Available Now: smarturl.it/DeepPurpleMont06dvd
Deep Purple need no introduction as one of the all-time great British rock bands. Their association with Montreux goes back to the early seventies when their attempt to record their album "Machine Head" at the Montreux Casino was thwarted when it promptly burnt down, forcing them to make the album in the rooms and corridors of the Grand Hotel instead. The story was of course immortalised in their classic song "Smoke On The Water" which is the climax of this 1996 concert from the Montreux festival.

Stop the madness, stop the war and listen to Deep Purple ☮️ Deep Purple Forever ☮️
One of the coolest guitar riffs in human history ☮️
Glover just mesmerises me. No other bassist except "The Ox" has that power.
JE, John Paul Jones, etc.: Acoustic Cornerstones!
RIP Jon Lord, the truest genius ☮️
Music like that never comes again,
Is it just me or does anybody else feel that Roger Glover doesn't get the credit he deserves? One of the most underrated and influential Bass Players in Rock
DV DODDS just thought the same thing
I thought the same, he is a great bass guitarist...
As an old bassist myself, Glover has always been one of my heroes. I copied quite a few of his licks!
He and Geezer Butler were the main reasons I started playing bass.
Yet I share your opinion: He is definetely very underrated, also as a producer.
Very much so. Amazing player.
Will never forget , this was my very first song of Deep Purple , then i felt in love with them .
The same for me.
One of the first rock songs i heard in my life, and never was more the same..
Highway Star for me.
1984 MUSIC WAS IN MONO STEREOOO!MARAVILLOSO!18 YEARS OLD!
2024?
Just looking at the comments here, & I thought to myself that there are MANY MANY bands that have had "In-band feuds" that broke up the original lineup. Still, alot of those bands continued to go on with a new member, & I'm glad they did. The same goes for Deep Purple, I saw them once with Ritchie, & twice without. I really enjoyed each of those concets & all the songs they played. I love this song & it sounds Gr8 to me. That's all that really matters. Besides, Ritchie has done some Gr8 stuff since he left, so.... I don't see this as a bad thing. It happens a lot in the world of R'n'R - either someone leaves, OR dies too early, & a replacement is found, & they continue. I'm glad that DP did, 4Sure!! Of couse the new member gets compared to the old one, & some peope just DON'T LIKE IT. But I do, & as long as the new person isn't BAD, just a different kind of style, I have no problem with them & are willing to give them a chance. I think this song is GR8 with/without Blackmore. The 3 shows I've seen were ALL Fantastic to experience!! I also have to imagine that it may NOT have sounded as good if Ritchie WAS there, but was feeling upset about NOT having left, & not enjoying his time on stage with the band anymore - esp if they were constantly not getting along in a personal way backstage. Who knows? I'm just glad they DID continue to play without him. I know there are people who feel the opposite way that I do, & we ALL have different faves, as we are all different people. I'll end by saying Cheers, & LONG LIVE ROCK'N'ROLL!!
I think your comments are really thoughtful and respectful - I agree
LOVE THIS SONG CLASSIC
You can't deny that is a awesome voice.
Correct, but you should hear what his bandmates from Gillan really, really think of him.

Definitely the up tempo version! I like it!
Saw them live on stage back in '85 in St Louis, Mo during their Perfect Strangers tour. Blackmoore is definitely a guitar god ....
Caught them on that Tour at the Cow Palace Arena in January. Blackmore was god that night. Also caught them back in '98 at the Warfield Theatre,San Francisco. The band was on fire that night, and Morse melted the place to the ground!
That bass!

Einer der besten hardrocksongs aller Zeiten...
Genau
Hell Yes ! Thank you :)
Saw DP 4 times. Never a bad show and they had the best backup bands like SAVOY Brown, ELO, Nazareth then Lynryd Skynryd and Nugent.
I saw them twice. They were LOUD!
vu a Grenoble concert super ambiance super
Ian Gillan : a great rock singer !
Anne van Lith the best
Agreed. He doesn’t have the growl like on the album, but he knows how to control his voice during a 2 hour concert!
What about Robin McAuley?

@@GregoryBoyko About 20 years ago, I played in a band of parties and ballroom dances, where the singer held 4 hours singing all styles of music ... of course throughout the show there were some instrumental songs, such as tangos and waltzes!
Coverdale was better...
this is where Purple meets the Beatles and Led Zep... only Better !

R.I.P Great Master :,(
Abraço do Brasil. ✨☀️🫂 🇧🇷
BRASIL on the road.........go ahead
esto ya esta en otro level para mi
Better than Smoke on the water
Ah, no, but close.
I agree 100%!! Also, I've heard "Smoke on the Water" on the radio at least 10x as much as this song, but that doesn't mean that it's better!! I DON'T think "SOTW" is their best song by a wide margin, & this IS a much better song. In the last 40ish yrs that I've been listening to Deep Purple, this was the 1st song I REALLY liked, & still is today. I feel like if I hear "SOTW" 2-3x/yr, that's good enough for me. Their most FAMOUS song doesn't = Their BEST song. Peace!!
Я бы не был столь категоричным, хотя композиция, безусловно сверх великолепная.
saw them live in1973 when I was in gemany
Watching the dvd Malcolm X with Denzel Washington. Powerful 🎥. I first heard this song 🎵 in 1973 I was 15😂

I miss Blackmore as a lead guitarist
Apik banget dab
What a wonderful Morse...
At that time Gillan’s voice was still quite good
❤❤❤
Damn. Now I have to possibly put my idol Roger Daltrey 2nd to Ian Gillan. Oh what a delima! Lol
Yep 2 Powerful voices 4Sure!!
Steve Morse is a great guitarist .
where are Blackmore and May
Yes he us but I never thought he was the perfect replacement for Ritchie
@@rickleblanc8900I don't think there IS/WAS a perfect replacement for Ritchie, but he LEFT, & I'm glad they continued as a band. Morse does do a fantastic job here, & I love this song SO much, it still sounds FANTASTIC!! Also, Ritchie has done some amazing stuff since he left. DP was just not meant to go on to the end with their original lineup - but not many bands DO, so like I said, I'm happy that they continued on without him. I Love the music (esp live) & that's all I really NEED!! Either way - Peace - & keep on Rockin'!!
Is that the same Gillian from Gillians Island?
Самый узнаваемый тембр
Голос Гилана не повторим.
Great musicians, great song.
back in de days where Gillan had more hair and heat!

El mejor tiempo de los grupos de rock
My woman from Tokyo she makes it hurt to pee
NOW
Вроде то же,но Ричи не хватает...
Да куда там!😢
no blackmore
good
Good and bad. Bad: miss his genius good: don’t miss his ego and causing strife within the band
@@4747roboBEST comment/reply on here!! You hit the nail right on the head!! Thank YOU!!
No Blackmore= No Deep Purple....
Morse isn't heavy enough for this job
FFS, 1996 , even then PC raised its ugly head, Sing on Ian
Не то
I wonder who the lead singer is. He is good looking.
Ian Gillan... But Remember... This video is almost 20 years old!
