I just read about your video in the newspaper and had to stop by to see it. I'm a third generation Ocalan myself and it was great to see the history of the town. Great work!
Great job on the history of Ocala. I have wonderful memories growing up there in the 1950's when we would cross 17th Street in our bare feet to feed oranges to the neighbor's cows. It's changed a lot now. The gentleman's farm across the street is now a Publix, and the house I grew up in is gone. But I can still ride through Ocala and tell my own kids what used to be here and what we used to do there. Thanks for the reminders.
Awesome job Grant! I, too, am a 5th generation Floridian. I was raised in Citrus county, and going to Ocala was like going to the big city for us. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks. I moved to Ocala from LaBelle when I was 3. That was 1945. I went to Centeral Elem. 1st thru 5th, then Oakcrest Elem. 6 & 7, 8th street middle for the 8th & 9th, then OHS on Ft. King for 10-12. Graduated 1960. I was baptised in FBC in the church that burned down. I live now in New Braunfels, Tx. Thanks for the memories. Gene Lanzl.
What a delightfully educational video! I'm too a multi-generational native and enjoyed growing up in Ocala. The photos of the storied restaurants took me back to the early 80s. Again, great job. You have a lot to be proud of.
Thanks for sharing this awesome video 🤗 my service with Uncle Sam brought me to Ocala which my wife and kids loved so much ☝🏽We are thankful to all of ya'll for the wonderful experience 🙏🏽🤗
Grant................Awesome job! My parents moved us to Ocala in 1973 and enjoyed the pictures. They gave me alot of grea memories, thank you for a blast into the past. Also it was very informative, learned things I didn't know - very interesting! Keep up the good work!

I grew up on East Broadway and went swimming at Silver Springs every Sunday. I could walk to library, Bittings Drug Store, Woolworth's, and the Marion Theater. I got in with 6 RC bottle caps for the Saturday matinees/ Loved the strawberry Waffles at the Plantation Pancake In, went often to the Brahma and 1890 House, Morrison's after church, and the Lobster House for grouper fingers.
Wonderful job cousin Grant!! Your Great grand dad would be so proud as would be your Greatgrandmother Edna Sims Green. Really enjoyed this. Bonnie Zane-Smith

It is nice to discover a passion at a young age. Work to develop your writing (story telling), videography, and editing every day. Then you will never work a day in your life because you will be doing what you love.
@dutch1565 Ocala is well known as the horse capital of the world, one of only five cities (four in the USA and one in France) permitted under Chamber of Commerce guidelines to use this title based on annual revenue produced by the horse industry.
@VodoFL ...You were born in Ocala?...I have an antique sugarcane mill that was made in Ocala, but have not been able to find the company that made it...do you remember ever seeing this company as you were growing up?..
You did a wonderful job on the history of Ocala, I am currently going to write a story about Ocala for a new news source in the area, called "The Pineapple Post", this paper will be offered for free and I would like to quote some of your information, if you do not mind. I grew up in Ocala from 1970 to 1999. Thanks again for the great presentation.

Too bad this kid with such a long, historical, Florida lineage sounds more like some Yankee transplant than a Floridian Southerner!
You skipped the rich racist history lil man
