This one is freaking wonderful. I finished the game a month ago, and felt just like you. It is my favorite story-telling-focused game. Edit: I guess you saw the bitter ending... it's clear that they made one for fan service and the other was the one that they really focused on. Or did you see both?
On my first playthrought I chose bitter ending and was completely devastated because of it. Next day after my mental breakdown I replayed last chapter to see another ending and it got me back in shape.
Utamaru oh, I see. I got the egotistical ending first and thought "eh, I like it". Then I loaded the very last checkpoint, chose the other one and... well. In Chapters 3/4, with that one Chloe, and how it ends, I thought "they are not going to do anything better and more emotive than this". They did. It was way more emotive. I just loved it.
