    Thanks for watching "How To Stop Puppy From Biting Me - Curb This Behavior". Which toy do you use to redirect your puppy to when they are biting at you?

      with my older gsd (1 year old) I used to give him a frozen Kong or Teething rings and sometimes actual frozen baby chew toys.

    I just adopted a 6wk old Catahoula/Lab mix and she has my arms & hands looking like mince meat! Lol. She will be 8 wks old Monday(3/29/21) so I'm gonna work with her a little more. Smartest little pup too. Only 2 accidents in the house and those were on the puppy pads. No crate. I'm home all day everyday...I got lucky with this girl for sure, just like her older sister.....Angels!! Thanks for your videos!

      This sounds about right for the breed mix you have. So sorry you're experiencing all this biting. The biting is totally normal and with time and training you'll start to see big improvements.

    My 10 week old King Charles Cavalier- Bichon mix is a true nipper! Ankle biting was the worst and a couple times I yelped loudly not meaning too but it sure startled my little guy and he sat & looked up at me as if to say - are you ok? lol
    the best toy to deter him from feet is a leather / suede bear with ropes for the arms & legs. He can’t resist it & he’s starting to get that we really rather bite his bear than our heels, toes and slippers!

    What is your opinion of using the barx buddy, for correcting or training with for a puppy or grown dog?
    Is it harmful to the puppy or is it helpful?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  3 года назад +3

      We do not recommend using aversive techniques to stop unwanted behaviors. While these things may serve as a quick fix, they affect the welfare of the animal and lead to some serious behavioral issues in the long run.

    I have a 2 1/2 month old golden retriever, and he’s starting to pay attention more to his toys other than human ankles/feet but do you know what age they stop teething and biting?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  3 года назад +1

      Puppy biting starts to wind down after they are through with the teething stage, around 6 months, or older.

    My 7 month old will bite and draw blood if you try to remove something from his mouth that he has picked up outside that is dangerous for him to have. None of my other dogs ever did this. He will actually lunge at you and continue to bite. He’s a miniature poodle. I can’t keep everything cleaned up in the yard when you live in the country

      It sounds like your puppy needs to develop stronger impulse control. In my course, 30 Days to Puppy Perfection, I teach impulse control games to help puppies learn how to think before acting on their natural impulses. Here is the link to the course: howtotrainadreamdog.com/puppy-perfection-course/

    My puppy does bite but it seems more a teething issue as she only does it (which is still multiple times a day) around the time she wants to go out, which as on another video is taking some time, basically she gets full of energy and runs about, I take her outside nothing happens, can wait 15-20 minutes still nothing, she comes back in and runs for a minute or two and then does her business then calms down the only time she changes this is when she starts barking and hiding behind furniture.
    She does sometimes bite my heel or even toes at bedtime (when SHE wants to go to sleep)
    I can tell when shes just playing as when she does nip its more gentle, time will tell if its permanent but I spent 30 minutes today at first holding her back from nipping, saying "calm down" and when she was calm give her a treat and rub her head and paws, eventually she reacted to this and if I say that when shes not wanting to go out she instantly calms.

    If u get a puppy at 8weeks but dont know anyone with a dog, how do u keep ur puppy socialized?? Ive seen ur vids btw......

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  3 года назад +1

      Remember socialization isn't always about interactions with other dogs. We want to expose our pup to the world around them in a positive way. This means you may just take car rides or pup sits in a shopping cart in a store that allows dogs (hardware store etc. we avoid pet stores during this intro time)

    • @ertfgghhhh
      @ertfgghhhh 3 года назад

      @@HowToTrainADreamDog i will def take him to the hardware store but ive NEVER seen dogs at hardware stores. I saw that on ur 2 vids about socialization. If anyone can think of places besides the dog park,walmart, and petsmart that u see dogs, let me know. I do live in an apt complex so i will hold the puppy for a month and walk so he may at least see other dogs. I will let him walk on the ground at 12mo.(this is how we do it, right?). I will be using sod on my balcony to potty train(i live on 1st floor) so he doesnt get exposed to parvo

    • @sophiathieringer723
      @sophiathieringer723 3 года назад

      She said the hardware store because there is no dogs.. if they don't have their vaccinations go places where there aren't dogs. People are just as fun as dogs!

    • @ertfgghhhh
      @ertfgghhhh 3 года назад

      @@sophiathieringer723 i know that but dog socialization is very important. Its hard having dogs that are dog aggressive. Amd 8weeks-12weeks is the most important time to keep dog to dog socialization. That is what makes things so tricky

    • @sophiathieringer723
      @sophiathieringer723 3 года назад

      @@ertfgghhhh Yeah, well then you have to know that the other dogs are vaccinated so that he/she can get any illnesses. After their 12 week vaccines though, they should be perfectly fine to go to dog parks, pet stores. etc.
