Please note: the game used in this video is a prototype, so game pieces and rules are subject to change in the final version. In the final rules, buildings that have coins with VP values printed on the player boards are scored at the end of each round in addition to the end of game scoring.

Great play-thru! A quick rules note for those watching as Becca and crew were working with an earlier draft rulebook. The Civic buildings that gain for adjacent (orthogonal) Population or Commerce gain VP during scoring based on the values of the buildings that apply. For example Ivan would have received 3 points for his Market in round 1 instead of 2
I’d like to note in final scoring Becca mixed up her and Ivan’s pieces when it came to VP’s Becca is Green, Ivan is Purple. Ivan should’ve scored 4 more points than he did, and Becca Should’ve scored 4 less. Didn’t matter in the end, but it’s definitely worth noting.
Glad I'm not the only one that thought that, I just assumed I wasnt paying attention. Lol

Thank you for giving the quick rundown for those of us who don't watch the "how to play". The how to plays generally spend a lot of time talking about how to set up the board and I am never gonna play the game. I am just here to watch you play it. So I appreciate when you explain it to us. Thank you.
Gotta say, this game plays a lot simpler than I thought I would have. And I've always been a fan of Ivan's hair
Was getting fed up with playthroughs of this game, but thank you Becca, this was the best one I have watched
This game looks deceptively simple & a lot of fun to play.
It just hurts my soul a little bit as a History major when they're talking about Romulus as a King and then the Senate. The time of Kings was so terrible for the Romans that during both the Senate period and Imperial period the worst thing you could call someone politically was King.
With that said minor gripe, the game looks really fun!

Exactly what I was thinking. Unlike you I haven’t yet graduated high school, but I’m a straight-A history and geography studies student, and I’ve never got anything below. I look to the past as others grasp their futures.. minor inconveniences and issues in games like this ever-so-slightly damage my perception of them haha
Agreed, this game is beautiful, but I get a major sense that the city is in the early/mid Empire Period and Caesar/Emperor should be the figure, not Romulus. I try to not cringe too hard when I hear Senate and King used together when the Emperors would fit so much better.

Wow Ivan could play a really good James Spader. Every time he talks he sounds like him so much. They should get him to play his younger self in the black list. =D
This feels like a slightly more complicated Chinatown. Kind of wish the board didn't force you to have the fifth player column and row in the base game however especially since those are only usable in an expansion you have to pay for.
Yeah. That's my biggest hangup. It's like day one DLC. :/
For the price of the game, there might have been a better way to set the board up to be expandable.
The stretch goal that has been achieved has added a second side to the board for 2-3 players.

An insula (plural: insulae) was an apartment building.
(BTW, orthogonal, NOT orthAgonal.)
(BTW, income for buildings you have built is printed on your player board. Easier than trying to find and count your buildings on the board each time you take income.)

Third round tallying up, did the players get switched? :S I saw becca count her population points with purples, the green for ivan.

She did win with a lot, probably doesn't matter, but still 🤔
She did mix up which token she moved. It would have given her four less points, and Ivan four more. I highly doubt that she did it on purpose, especially with a camera fixed directly on it. In order to cheat it would have to be a conscious decision. She would have still won easily.
Yeah, I've done that before, sometimes you get so used to playing a certain color, it's easy to forget and grab the wrong color. I seriously doubt it was intentional.

Ivan's first play did not seem... useful. Isn't that the building that scores points for adjacent money generators? It probably would have been better to place an income-generating building, since he generated income his very next turn!
I've only seen play-thrus of this game, and it's pretty enticing to me!
I know it doesn't matter but every time I watch game the game it seems that Becca cheats. For as competitive as she is she really should rein that in for the legitimacy of the game.

@@Teladian2 I really like SJW people with there big words and they think they are better then everybody... But you know what... If she don't like people saying she is beautiful and this is why I prefer her from and other person... Why did she make effort in getting beautiful, it make no sens to care about your appearance if it mean nothing. By the way, getting teeth white like her is not natural, red hair like this not fully natural... So I'm pretty sure she prefer to be call beautiful then just a rip-off.
