You may want to watch a vid from an English gentleman, who moved to Poland for good, AND learned the language 😎 He's a very intelligent, warm, and inspiring kind of person. In the footage he speaks two languages, subtitles are available. Hope you'll enjoy it :)

Well we Polish love our roots for us 24 dec it is family day
Polish need we learn English to be a somene Mine father Learned because he was a Colonel of Polish army who come To Nato in 1999 www.gov.pl/web/national-defence/poland-in-nato-20-years im see how he strugle to achived even the Polish troops around Uk in 1941 Have the same Problem we try to became Better
I teach English in Poland and I also have students who are pensioners. Their main reason to learn English is to keep their brains and memory running. They have problems with remembering but that is not a problem for them. They are asking a lot of questions😊 I am happy when they do that
I am the same:))) and I love teaching adults, only adults. I appreciate their mature attitude to acquiring knowledge.

Christmas ads of allegro are always so touching and warming ❤
Allegro made awesome series with Polish legends!! Highly recocmended !
Good idea. Some good writers were working in this project (for example famous Polish horror author Łukasz Orbitowski), famous director Tomasz Bagiński, famous actors and musicians. This movies are pure art.
When it was on Polish TV some six years ago I couldn't watch it without tears, so moving it was. Once I cried so much after watching this spot that my dad who's just entered the room asked what happened 😉 But it's nice that this spot sparked such enthusiastic reactions abroad. Allegro & Mr Mazurkiewicz (the actor playing that elderly man) did a wonderful job
" I couldn't watch it without tears, so moving it was" - 100% true! Today too! Every time true!
@aleksandra60452
Yes, it sure is sad. When the child get a little older, she will accuse her father and grandfather of ra+ism!
My grandpa started to learn english when he retired. I think that he was 65 then (it was 1993 or 92). And the big reason was, that he bought Commodore 64 and he wanted to play games and most of them were in english 🙂. After a few years he was able to translate to polish almost everything that he read. His passion for computer games was also a great training for me, because i had to help him with the translations when he played. I miss my grandpa 🥲
great story... fantastic grandpa
@@CarriettaCarrieWhite Sorry, are you from the Netherlands? I noticed Dutch people often say "to learn" when they should say "to teach" ("I will learn you [how to do smth]" is my favourite example). I think it's because in Dutch "to learn" and "to teach" is the same word: "leren", so it'd be easy to forget that in English these are two completly defferent words, especially when one is so simillar to the Dutch one. (Well, in Polish it's also one word, but "uczyć" does not sound like any English word, so.)
I would highly recommend Allegro Legendy Polskie. It retells Polish legends in a modern day setting.
Yes 👍
I hope you would watch more allegro films. They always gives me a lot of emotions. Now I'm crying again... Good luck with learning Polish~
I`m curious of your reacions for other Allegro Achristams films...
@worldcitizen181
To dzisiaj takie rzadkie.
I started crying as soon as the ad started, cause I already knew the ending. I love it, they did such a wonderful job with this commercial
You' ve giving me warm feelings when you say : I love Poland❤
Actually, it's one of the best Polish commercials. Not many are even good enough. This was a real masterpiece when it came out. I'm wondering, you're not crying, I always do at the end. It's that sad and sweet. I'd love to watch more that meaningful commercials ☺️
Learning new languages actually prevents dementia so it's good at any age. :) Fingers crosses for your Polish lessons Rob!
Can you tell the story how it all began with your fascination with Poland? What was the reason of your first visit and why was it something more than a single adventure? If you have already explained it in a previous film, please, give me a link.
I wish you all the best. I appreciate your films very much. Don't give up learning Polish.
Please please please tell the story
My wife, who's chinese, is learning polish, and she was also posting those sticky notes everywhere, and it made me crazy....you open your fridge sticky notes.. you open your wardrobe- sticky notes.... plot twist...5 years later she can still barely say anything
It’s the effort that counts 😂 she must be wonderful ❤
My grandparents (70 years old) learned English, because they love travelling. They went to “uniwersytet trzeciego wieku” for 2 years, or maybe 3
I use this commercial in my Polish classes every year around Christmas and my students always love it!
There's actually many more reasons to learn languages than just communicate with people. First of all it's a great excercise for four brain and improves memory. Then, you get priceless knowledge about languages in general. Yes, it is frustrating sometimes, especcialy if it's a difficult language and you know nothing about languages from that gropup. But the bigger challenge the more satisfaction when you see you progress or find a connection and things are getting logicly whole. I'm learning Finnish, which is even harder than Polish and... yes, it's a great feeling when I discover where certain things come from. Fingers crossed!
Aww, I remember this ad, it is so sweet, remiinds me of my grandfather, I had a strong bond with, he never learnt english, but still he had A chance to visit England when his great grandson was born, do this ad always remiinds me of him
It was proper heart warming!
Nie oglądałem tego filmu allegro. Jest genialny.
Rob powodzenia w nauce polskiego. Połamiesz sobie język nie raz i nie dwa.
Ja też swój łamię, ucząć się angielskiego :)
I am getting some serious headaches during my lessons! haha
@@RobReacts1 either way, learning is good for your brain!
@@grzegorzdziedzic9592 and for yours... 😋
@@RobReacts1
Do you have regular lessons, Rob?
@@Mario-xr3jo I have literally just had my 4th lesson. Got another 2 planned for next week and will be going most of the summer. A lovely lady is helping me as she teaches foreigners Polish :)
I love this ad. I used it once in my English lesson when we had a discussion with the students about Christmas commercials and buying Christmas presents. Notes are a great idea, but after some time, they may not only annoy your wife but you as well 😉 And btw, we call a computer mouse "mysz" or "myszka komputerowa" (the diminutive form is also commonly used).
Crying again watching it... This ad was very famous when it appeared, for being so crazy touching :)
I love this advertisement. My eyes are full of tears always when I watch that
I remember this ad and each time it gave me that warm feeling too.. So moving 🥰
pijama is even more funny then you think because we have word for it: piżama and pronunciation is much closer to english one then using J sound :)
Its a name from Urdu and before then Persian
exactly, it's double funny
"Pyjama" is another version of "pidżama"/"piżama" in Polish, used by older people.
I learned English playing games in English even when i could choose Polish language. Now i watch everything from English speaking countries in English and sometimes i switch on subtitles if i don't know some word. I have no problem with understanding almost everything in English but i got problem with speaking :)
*Polish
Good luck on your language journey!
Such a beautiful commercial. Just found it this year. This is how commercials and ads should be! Love the message!
I learn English like this Gentleman and this is really work
I love this message commercial, best one ever done…Alegro know how to touch hearts…❤
Rob, your video made me cry. I always cry watching this commercial. I teach English in Poland.
Zawsze płaczę jak oglądam tę reklamę...😢
I went to South Downs College to learn English.I loved it so much .I started when I was 44 and I proud of it .I finished Level 2and I think the age doesn’t metres when you want to achieve you can.Good luck Rob you can do it 👍
yes
Bawling my eyes out. So beautiful.
Thanks for reacting to this. What a heartfelt video.
Rob, there are some foreign youtubers that have become really fluent in Polish. One of the most popular is a Japanese guy, running channel "Ignacy z Japonii ". Now he got married to a Polish girl and lives in Poland , but his Polish was amazing before he even came here for the first time. Ignacy learned Polish by himself and believe me, he is so professional now so that he could teach Polish linguistics to Poles at Universities.
So, there is a bar set high, but everything is possible 😆😁
And the second issue which I wanted to raise before- Ignacy started to teach Japanese to Poles and his channel has evolved from being just about Poland to spreading Japanese culture and history and I think it's great. So, when you made that film about Polish folk dance and mentioned the English folk dance I though it would be a good idea if you added some info about English history and culture for example about English folk dances . I would love to see some videos with your comparisons of Polish and English food, dances, sports, approach to work, humour etc. We all would learn "both ways" , just as Ignacy does.
"professional" is correct spelling... 😊
@@Mario-xr3jo there were more spelling mistakes- corrected and professional now :-)
@@dorotabarbowska2184
If you correct your previous mistakes then my comments don't make sense... 🙂.
@@dorotabarbowska2184
But people who read our conversation at some later time may be surprised why I correct your spelling if there aren't any spelling mistakes in your (corrected) posts...
And your vision can improve if you pay attention to what you're reading and writing...
@@dorotabarbowska2184
Well, it only takes to say "thank you" to appreciate someone's help without making corrections.
Other people won't understand my remarks about incorrect spelling, etc. if they see everything in others' comments is perfect.
1. You should try "Legendy Polskie" (Polish Legends) from Allegro. They're on YT with English subs on Allegro channel. Those are kinda modern versions of old Polish legends, like Mr. Twardowski, or Dragon of Wawel, or baba jaga, and so on. My favourite video is Basilisk and that one I recommend.
2. That may sound silly but try talking to Yourself while doing daily stuff. Like "Idę do kuchni" (I'm going to kitchen), "Muszę posprzątać pokój" (I have to clean the room), "Gdzie jest mój kubek?" (Where's my cup/mug?), and so on.
Made me cry
That Jestem was very good for a British Man
I love your enthusiasm towards learning Polish. Respect! and Powodzenia!
kocham Twoje filmy, Robert :)
Cheers
OMG! 😁 I love this allegro movie 🥰🤩 My favorite! 🥰🤩😁
I taught my son to spell at an early age using labels for everything in the house. My bf's husband asked if I was going senile and needed the notes to remember what things were called. My friend (English school teacher) and myself just looked blankly at him and burst out laughing.
One of the most heart warming ad. I love almost all of ads from Allegro ❤
I've seen this ad like 100 times and it still makes me emotional and put tears in my eyes 🥹 I really like your videos, I'm leaving a sub 😉 Have a lovely day!
HI Rób I would recommend some polish comedies like ......Czterdziestolatek czyli rodzina w domu...Nie lube poniedziałku...Poszukiwany poszukiwana ... !!!!!!
...
WOW, good luck Rob with learning!
I have been binging on you videos lately! great stuff.:) As far as learning Polish words, I find mind maps written on A4 papers with colors, drawings etc. the best for learning vocabulary (I am now learning Turkish from scratch and learnt English with them in high school)-I remember those English mind maps years later! I usually blue tac them on my closet, or next to my monitor or wherever you look at often. Hope that helps, greeting from Poland, have fun in Australia:D
Keep on learning, Rob! It'll only get easier and more fun as you go :)
Hi Robert, always fun to watch. Keep going. I am watching you from Chicago.
maybe you've already seen it, if not, Polish legends made also by Allegro, definitely :)
Respect to you Mr Rob ❤
And for your older version Mr Robert 😉
Cześć 🇵🇱😜 awww this Allegro movie touches me 🥺 thank You 🤗
It's nice to get to know new cultures, in Poland we keep books or porcelain on the shelves, I see that in England shoes are kept :P
Allegro made usually a good Christmas commercial ...this one is probably one of the best.
It's a quite interesting topic for an episode on YT.👍
Brawo Ty
Yup, the punch-line got me teared up.
Loved your introduction "Cześć chłopaki" (Hi, boys). I know you wanted to say "Hi guys"... Off the top of my head, I can't think of the more correct word.
Anyways, loved the video.
haha yea it was Hi Guys. I would say guys is more used now for a group of people than boys :D What about pa pa at the end ;)
@@RobReacts1 You said "Pa pa" in a perfect polish way! 🙂
@@RobReacts1 You could say "Cześć, ludziska!" - "Hi, folks!" instead. Or "Witam, moi drodzy" - "Hello, my dears". Good luck in learning Polish seriously - seriously. ;)

this ad always makes me cry
When this add came out I just had my baby here in UK ( British hubby) and I couldnt go and just see my family and due to emergency with my brother daughter my oarents were unabke to visit me. I watch that and I cried.
Yeah. Poster notes definitely willl help. I did use that tip when I was learning English and Norwegian. You will be familiar with many words much quicker. And I love that commercial BTW :)
You can try saying "Subskrybujcie i lajkujcie".
A lot of Polish youtubers borrow English 'Like' and Polonize it into 'Lajkuj'.
Remember though: "Ty lajkuj", "wy lajkujcie", "on, ona, oni lajkują" because in Polish nothing can be simple 😂
and then surprise " Kocham cie Dziadku"
Hi, I really like watching your videos and thank you for your interest in Poland.
I'm sure you'll be able to learn Polish because you have a talent for it.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm learning English now and it's not that easy either :)
Warm greetings from Wrocław!
Haha am glad its not just me suffering with learning then :D
I can't wait for a Polish-speaking Rob 👍 good luck mate 👊
Rob I hope to see a lot of stickers on items behind you next time 😉. Keep going.
I'm watching this for a third time... always touching....
O! I can teach you Polish. I love learning languages and how others learn languages. I'm actually learning English and I live in England. And your videos can help me ;)
Super❤ Robert
I encourage you to write down the first page in the form of situational sentences. You will learn the meaning of contextual words and future usage.
Rob, by saying 'Cześć chłopaki' you said hello only to boys:P
Robert is a great name.
haha I prefer Rob
@@RobReacts1Just watch out for the police 😜
Looking forward to your chapters in Polish...
After all, you must expect some progress in your learning.
Hi Rob,
Perhaps you could get in touch with Patrick Nay who moved to Poland a few years ago (I think he lives in Warsaw). He’s got many videos about Poland on YT and he can speak Polish quite well (yes it’s possible). Good luck in your linguistic journey- you can do it.
It's like a John Lewis advert at Christmas in the UK, just better. We don't do Christmas adverts.
Rob,
I can imagine how Polish grammar is difficult for a foreigners ,that's I admire your willingness to learn....
I'm learning Dutch currently and although knownig English quite well and some German helps a lot, they use these throat sounds which are impossible to repreat for me without hurting my throat. So I feel for you knowing you need to struggle with all those ć, ź, szcz, czcz etc.
I cry every time I see this video, even though I know it by heart
damn, you've really got quite good at polish pronunciation
congratulations man
Mr Robert - yes, this is a good idea 😊 this is my answer 😊
i cry everytime...
Since the 6th grade of primary school I had english lessons, which is about 20 years ago and I still have headaches:)
So don't worry. You can do it.
Post-it notes work well, my son placed they everywhere years ago, when he started to learn english 😉
Nice reaction, thanks! I wonder how are your Polish lessons :-)
Absolutly Great. I AM 67 yea4s old, andI am yor fun.😊😊
4:46 It's even funnier because "Pyjamas" in Polish is Piżama/Pidżama. So he overcorrect something that doesn't even need to be corrected since Polish has the same word.
Older people are sometimes used to say "pyjama" in Polish.
An early congrats to your soon 30k subs Rob!
Thanks mate! 19 subs short :D
Then next stop should be Legendy polskie by Allegro like this commercial : Legendy polskie Twardowsky some middleage story 😆
To trzeba przyznać Allegro, że w reklamy to oni umiejo dobrze
