Nice, and thanks for the mention. I've shot video of that house but I don't think I ever posted it. The easiest ruins to find are right along the 4.25-mile hard surface multipurpose trail that loops around that section of the park. If you were parked where I think you were, you walk to the multipurpose trail (hard surface) and take a right. There's a nice set of ruins are about 1/4 to 1/2 mile down the road. But there are several more around on the dirt trails. Some of the ruins are on the property of the arboretum.
Hi, wow that house would have been gorgeous back in the day. I love seeing old houses built of stone they seem to have so much more character. Thanks for sharing the house and the beautiful woodland. x
Looking at that fantastic ruin of the large home, I can almost hear the echoes of voices from the past. It looks decrepit to us, but once upon a time someone's family lived their lives there. Amazing to see it and be able to visualize history.
Finally, you have hiked a place that I have been many times, as I'm only 6 miles away. It is a great place for hike. Plus camping at Organized Group Tenting Site with the Scout Troop.
Nice warm video WW. Those few warmer days were Lovely. I have been to this park years ago and there are some other great ruins. What trail I can't remember. I was with a good friend who lived near there and knew the park well and my interest in old buildings and ruins. A good place to return to. Thanks Much and less than a few week until spring. Can't believe they say daylight savings to the 10th of this month. More light to explore. DaveyJO
60 degrees in Pennsylvania in February? Wow, I'm in Michigan and it is March 8th and we haven't seen 60 degree temperatures since Sept or Oct. It might get to the high 30s today and it is sunny and it feels sooo good. Great video. Love the picture of the deer.
Took a girlfriend of mine on a date to that ruin in 1983. We had hoagies from Phil and Jim's in Brookhaven. Also attacked that house in a Army ROTC field problem in 1982. It was sheltering a sniper.
Oh my gosh you drove right through home for me! We are from West Chester, Chester County, right over the line! That was my favorite place before we moved to York!!’
Beautiful houses, they would've looked so grand. Glad to see that they're kind of being looked after. At 10:05 over your shoulder it looks like some of the original shutters are still intact.
TWW, you're awesome as usual! I know there are a couple smaller spring-house like ruins on one of the upper trails that we ran into when we parked near Sycamore Mills. I don't have video of those but have pictures. But looking at the map, it may have been the white blazed trail near the Tyler Arboretum side. Don't quote me on that...it's been a few years since I've been that way.
Ridley is a cool place. If You go back, try to schedule when The Colonial Plantation does their Revolutionary War or Colonial Life reenactment events. I think for now everyting by way of events is shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
I grew up not far from the park and fished Ridley Creek as a kid. Here is a 1993 UPenn thesis about the park's history and original settlers that you might find interesting: repository.upenn.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1444&context=hp_theses
I am blaming you for getting me started on chocolate peanut butter, specifically Peanut Butter and Co. with dark chocolate. It is addictive in its smoothness and taste and is low in carbs and sugars. I also purchased at the same time, cinnamon infused peanut butter. On rye bread, not so much and I'll pass on the boxes of raisins (I prefer golden). Enjoy your work although I don't share your penchant for walking on hikes through woodsy areas. I am okay going for a walk on a treadmill where I can gauge how long and how many calories or an occasional walk around the local park. Keep up the good work and good luck.
I hate with a passion vandals that destroy places with their graffiti. Graffiti is vandalism at its worst and people who use it are the lowest scumbags you can meet
Oh I love this old house as well. I didn't want you to leave either.
Great birding spot

Lote of peoples past lives and memories in those homes . Citizens of this country that were lote tougher than most these days and times.

One of your best. Thank you very much 👍

Rather a large structure to be hand stacking rocks...very cool. Nice wood work on the front doors...
Nice big home! Would have loved to see these when they had been first built!
Awesome houses...farm equipment...barn and all ruins! Love this.
Wow that house was beautiful!!! I agree with you about wanting to renovate. It would be be an amazing place to live🤗
I lived down there till 2004. I have been all over the park it is a big park.
Glad you captured a photo of that cool old farm equipment...
Very Cool.! I grew in that area. I had fun at that park. Too bad the walls can't talk.
I love that house. It was so beautiful. Hope you return to this location and find more.
I love it when you ramble, it's cute.
Really cool ruins, love seeing those field stone structures. Thanks!

I am planning a return trip, I've recieved several other tips as well.
Thanks
Great site
great hike
I lived in one of these homes for many years...
That is a rusted old sickle bar mower for hays and clover, etc. Likely pulled by horses.
When I was younger I could have restored that building. @ 12:50 that's a horse drawn mower.
12:52 looks like an early john deere mower 5' bar. Should have markings stamped on gear box.
12:50 old horse drawn hay sickle.
I know where all the ruins are, be glad to show you around next time you want to visit!
awesome
Nice beech forest

Yeah i doubt they have done any restoration to try to keep it looking like it use to
That house was electrified at one time knob and tube
Lived in an old house with knob and tube
Ready to move it. Lol. Cheap fixer upper. :)
Nice thumbnail!
I've seen two 1700's stone houses rebuilt with original stone walls.

It only needs some wallpaper and then move in. :)

There are some homes the state rents and the people renting have to do keep it fixed up.

A lot of deer because they don't hunt in the state park
They do. Every year they have bow hunting (like right now). Also i think the park is closed for a day or 2 each year for hunting with guns.

I hate it too, but most likely it's teenagers doing it. Young and dumb.
