I'm a big fan of this series. No one gives a crap what the haters think. Never have. I think the dialog between the guys is always entertaining. They've both great. That said, I agree with others that it would've been nice to have Dave Hollingworth over to do a demo.
They need to slap like NOW!! I wonder where these are made. I checked the range here in Australia and was surprised to see how reasonably priced they are.
The DH really cuts through and sound awesome. How much of that is the Bartolinis and how much is the Fender Rumble over the GK? I prefer the look of the Pro but it sounded more muddy/mushy with HB and thin when split down.
Very nice basses! They're about as close to the Warwick tone that I've heard! I would like to hear the 5 string bass with a preamp, but it sounds great for a passive bass!. The Hollingworth Signature sounds fantastic and would make a nice 5-string!
I started off wanting to see and hear Dave demoing his bass. But this session really tripped my trigger. I want a fan fret 5 string. My wife, unfortunately said, "How's it feel to want?" Actually, I want both...all three. However, you guys make me realize how much I have to practice! Thanks for saying how you are amping them. I couldn't find that in the description. I think amps are more important for bass tones than for guitars. I don't know what the comments are about. I like the combination of the grumpy young guy and the ADHD, off his meds old fellow. Nice balance.
Pretty sure Dave and Bea are more focused on Toska currently among other things. I guess chappers has to deal with Chapman guitar stuff but that's just a guess
I have 2 MLB1 FF basses here at the moment. Both have very poor fretwork, one is unuseable, because all tones on the first fret die immediately clanking (fret 2 way too high). For 1500€ that's a bad joke. And why did Chapman save on the Preamp, which is no more built in?????
i was soooo disappointed that the fan fret sig has a 35" scale on the long side, cuz it looks incredible but i've never played a 35" B that was satisfying, hell i'm such a scale length snob that i can't get on with E strings that are shorter than 36" its a real shame tho, id love to show some support to a UK brand and Dave has always been a huge influence and everything else about these i absolutely adore, same with the strandberg basses, amazing design ruined by a disappointing scale length :/
Nathan is the kind of guy that walks up and starts talking to you at the pub whilst you are trying to watch a club football match on the tele. He spews the most vile shit about your mum, but apologizes immediately after offending you. He knows everyone that frequents the pub on a first name basis and can tell you all of the juicy gossip around town. Due to the heavy alcohol consumption, he gives out too many handshakes and hugs to everyone at the bar. After X amount of beers, he smashes his pint glass over his head and laughs uncontrollably as the blood drips down his face. As crazy as Nathan is, you return to the same pub the next weekend and are greeted with a warm handshake and a hug that lasts a little too long. You are surprised that he remembers your name, and because he was such a spectacle the last time around, you definitely remember his! Also, he remembers your mum, because she is a total f***ing c**t!!! “Sorry, mate!” On a serious note, I love Nathan’s precise pocket. (Lee could learn to not let his youthful energy carry him ahead of the beat.) Nathan is just a grooving machine and you can tell that playing the bass puts him in a good headspace. Now, if he could just stop apologizing for being himself... 😂😂😂 (Or maybe, I am misinterpreting “British sensibilities”. 🤔)
Realistic Feedback: See that nonsense where you get the presenters to point at pickups mid-demo - how about you just put a strapline across the bottom left/right of the screen when the settings are demo'ed?
Not my choice for a grand. You boys sound awesome but you always do. Are you being paid to sell the boss's gear, who is also paying you? I was only acting under orders 🧐😬
Chapman takes a fender telecaster headstock and flips it upside down and calls it original. Now designs a Wal headstock for bass and reverses it and it's suppose to be original?... lol
As a guitarist, that opening jam made me want to be in a band with two bassists!
As a fellow guitarist, this video inspired me to go out and get a bass and now I'm obsessed with playing bass every day.
Damn if only these were still available.
The sound of these Chapman basses on this video is superb.
Any Chapman Standard Series Basses coming in the near future? 🙂
As an old man myself, I quite relate to the "grumpy" man on the left :) I think he's the funniest person Ive ever seen slap the bass.
Patrick McMichael except other than Guy Pratt.
I think the guy on the left is brilliant! Of course, both of you are 😁
Zyx yea and he’s a great guitarist.
Comes from a family of bassists.....
@@Nektopoulo Yeah, people might just have heard of his brother.... :-)

9:29 Smash it. Love it when Lee leans in for a knob twiddle. Highlight of the vids, keep it frosty chaps.
That MLB1 sure sounds nice. And looks nice. It's nice.
Quite unique sounds there, liking it.
I’m not a bass player, but I find your videos very entertaining
Nate, love the laid back jamming. Keep it up!
That intro Jam was beyond tasty
That top looks like the surface of a planet 🌎 from space
most planets are mate
I bought the fan fret version a month ago and it’s absolutely fabulous!!
Will Guitar Center carry these in the USA? I'd really like to try one. Thanks guys love what you do
Haha I just saw this a year later and I’m 13, broke, and go every week to play it😂
They need to slap like NOW!! I wonder where these are made. I checked the range here in Australia and was surprised to see how reasonably priced they are.
Amazing tones
Never knew Jim Davidson could play funky bass 😎✌️
X E ✌️
I have one of the original Chapman MLB-1 basses and I love it. If I was in the market for a new one, I'd definitely take a good look at these.
The DH really cuts through and sound awesome. How much of that is the Bartolinis and how much is the Fender Rumble over the GK? I prefer the look of the Pro but it sounded more muddy/mushy with HB and thin when split down.
Nice to see Nath drop into a Blockhead'esque riff at the end! ;-)
My dream bass
Mr Lee - kudos on the Zep tats.
(not noticed them before - verry nice, wish I'd thought of that)
I’ve looked everywhere for the specs on the string spacing for these guitars, is someone able to help me out ?
Aswell as some cosmetic similarities they also sound like a Warwick.
Definite tip o’ the hat to the Thumb Bass
Sucks that these are so hard to find now. I really want one
Damn dat bass is insane
I love the look of the 4-string...except I can't unsee the crooked bridge pickup. @7:59 I just can't.
You guys are the best, always love your playing and reviews. And I'm not even a bass player
Reminds me of that time I went to a banjo convention...
They look a bit Warwick Streamerish. Great sounding basses. Awesome job guys.

The split almost sounded a bit Rick like, really cool
999 for that sig bass?? What a steal! I literally clicked just to see how expensive it would be! God damn chappers nice job.
Im no bass player but i want one!!!!!
The blue music man in the background is beautiful.
Droptuned 83 yeah absolutely
Nice, freaking fan fret is almost impossible to find right now!
I wonder how many know that Nathan is the guitarist in Level 42
And the bass player in the Prog band Frost*
I seriously dislike the shape of that headstock, but other than that, awesome basses!
Daves bass is so sexy! Dave.
Shame they discontinued this amazing models
The angry old guy is the personification of beginning stages of heart attack
Wait is Dorje still even a thing? They have been "working on a album" for like years now...
Pretty sure Dave and Bea are more focused on Toska currently among other things. I guess chappers has to deal with Chapman guitar stuff but that's just a guess
Andertons posts a video about basses. I see you've been noticing my scouring your website for a new bass :D Too bad these don't have emgs
Here is my think for you guys.
There's a duet that doesn't exist yet, so may we get a vid with skinny Lee and Captain Lee ?
I wants one
I want two
Oh, a 5 string bass, possible tempting. Dave got an Soundgear a few years ago, that four string looks like it look a lot of ergonomics from it.
Dave.
Awsome
where's dave
Glorified Peavey grind bass

Nathan's faux sun burnt complexion isn't caused by the sun...

Must give them a bash, the mk1’s were like playing an anvil, sooooo heavy

Thomas McAteer you must be fun at parties.
Bert and Ernie.
LOL! 😂😂😂

wow they really got a warwick vibe to them.
Sure.. Demo a Dave signature, and don't have Dave with you
Walnut... "it does look very sideboardy" 🤓
"flat bass society"
don't change, Nathan, don't change
He did use a warwick bass for years before he started helping Rob make the original ML B
Years?
Dave goes through basses like I go through pizzas - he's notoriously hard hitting...literally.
(I don't hit pizzas)
pd4165 can confirm 😂
@@pd4165 he has owned one probably still does and I know he beats his basses if a bass can survive him it can survive anything
He is using a pick with a bass not today bucko

Seriously overhyped by two overstimulated fans of Colombia.
the shape is just off
Yeah now give us the new charvel guitars😂😂
These basses both sound terrible
WHATTTT ??? hehehe
Hmmm, buzzy. Nice playing though.
