than nomod (except if it has even a slighly spaced stream or burst)
I like how this is a direct contradiction to one advice I heard a lot last time : 'play hr to improve reading and reaction'. Yeah it basically doesn't change anything at 2 stars but at 3 stars it becomes unplayable for a person with 5 hours of playtime. Who ever made that advice caused so many people to quit/develop bad habit by playing wrongly istg
I got the advice to stop playing with mods when I was trying to pass a 3 star map, but I ended up ignoring it after getting stuck for 2 months and started playing hdhr every single time. Now I'm still a 6 digit and I always had an easier time reading when the ar is 10 and with hidden (thus, hdhr because it made all the 3 and 4 star maps ar 10). The problem now is that I have a lot of difficulty reading ar below 10, and one other consequence is that I can't read most hddt maps that is supposed to be easy for me because they are ar 8 + dt which is around less that ar 10. I can only read ones that are 8.4 and above with DT, and most of those are all out of my skill level.
@@awpa8976 As somebody who made a similar mistake, I can tell you that the only thing you can do is to take a step back, start playing "easy" maps with nomod starting from below your "skill level", you haven't learnt a fundamental part of the game by using hr so early, and maybe HD as well, try get consistency on
@@awpa8976 I don't think you 'cant read below ar10', you're just uncomfortable with it. what is the average acc you get when you play hdhr? 90? 95? 99? No one "can't read" a low ar, its nonsense.
@@choojunwyng8028 of course I was overexaggerating that I "can't read below ar 10" , but I have a really hard time trying to *even pass* using nomod on maps that I have 95% acc FC with HDHR on them. So it feels way harder than it should be because I will keep on tapping too early on jumps. (In comparison, it basically feels like I'm playing with the EZ mod but its more readable than that). If I practice hard enough, I definitely would get better at it and I won't have this problem I'm having, but its not really fun for me to play nomod, so I end up just playing HDHR all the time.
me who only plays hd (no nm really anymore) and is just now picking up dt as a person who has only played hidden for almost half a year i cant play nm anymore....
Bryce Games i’m sure these some term for it, but i’ll go with “ar-locking yourself”. for me, after using only hr for about a year it became extremely difficult to read anything below at 10 and low cs is also kinda hard. this is why higher players recommended not stepping too far out of your comfort zone, which results in ar-locking
I started playing hr pretty early my low ar reading skill is pretty bad but that's mainly because I don't find it fun if I wanted to learn it I would. high ar dt is easy to learn playing ar11 helps improving high ar reading speed
This might just be me, but I started playing HR around 2k pp and immediately got my top play with it 2 times in 1 day. It might just be because I was already an acc focused player but I’m pretty sure you don’t need to wait until 3.5k pp to learn it.
HR can be really helpful for those who struggle to get good accuracy. That skill will then transition to when you play other mods and it'll make it easier to get really good accuracy when you play with mods besides HR. Also, why would you need to read ar7-9? You don't really get that much pp from it xd
If i feel like i cant aim a map i play relax before i try it again and aftet that i have the confidence to aim it correctly relax is for me pretty important and helps me get normal scores (no im not a 6dig)
eh while i do agree with most of the points you make for when to use mods, it doesnt exactly apply to someone who doesnt farm for pp anymore. ive been at the same rank for a good 3 months now and honestly i think you should try using nomod as much as possible and occasionally use other mods so you could still get experience with other mods while prioritizing nomod which is crucial to improvement.
i used to 3 mod 3 star maps for the first few weeks of playing, yeah it get me 600k with under 600 play count, but i feel like i have a huge skill block because of it
i wish fl was an easier mod to sightread, because it really stands out right now. because every mod, even ez, even dt, even hddthr is sightreadable but in many cases fl simply is impossible to sightread. like if you end a combo at the bottom right and start a new on at the top left there is no followpoint to tell you it would be there. however, if the game were to use only the 0 combo fl cursor (for maybe a 1.08x score buff then rather than 1.12) all the time we would have plenty of fl mains and sightreaders. fl just stands out too much and it's not really like any other mods. also, if the ez and hr mods weren't so ingrained in osu playerbase, i would make ez decrease all diffsettings by 1, not halve them, and also hr increase them by 1. this provides still a relatively linear scale and allows both mods to actually be playable and usable. ar8-9 6* is still fairly easily readable while ar5 is starting to push it.
personally I learned hard rock and ar9+dt and I've majorly payed for it in constantancy I can keep up with harder maps but often make simple mistakes in lower difficulty maps I have over 400 hours in the game and due to this mistake I am stuck at 6 digits even though I play 200+ times everyday. Don't end up like me wait before you try mods. I'd rather be slower and have weaker aim then no be able to play any map consistently. :)

hddthr is a hard one.
FrenZ: "at that point (3500pp), 200 pp plays are more than possible".
me: *sweating nervously looking at my single 200pp play at almost 3600pp*
Well, I got 2 plays, but they're easy 20second maps..
don't feel bad. when i had 3500 i think my highest was like 170-180 lmao
I got My first 200pp at 4.4k pp
i just got my first 200 the other day at 220k :D (it was cut the crap :(( )
@@ecifircas0 i think i'm the only one who got his first 200 with hardrock x.x
I main nomod.
HD - it messes with my reading | HR - I know people say use it to improve your accuracy but i say use it to get better at OD10+AR10 because it did not help me in any way that wasnt AR10 | DT - I like it but my fingers arent that fast so i cant fc anything | any other mods - no.
Shortly: use the mods you like and do NOT think that playing with a certain mod will make you BETTER at the game FASTER. You only going to be better at those type of plays and NOT nomod.
Depends I guess, I'm a main HDHR player and my accuracy transfered to nomod a bit.
dont even got to watch the video and i can already say, whenever you want. enjoy the game
the problem i have with hidden is that i literally have no clue when to click. since the approach circle is gone, i just have to guess when to click and im horrible at guessing. so all my hd plays have like almost only 100 and 50 and a lot of misses
funny thing is, right after playing the osu tutorial, I immediately went for dthdhr since while configuring my options, I noticed mods and clicked on it and saw a bunch of mods, I was like "Whatever, I play rhythm games and the tutorial was easy, How hard can it be?"
You could guess how it went, I kept on failing and failing because I didn't know how hidden worked I couldnt hit any notes, Until I realized that you had to tap when the note fades away and once I found out about that,Although My acc was trash, the ar was a bit too fast for me and I kept missing, I was able to pass maps and this is how I found my main mod, Hidden, I find hidden so much fun to play and so I practiced it and immediately knew that this was going to be my main mod with dt and hr for an extra challenge.
I have 6k pp and started playing hd and i feel like its gonna be a slow improvement
If we are taking profile pp as a measurement, you can really improve it insanely quickly by playing hd on nomod farm maps. I started playing hd, jumped from 5.5k to 6.5kpp in 2 months, then played tech only for a while and then my first 400 was also with hd.
Rudolf Sigmund can i see your profileee?
Rudolf Sigmund i wanna try some more maps
I started using hr around 5.5k pp. I guess I started a bit late since my ar10 is already really good and all I have to worry about is aim and fingercontrol.
I main RX and one thing I gotta say is that tapping really tanks your aim hard.
I would actually recommend using hd when you first start the game. First by reading maps nm or hr only, and then with hd. This really helped my hd reading as I progressed through the game. The same for ez, as a lot of people lose their ability to read low ar as they become better.
so true. oftentimes i'd see a top 1500 player looking to chill on a 4-5* lobby then immediately dying due to the low ar.
bananya I don't think any decent top 1.5k does that unless they're failing to not submit
@@chadolosu i've unironically seen it happen multiple times. a lot of high rank players use hr for that reason, but ehh
bananya personally I've never seen it, and I've joined those lobbies with high rankers because they've either just gotten on or are about to get off, and they know they won't struggle so they don't need to sweat
DTHR 1 star first week of playing :D
Talking from personal experience, I had a trash monitor so I always use hidden since high AR was impossible on it with approaching circles, now I usually play 5-6* but I've became ultra reliant on HD and cannot play without it. My circle reading skill is non existent. so yeah, don't start using hidden to early or you'll have to relearn approach circles.
Agreed about the early high AR reading. Don't start using HR as your main if still low rank, don't be like me who can't read No Mod. But for some reason, I can read HR and EZ but not No Mod.
8:22 this is so true to me
I begin when i want.
lol
i’m a recent player ish w 3 days in playtime, i’m playing everything on hidden because my accuracy is ass and i press the side of the circles so i can see the number in the middle.
but with hidden i can press the center of a circle more. even if it’s harder
When i started . It felt slow . I put on HDDTHRFL . That's where the fun came in
"you should use start using hr around 3500 pp and dt around 2000pp"
me: *checks my pp count (255pp)
also me: looks like i'm not messing with these 2 for a LONG time
Frenz: "You should play with DT at around 1.5k pp"
Me, a hdnchr main with only 590,000 rank: "ah shit here we go again"
playing that mod combo on 1* doesn't mean anything because it barely changes the difficulty
If u cant even read anything over 4* it really doesnt matter if its under 2* in diff originally
Below 2 stars doesnt change that much difficulty lol. Play on 4 stars with those mods
I've always just used HR because it was fun
me who only plays hd (no nm really anymore) and is just now picking up dt
as a person who has only played hidden for almost half a year i cant play nm anymore....
I became a full Hard Rock main at 900k and look at me now, cant play without Hard Rock anymore. oops
sure
So you cant play slow maps?
same lol
What do you mean you can’t play without hr anymore? I can understand hd players saying that but how does this even work for hr??
Bryce Games i’m sure these some term for it, but i’ll go with “ar-locking yourself”. for me, after using only hr for about a year it became extremely difficult to read anything below at 10 and low cs is also kinda hard. this is why higher players recommended not stepping too far out of your comfort zone, which results in ar-locking
my favorite mod combo is Nofail Score v2 i hate dying and getting pp i use it 100% of time playing solo
have a great day you too
And here I am absolutely terrified of DT
Im just not a speedy person ;(
I started playing hr pretty early my low ar reading skill is pretty bad but that's mainly because I don't find it fun if I wanted to learn it I would. high ar dt is easy to learn playing ar11 helps improving high ar reading speed
-_-
This might just be me, but I started playing HR around 2k pp and immediately got my top play with it 2 times in 1 day. It might just be because I was already an acc focused player but I’m pretty sure you don’t need to wait until 3.5k pp to learn it.
i DT a 5.5* at rank 400k. 1400pp. new top play.
slight problem is that it was way above my skill and i can really beat it... yet
HR can be really helpful for those who struggle to get good accuracy. That skill will then transition to when you play other mods and it'll make it easier to get really good accuracy when you play with mods besides HR. Also, why would you need to read ar7-9? You don't really get that much pp from it xd
you lost me at the ''you dont really get that much pp from it'' lol
@@johon127 Lol, I just said to get people mad xd
Ghost Den shut up noob you make me mad now 😡
@@hiiiii5_405 Sorry, I just got back from farming Harumachi clover.
Does AR even affect pp?
I don’t know why but I have a PP of 500 and I absolutely love playing with Flashlight once I FC a map with DTHR
If i feel like i cant aim a map i play relax before i try it again and aftet that i have the confidence to aim it correctly relax is for me pretty important and helps me get normal scores (no im not a 6dig)
I personally think Hard Rock is just a more tame version of DT but that might just be me idk I find HR easier
I didn’t even know about mods until playing for 5 months lol
eh while i do agree with most of the points you make for when to use mods, it doesnt exactly apply to someone who doesnt farm for pp anymore. ive been at the same rank for a good 3 months now and honestly i think you should try using nomod as much as possible and occasionally use other mods so you could still get experience with other mods while prioritizing nomod which is crucial to improvement.
i've used HR so much that i can't read below like a 9.8 AR
I have been playing for 4 days now and I can finish some Normal Maps with HR on 🙂
I started using hidden when i was ranked 900k and i don't recommend just using hidden play map at least 4times use hidden then do no mod
I generally always use hd unless it's a stream map or has a specific jump pattern
5:06
Me: using hidden on 700pp because it's kinda funny
I played strictly HD from ~800pp to about 2.2kpp. Horrible mistake, took two months to get reasonable accuracy Nomod again
i used to 3 mod 3 star maps for the first few weeks of playing, yeah it get me 600k with under 600 play count, but i feel like i have a huge skill block because of it
Thank god i watch this early
Me at 120pp using DT and HD to make my 2 star maps more interesting
i wish fl was an easier mod to sightread, because it really stands out right now. because every mod, even ez, even dt, even hddthr is sightreadable but in many cases fl simply is impossible to sightread. like if you end a combo at the bottom right and start a new on at the top left there is no followpoint to tell you it would be there. however, if the game were to use only the 0 combo fl cursor (for maybe a 1.08x score buff then rather than 1.12) all the time we would have plenty of fl mains and sightreaders. fl just stands out too much and it's not really like any other mods.
also, if the ez and hr mods weren't so ingrained in osu playerbase, i would make ez decrease all diffsettings by 1, not halve them, and also hr increase them by 1. this provides still a relatively linear scale and allows both mods to actually be playable and usable. ar8-9 6* is still fairly easily readable while ar5 is starting to push it.
lol as a player whos used hidden since I could barely fc 2*, its incredibly difficult to read no mod for maps i can easily pass with hd
personally I learned hard rock and ar9+dt and I've majorly payed for it in constantancy I can keep up with harder maps but often make simple mistakes in lower difficulty maps I have over 400 hours in the game and due to this mistake I am stuck at 6 digits even though I play 200+ times everyday. Don't end up like me wait before you try mods. I'd rather be slower and have weaker aim then no be able to play any map consistently. :)
I would only use ht to learn parts that don't know how to do when on regular speed
I literally start HRDT farming Sotarks' 2.5* maps at 390 pp lol
I started playing HDHR Jump (5-7*) maps as 500k and now as a 240k I can beat 5 digits in any jump maps
Maybe you can beat someone but that's impossible that you can beat guy higher than 40-50k
X to doubt
5500 pp and I barely touched hr... I'm just getting into dt and alternating but I think I'm improving
TP is in time with the BPM. It ignores mapping and is completely random.
For me hr feels comfortable and matches up to my speed
I begin playing HD on 2018 and i cant even play without HD NOW
Same here, but i started on 2017
I use rx when i dont if i cant do the jumps after i play with rx i play with ap so i know and when will i press the keys
Where is the dt screenshot
How to AR10?
Man i started using HD when I'm still around 67pp
Now i can't turn it off because i can't read nomod
This doki doki pic at the end
I was able to pass 5 star maps with b to a on my first week playing
Dayuuummmm
Started using hidden 2 days after I started and never went back.. tried to learn no mod and it just never clicked with me.
......i dont even know when i started using HD ....i think i just enjoy playing with it that it became my main mod.
Oh my god someone finally pronounced Osu! Correctly!!!
I can't read HR without HD
