Aerial tour of Lake Red Rock, the Red Rock Dam, and Des Moines River in a Luscombe 8A taildragger airplane. In today's world, it's hard to take a vacation. So let me introduce you to a little part of Iowa. We'll explore Iowa's largest man-made Lake, Lake Red Rock, and travel down the Des Moines River Valley for awhile while observing some of Iowa's landmarks. All of this courtesy of a 1945 Luscombe 8A vintage airplane. Aviators and their flying machines! I hope you enjoy this virtual tour of a part of Iowa from the air!

Our farm is just a mile south west of Pleasantville and my grandma lived there, so I got to visit a lot growing up in Des Moines, this year we went hunting and decided to go up to the river bottom/valley above the lake, taking the road north from Pleasantville and then going over to swan, we walked so far pushing Deer towards our guys set up that by the time we were done I felt like I had run another xc race, I love this area of our state man and it’s cool to recognize where I have literally walked and been around from the air, also walk-in through the woods just south east of swan in public land I found really old foundations of buildings that must have been there before the lake, old trees had grown up the middle of the building

I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Have been a southern Iowan all my life and owned a Cessna 150 over 30 years ago. Very familiar with that area. The lake Redrock hydro electric plant install should be nearly complete after the past few years of construction.

Was born and raised in southern Iowa. Great memories. OXV is where I started my flying lessons, had my first solo (with shirttail cut), etc. Not a better place to be. Still a lot of good folks there!
