Ha! That put in across the RR tracks always gets me goin. I live right down the road where you put in. Love that stretch of river, it’s gotten better over the last 10 years. Really nice video quality Amigo ….
Thanks! I wasn’t suppose to show that part - our guide was worried about potential blow back. Train zoomed by moment after! Lol. Love the Clark Fork - so good!
There is always something exciting about setting out with a guide. Even on rivers I know really well, I always look forward to a day being pampered by a guide. That section of the CF seems so small! I always think of it as a huge river. Great vid as always Dan.
I've been so eager to get get back out to Montana. Never had a chance to fish there though. It's overwhelming the amount of options for great fishing there. Great video!
It is amazing country for sure! I would recommend giving the Kingfisher Fly Shop a call in Missoula - that is who I went through when I booked my trip. Cheers!
It always perplexes me when crossing paths with other fly guys, how wearing waders is part of the dress code, rather than always necessary. Not so much on your trip Dan......well, except when watching Dan and other client friend bust through tall underbrush when hand portaging a huge raft from steep, roadway, a couple hundred feet to rivers edge. That is a hole in waders waiting to happen as much as carrying a fly rod down a brushy trail tip first is a hazard to breakage. Waders are right up there in cost with name brand fly rods. There is a fly only, spring creek in WA where entering into the water is prohibited, yet there you will see 90% of the fly guys wearing waders! So, strange to see. Overall good filming, good trip Dan.
I recently upgraded to the Simms G4 - so far so good. That spring creek in WA - I know that place! The one time I decided to wear boots because you can't go into the water...I fell ass deep into a muddy wet hole well beyond the edge...got soaked! Waders from now on...Lol
@@FlyFishDan Okay, muddy butt, no matter how it happens is not a pleasant thing to show off in public....lol. Personally, I just don't find waders very comfortable. Does gortex breath? Sure. But breathability does not keep up with body sweat on a hot day, when hiking a steep trail......not sir! An observation..........the guide in your boat was not in waders.....makes a person ponder........why.........Hmmmm
@@waynehughes8616 No burrs, thistles and ticks with waders on. Theres also studies showing that rattle snake bites are in effective something like 85 percent of the time if your wearing pants. Waders make it so you can monster truck though anything!
From my perspective, there were a few fish that were tossed back unceremoniously but nothing worse than when they jump out of the water themselves. He wet his hands each time, turned the fish upside down during the unhooking to reduce stress and quickly back into the water. Any fish that were large enough for pictures, were only out of the net/water for a few moments. Hopefully you enjoyed the video adventure all-in-all, cheers!
Fished with the Missoula River Lodge they have the best service, guides are the best.
Nice! I am sure they appreciate the shout-out and the business. Cheers!

Where is the stretch of Clarks Fork that has the big pike????
Hello Roger - down near Superior are the big pike holes. Lots of slow back eddies in that area. Good luck!
Thank you sooo much , I go up that way for church camp once a year, and I would like to make the most of the opportunities
What section of the Clark Fork did you float here?
It’s was the stretch down from Rock Creek - awesome section with a few miles off I-90
Pretty frustrating seeing a guide handle fish with dry hands
I'm surprised that a pro guide would handle the fish so poorly

Agreed, I was shocked.
