Mind blown from 8:50 to 9:08!!! Talia did exactly as her dad Ra's said to do to those who stand in the League of Shadows' way - stab them in the back!!! I can't believe I never connected these dots!! That's the thing about Christopher Nolan's movies, you learn something new you missed earlier! A true auteur and filmmaker of these times
That was an extremely good retrospective and now I feel like watching the trilogy back to back over the weekend. Awesome work man. These movies are truly the pinnacle of superhero films.
Thomas Davidson Have all 3 soundtracks on my iPod... quick little fact, track-listing on Batman Begins tracks 4-9 spell out "B-A-T-M-A-N"! #AvidNolanLover
There's quite a few retrospectives for this exceptional trilogy, but this one is one of the best. Fantastic job! "The idea was to be a symbol. Batman could be anybody. That was the point."
This short 10 min video retrospective of the dark knight trilogy on my walk home was enough to pump me and make me watch the Trilogy again even though it's 3 am in the morning in Austria/Vienna :D For me Batman Begins the best movie out of the 3 and one of the best, no the best ORIGIN STORY for a Comic Char on screen !!!
Chris Cooper With it being a 10 minute challenge, there were a lot of ideas I had to drop for this video and the use of that line was one of them. Thanks!
***** Not really, I just try to do them as part of a 10 minute challenge I set myself as not many people can commit to watching anything longer. But one of the next projects I'm making is aimed to be around 10-20 minutes due to the length of it.
Thanks a ton man. Just watched BVS Dawn of Justice against the advice of a lot of people. Can't seem to get the shite out of my head. Needed to refresh on what Batman actually is. This video was perfect.
Respect the Past, Embrace the Future! This retrospective is the best way to respect Christopher Nolan's masterpiece trilogy of Batman films, as it highlights the most important aspects (story and moral-wise) of each film. +Thomas Davidson you have done a tremendous job!
I absolutely love this Epic Retrospective of The Dark Knight trilogy. Very powerful and cool editing on the video and music. You just made me fall back in love all over again with the trilogy. It's my favorite cinematic trilogy thus far. :)
I saw a video like this 3 years ago (promo for the TDKR) using compilations from Begins and TDK. But this one really sets the completion to an epic trilogy. I enjoyed every second of this 10 minutes, excellent work! Keep it up to this quality!
Happy Ten Year Anniversary Batman Begins, one of the greatest comic-book films of all time!!! Thank you Christopher Nolan, for not only making a damn good movie, but for showing us that it's not who we are underneath, but what we DO, that defines us!
Thomas Davidson NP, your video inspired me to do one for the Christopher Reeve Superman movies. The video is titled "Superman: The Christopher Reeve Retrospective" Please check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks!
Adeel of Steel I've never watched any of the superman films aside from the first one so bare that in mind when you read this. I noticed in the description that you skipped Superman III, is there a reason why that was done for this retrospective? You repeated the same scene twice throughout the video (0:23 & 9:03) which did appear out of place upon first viewing. I'm assuming either you didn't use 5.1 audio files to isolate the dialogue or the music from the film was unfortunately included with them at some points throughout the video and ultimately made it a little distracting to watch at times (the same occurred during my video too). I both liked and disliked the use of the Man of Steel soundtrack with your video as it did help deliver fast paced transitions however I feel that a bit more use of the original soundtrack would of been appropriate (but I understand it's not as simple to just say 'you should of done this' or 'you should of done that' in regards to making decisions in editing without compromising the overall quality). The little nod, so to speak, from Christopher Reeve's ending to Henry Cavill's entrance into the Superman franchise was a nice touch. Hope it helps you!
Gian DE FEO A few people have mentioned the transitions being odd but they don't really go into details about what exactly they mean. Can you explain a bit more so I know for next time I make a video similar to this?
I liked it very very much. So inspiring. :D So Epic. :) Is anytime coming (when you have the time to) an extended version of this? I mean, i read your comments below on why you do this 10 minutes long, but maybe a little longer including some scenes that you dropped when doing this one, would be great. :)
7Riot Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Years down the line I might make an updated one if I can figure out how to blend it well but I'm fine with this version, I'm currently in the planning stages of my next video which will take a while to complete
Congratulations on the great work Thomas! And about TDKR, I like the film a lot up to when batman gets his spine broken, and the very end after the explosion, but everything in between is very weak...TDK is a masterpiece....IMO...
Plot twist: this trilogy is representing the fall of America. Batman represents the pro status quo force (saving Gotham = saving America). The chaos and discord is represented by the Joker. Bane represents the revolutionary forces that aims to spread populism and overthrow the system. It’s all happening in real time and these movies make total sense when you look at it through the lens of current and recent events in America.
Really enjoyed the retrospective. Editing is great. If I can ask, how are you able to isolate the dialogue? I am currently struggling with that, as I am trying to make my own video. Thanks in advance.
Rico Albarracin Hi Rico, I'll tell you how I do it a few simple steps: 1) Rip the DVD/Blu-ray of the movie/TV show to the computer using the software called 'MakeMKV' 2) Convert the ripped file into an MP4 container which will also transfer the 5.1 audio I need by using the software called 'VidCoder' 3)Import the MP4 file into the video editing software i.e. Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas etc. and it will automatically include 1 video track as well as around 5-7 audio tracks on the timeline. One of these audio tracks will be dedicated solely to dialogue (sometimes SFX and music may be featured on it too) which I use in my videos 4) Just unbind that track from the rest of the audio tracks (video too if appropriate) so you can do as you please with it Hope it helps!
+Thomas Davidson thanks man. For some reason, I never got a notification to the reply. I guess I need a Blu-ray/DVD ripper. I'll be uploading my version soon.
Nice edit, fun retrospective but personally reminded me how disappointed I was with Rises. Nolan dropped the ball on that one. Still Begins and Dark Knight are great.
Endgame was epic and mostly everything I wanted from the experience of watching it but the dark knight is as epic as it can get,
Dark knight trilogy fans : we never said thank you
Christopher nolan : and youl never harve too
Years passed yet Ra's always said it right about a legend.
just cant get enough with this trilogy .. still watch them at least 2-3 times for year.. truly a masterpiece in every way
Mind blown from 8:50 to 9:08!!!
Talia did exactly as her dad Ra's said to do to those who stand in the League of Shadows' way - stab them in the back!!!
I can't believe I never connected these dots!!

+Michael Otis Glad you enjoyed it and learnt something new!

Perfect Tribute, Man.

This is an epic cut. I really enjoyed watching. Thanks!

BEST trilogy ever
Thank you so much for this epic retrospective...I simply adore the dark knight trilogy!!

Brilliantly put together.
Only thing I missed from it was the last scene of Begins. "I never said thank you"
Chris Cooper With it being a 10 minute challenge, there were a lot of ideas I had to drop for this video and the use of that line was one of them. Thanks!
Thomas Davidson a restrospective is always to be no longer than 10 minutes?

hahaha same
Ha, well thanks man
The way I see BvS Batman is that he's what he would become if he crossed the line and how he attempts to go back over the line.
It's the 10th anniversary of the #BatmanBegins & this #DarkKnightTrilogy montage is amazing!
Mark Ricks Thanks!
Thomas Davidson My absolute pleasure! I've shared this like 10x, because Batman.
This was absolutely amazing. The way you transitioned all the movies seamlessly together is stunning

7:21-8:20 BEST PART!
Commander N. Patel Glad you liked that particular moment
Amazing editing!
Sherhan Mahmud Thank you
Can you do one for 4 if the Metal Gear Solid games? That would be really epic. Just MGS 1-4
Sherhan Mahmud I've never played any Metal Gear game before so I wouldn't be the best person to edit together a video for the series, sorry!
Sherhan Mahmud it's kinda funny, the editing is very good, except when transitioning between films... a weird lack of consistency there...
Gian DE FEO A few people have mentioned the transitions being odd but they don't really go into details about what exactly they mean. Can you explain a bit more so I know for next time I make a video similar to this?
I liked it very very much.

When I see movie cuts like this one the only question I have is how do you avoid rights claims from youtube?
***** I'm not sure, RUclips detection hasn't picked up on it
Hey that's pretty good
Thanks!

Nice edit, fun retrospective but personally reminded me how disappointed I was with Rises. Nolan dropped the ball on that one. Still Begins and Dark Knight are great.
Pat H I loved it personally but I understand that people's expectations were high after TDK and felt it didn't deliver
The Dark Knight Rises is still an amazing film, I don't necessarily get the hate for it.
Amazing! You're going to get a lot of views thanks to Nerdist posting this, as well! So. Good.
stinner2000 Thanks, I didn't even realise they made an article about it until you posted this comment!
