@C.L do you know if there was a album version of "Something in Water" like they're playing it? Or was that just for live shows?
@@kensmechanicalaffair that thang was bad!
@Mr.President sir: No studio version like this one but many different rehearsals & live versions- check this fantastic performance from 2015 !!!: ruclips.net/video/ZR6Ysr1SJUA/видео.html
When your basement rehearsal is better than anyone's concert.
Yesssssss!!!!!
ONLY 'The Purple💜Party Man 🥳' could pull that off bro! 😉👍
@@drumrboi72 ya damn right he can
AMEN! Not a whole lot of people know how many songs PRINCE WROTE that were made famous by other artists! Example is “Nothing Compares 2 U” sung by Sinead O’Connor! WE MISS YOU, DEAREST BOY GENIUS! 💕🕊🙏💜✝️✡️🌹🙋♀️🎼
Oh yes.....🕊💕🙏Fly High, Purple Dove.....you are so sorely missed 😢
So enjoyed this! Wish he was still here with us.
unfortunately if he was here we wouldn't be able to see this 😭😭😭😭😭
He is, I've been a fan since 78 and if you knew him you would know that too.
There will never be anyone as amazing as Prince
Well...c'mon. The singer for Danger Danger is more talented...
Agreed.
I think Bruno Mars is close to to Prince type talent.
He wrote a song called They'll never be another like me.
@@mr.cweights7097nah, not even close
I'll say it like he said, can't nobody f*ck with PRINCE and The Revolution 💜
#fact
Prince rehearsal sessions were better than most artists careers.
only if you are an insane Prince nut with no musical knowledge
@@thestrangemanreturns 😆
Lol
my heart hurts while watching this...I will always be in love with this man...Forever
Me to!!!
Yes😞
Me and you both
Same...4Ever!💜💜💜
Im not in luv with my boy but I feel you. They hate greatness.smh
I love the way he would take one of his great songs and make them even more amazing live!
I miss this brother and that Minneapolis sound that he put on the map. Music will never be the same ever again.
I literally go into tears when I see videos like this of prince.hewas my first favorite artist when I was kid at 12 yrs old because I understood his music so well.in the lyrics I felt the emotion of love and pain.and that made me a life long fan.loved all his music.he was a good person and did not deserve to die the way he did.alone.i never thought he would leave this earth before me.and for that I will be forever saddened by his death.
I was 10yrs old when PRINCE became my life.... I love/loved that man. When he died I cried hard for days
His rehearsals are more exciting than a lot of the new acts entire shows!!!
He puts up a show for no audience. Because it was not a show, it was a necessity. Pure genious!
Its a rehearsal so its going to resemble a show. A full dress rehearsal would be 100% just like a concert. As you know no musicians just run out onstage and wing it. Its all put together beforehand. So yup as you said, a necessity. Getting it right. Prince was a hard working dude and great bandleader. Fantastic guitarist and overall musician. Wish he were still here making music and inspiring others. RIP
I listened to a podcast about Prince when he was making the Sign O' The Times album. Levi Seacer, Jr, the bassist at the time told a story about when he wished Prince "Good luck" before a show and Prince admonished him before explaining, "if you rely on luck, your shows gonna suck." That's why he and his band practiced and practiced...and practiced some more. They were mad asf with the long hours but His Royal Badness elevated their game. Respect!!!
prince is the greatest musician ever
Greatest. Ever. Period.
Greatest that there was/is/ever will be.
The New Power Generation may have been better individual musicians, but no other backing band was as good as THE REVOLUTION. They were a perfect match for his music and the best at what they did. 🤙🏼
Exactly. Wendy and Lisa complimented his sound better. They brought more of a Joni Mitchell sound to his music, I think. It was richer with them than with the NPG in my opinion. Wendy's opening on Purple Rain is the best example. Prince lost that beauty when they were disbanded. Besides, The Revolution was more visually stunning with pretty women performing onstage with him instead of a bunch of dudes. Glad the movie immortalized them before they were gone!! Whew!!
Music is timeless 17 days could be played on the airwaves today and it should be!!
A masterclass.there will never be a man like this again.God gave him the ability to learn the rest was dedication and practice, the man lived and played music, and boy did we love it,thank you Prince from the bottom of my heart, you were the sound track to my life.it's been a blast.RIP Prince xxx
The Funk Lord we all knew and loved 💜💜💜💜🔥🔥
Wow... prince the legend
You hardcore fans are fantastic in your knowledge of his work, especially the earlier days. You truly are his family.
The fact that this was made--if you were there, you'd know that a video camera wasn't a regular item to have--then the fact that it survived is a miracle. No complaints about quality of image or sound. Awesome.
The Rehearsals are better than most live shows .Prince nah man more like A king.
Dunno, I saw his 1999 Tour and was TOTALLY blown away. And I’ve seen thousands of shows being 63 now.
If you have not seen Jimi Hendrix or Santana or Sly Stone or Parliament/Funkadelic or James Brown you would not understand how Prince became the modern-day Mozart, it was the combination of all the groups I named, mesmerizing!!!!
Also Little Richard on the piano, Stevie Wonder on the keyboard, Larry Graham on the bass, the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, Led Zeppelin falsetto, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles psychedelia too
He was absolutely AMAZING!
This is the true definition of a rockstar!
Everybody want fame and fortune this is a prime example how much work you have to put in. Talent was obvious but his worth ethic was unequal.....
Its almost like he had no choice in life, but to perform. You might say he was......Possessed.
I'd have been said time out. He worked and worked and worked some more.
That's how a Real Star does it ,his work was hard and serious... not like these lazy artist today, that's why we have No Superstars Now!!!!!
The man is special. You can't buy that, no one can teach you that.
He was amazing. He went way too soon. Miss him. RIP Prince ❤💕
Why do ppl keep saying, they miss his genius? It will never leave, it's frozen in time forever! He left it behind for the world to keep.
Funky!!!!
O' how i miss this brother.
1 of the best that ever picked up a Mic!
Da bess 2 pikk up eneefing musical.....
When it came to live performances prince was untouchable.hands down.everytime he rehearsed his music it was a live version not to a recording.so playing live was like a walk in paisley park for him.it was like a rehearsal concert as you can see here.even tho he is rehearsing it's like a concert.he was an artist that put his heart into his music.truly and believed only in the best performance
His recordings didn't do him justice, he was the type of artist that sounded ten thousand times better live, he's truly missed
There will never be another like him!!!!! ❤️
NEVER!
His dancing is soooooo underrated. He was quick. Full of energy. So fresh.
Everything about him is underrated. Many ppl don't realize what a genius he was
Damn I love this ,I was 10 yrs old , riding my bike having a blast in the summer of 84 , why'll Prince was practicing his ass off making Superstar hits for us, what a great time to be alive then ✌️💐
The 80s are irreplaceable
Me to! I was 9.. Miss the 80s terribly!!!!
I turned 10 that summer. 84 Olympics, fuckin about on my bike too, Prince on the radio, good times.

True. Dope!!
RIP to the legend
I love when Goes hard on When Doves Cry! I wish this was on the Purple Rain ☔️ deluxe box with this particular rehearsal version
prince was on top of the world in '84.....
absolute. totally agree.
"Glad I viewed this", raw footage takes one of my favorite jam's by his Royal Badness to an entirely different level "Nuff Said"!
Just think how many more of these exist, since he started recording these everyday since 1979, or 1980 after he got his 1st video camera.
So there are footage of him rehearsing with Dez Dickerson & Andre Cymone, I think Gayle Chapman was already replaced by Lisa at that point..
Yes, there is a gold mine somewhere..
I wonder if there is footage of Prince opening for Rick James on his "Fire It Up" tour, & The Rolling Stones.
That would b somethang 2C..
wow, 31:30 Erotic City is amazing! the solo he has.. love it! so much power to his sound.. feels like he is playing in a huge stadium already.. "fly" he says, "yea fly"! :) they did.. and i totally get why people said he was so fast on his feet and sneaking up on people ..literally out of nowhere.. I mean he's so lit! ..his feet and body moves are so sudden and fast as if the video is fast forward or sth.. his energy really spills into the whole space.. i love seeing him dance, he really feels the music through and through, very visceral for him..and when when doves cry comes on.. it sounds even cooler ..cause it is the basement and bad quality sound, but the song, the sound of it is just like hellou from another planet.. (i mean all his song are like that) but still ..so obvious it is a hit hit.. like the sound is just so different..the whole space just shifts..you can totally starts seeing the story and visuals the music paints.. and you are like.. yea! video maybe soon?!
Sun fankd himself 4 dat solo..... hilarious......
1984 I was 16 years old what beautiful time prince was the man he rehearses like James brown did you can actually feel elements of James brown in prince live performances his AMERICA' video blows me away every time
17 days one of my damn faves God I miss prince!!!!!!
Its amazing to see ppl play instruments. Its a 🎁 gift
Oh thank ya
There'll never be another like him ever
You don't know that
Wake up to see this!!! FEELS Like I’m in ORDINARY Times GOD BLESS YOU PRINCE 🙏🏼🌹🌹🌹🌹🎼🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤🎧🎧🥁🥁🎼🎼🎼🌹🌹😘
Damn, just damn... frigging awesome. P was able to change his material in a myriad of ways!!
I would like to thank you so much for posting concerts of Prince. I am a senior citizen & grew up listening to and loving Prince. It brings me so much joy watching. I wish I could give you a BIG HUG. Thousand kisses and hugs for making my days so joyous.
YES! PRINCE! MY FAVORITE ENTERTAINER! GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!👏❤😘👏❤👏❤😊👏❤
Wow, a rehearsal thats probably better than most shows.
Wooow! The King at work!!
PRINCE and The Revolution had more FUNK than what we heard in albums like Purple Rain, 1999, ATWIAD or even Parade. But good we have the deluxe albums where we can actually hear some Funky stuff that should have been more noticeable. I hope they can release ATWIAD album as a deluxe.
I'm certain They will.
;-)
u 4got? Parade
Parade will come before that I'm sure.
Prince and The Revolution isn't an actual album.
Love 17 days! 💜
Can never get enuff of this video here 💜✝️🙏🏾🕊 🕊 🕊 ✝️💜...The absolute LEGEND of music no doubt
Prince and I were born the same year and I saw him and Morris and Jesse downstairs of the Guitar Center on Lake st. Looking at recording gear about this time. Someone pointed him out to me - didn’t know who he was but soon thereafter.
The Revolution was so tight! Prince greatest music genius but The Revolution was such great band! Brown Mark on bass, Wendy Melvoin on guitar, Dr. Fink and Lisa Coleman on keyboards and Bobby Z. on drums! Thanks for this amazing upload!
When the greatest musical genius of our time plays his classic song ‘Erotic City’ and then incorporates ‘All The Critics Love You In New York’ into the guitar solo. ☔️🎸🐐
PRINCE: GOD OF MUSIC!
This is amazing. I have been to loads of concerts but he is the only one I get emotional to. I went to see the revolution in London last year and got emotional again. I love prince God blessand stay safe guys

This rehearsal version of Erotic City got me at work giggin!!!!!!! SUPER FUNKY!!!!!!
As these clips come out more and more. It makes me feel so much better that I can c these moments. And be even more reassured that cutting the cable was thee BEST move.
I just love this it wasn't played enough and got the credits it needed I just sings with it like I'm in the rehearsal with them I sing this when I'm cleaning 🎶 RIP my Love 💓 till one day we meet
I remember him back when they started out. He was so shy.💜☔
That Linn Snare... So awesome!
If the cover doesn't catch you with that smile Prince in a pair of blue jeans and jean jacket!! Nothing will !!
I read your comment C.L where you said that you saw this after Prince’s passing.
Well I saw a version too - but it was a bit like watching him perform in a snowstorm and then followed by a blizzard! The sound was fuzzy too.
This version sounds and looks brilliant.
From this version, there is so much that can be seen in Prince’s later performances.
This is a very important piece of history - I would love to see a video of Prince supporting The Rolling Stones and one supporting Rick James.
That is my Holy Grail.
As usual, thanks for the upload😊
sounds dramatic....maybe an ultra rare copy made 4 guys only believing in conspiracy theories coming from above with burning tongues ?😱......huh huh....I´m scared 😂

I have never seen him sing "free" until now, love it
That song makes cry every time I hear it!
Calling ALL those that love really really love Prince for real! Prince said that he wanted to be recognized for his song writing more then anything else. Now hes been inducted into a few Hall Of Fame's but there's one he deserves to be inducted into... THE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME!!! And he was not inducted there! So I called over there TODAY there in NY I got this woman on the phone so I asked her in a very sweet tone are you guys going to induct Prince? She told me no that there only inducting those that are alive!!!! 😳😳😳😳😳😳. I told her then why didn't you guys do that 6 years ago before he died??? And she got pissy on me and said I gotta go!!!! WHAT THE FREAK MAN????!!!!!! So what if they ALREADY inducted someone and they die do they then un induct them after there dead???? WTH??? SO he died he STILL was a great song writer and STILL that man gets sh*t on STILL!!!!! He never got any respect from these sh*theads!!! I need you guys to get the number from that site and you call them and tell them you want PRINCE IN THERE!!!! I'm gonna keep calling them till they put that man in there!!!!! Call them guys Prince deserves to be recognized he was an outstanding writer that was the one thing he wanted to be recognized most for and he deserves to be there!!!! Please spread the word and lets honer Prince with getting him in there who's with me on this???
For some strange reason this version of "17 days" is awesome. Something about the grainy muffled audio that gives it a different feel. I love it !
