    ___________________________________
    Bilal spoke openly to VladTV about his second album, Love for Sale, being stolen after he was finished recording everything, and having to start over. Bilal explained that it was a difficult time for him, and at one point he considered leaving the music industry, however, after seeing love from the fans for the bootlegged tracks, he was inspired to make more music.
    During the conversation, Bilal spoke about working with J Dilla on songs before he passed, and why he thinks music in America is no longer about the art form. To hear more, hit the above clip.

    No one talks about this but the digital age really fucked up some of our best artist. You can tell this man was hurt about the album bootlegging.

      Corey Taylor the world is forever changing .. if artist keep on putting stuff out , fans still going to purchase merch and show up for the concerts even if the record is leaked .. that actually makes it better for the fans who can’t wait to purchase / stream the official version when it comes out

    • @25lighters91
      @25lighters91 6 лет назад +1

      Jame5 on the backhand it subtracts real artistry and a genuine experience like albums use to do. It's all superficial gain truthfully from who actually makes good music to who looks the most outrageous

    • @PancakeDiaries
      @PancakeDiaries 6 лет назад +4

      It really did... It doesn't get talked about, because the fans don't see the pain in it. Artists speak on it all of the time

      he literally lived thru the transition of analog cd to digital.. damn.. that must have been fucked.. i lived thru it too.. i make music, i always wanted to make my own cd.. but i did it late.. so now i give it away to friends in soundcloud and mediafire.. in alot of ways? its cool for independent artists.. to be able to share our music without paying to burn cds.. and have a whole band.. we can produce our own music now independently.. with ableton live.. so i love this era.. but it must have been fucked back in the late 90s early 2000s when it barely went down.. all that kazaa and napster era was probably fucked for alot of people who were expecting to sell albums..

    Cultural Awareness moment: The "Another Dr Dre Production" stamp was paying homage to Soul Train and the gentleman who did the announcing for the show..the late great Mr Sid Mccoy. At the end of the show he would say "This is a Don Cornelius Production". Dre actually had Sid Mccoy himself do the Dr Dre vocal stamp at the end of a couple of other tracks. He did it about two or three times.

      anthony plowden facts tho... That label was put on artists too fast imo. Their names were attached to the genre and once the genre faded, those artists were pushed to the back burner. Soul is soul...neo soul was just our generations spin on it.

    Po' thang. I have a theory regarding bootlegging. I feel like the record labels secretly do that in order to sabotage artists. This will make the artist get fed up and leave. A similar thing curiously happened to Mya. Hell, you get tired. You done put in hella work for the shit to curiously end up leaking. Instead of being honest and just letting the artist go, they'd rather go around the mulberry bush. It's just bad for business. It's a shame too because this brotha can sing. Out of all those 2000's brothas, he was one of the best. Bilal, Anthony Hamilton, Glenn Lewis, Miss Jaheim were primo, vocally. Po' Bilal.

      Jame5 it's deeper than that... A bootleg for a gold artist like Bilal at a time like that was homicidal. People aren't gonna pay for what they are getting for free, and that hurt artists who needed to show that their numbers matched the buzz. Careers were broken when the digital age came under full strength

      D Wise This wasn't a concept when that happened to him... The digital bootleg was still a new threat, Amber nobody saw the advantage that could be taken of it. To be honest, the drill and mumble rappers are the first to truly profit from it. They put out music for free and get paid strictly for the shows... And what they would've been getting paid if they were a chart topper. In the beginning, artists and labels were in too much of a frenzy tryna figure how to stop it, instead of tryna figure out how it could be manipulated in their favor.

    • @omi1975db

      Ilu Ha-Binah El I feel you
      But even Biggie said it himself on the rap documentary the show that the real money comes from doing shows
      I would've just looked at the bootleg man as pub
      And even Bilal started working with it even though he didn't understand it
      All he said was it grew a life of it's own
      Probably meaning he realized pub is pub the only one who loses out on bootlegs is really the record company not the artist
