I use my clothes until they are pretty much starting to disintegrate. First I wear them anywhere, then they become pajamas, and finally they end up as rags for mopping the floor or washing the car.
Love this. I'm devastated when clothes don't fit anymore. I'm super picky when it comes to design, functionality, feel, so I repair them and I honestly never get tired of the clothes I own. I still wear stuff I bought in high school. I hope you include fixing bras 😂
Time to start Fixing Fashion this is an amazing and excellent informative video that showed how to choose fashionable dresses and collect it, greetings and respect.
Great idea. About 5 years ago I started to put things on paper, how to recycle/upgrade all kind of products. I called it "druhý živoť", which is Slovak for "second life". I was thinking of furniture, wood, metal, hand- and electrical tools, things for the household. In fact everything people easily throw away when (a small part of it) is broken or just out of fashion. I wasn't thinking of clothes that time. But anyhow, I didn't get "my" project from the ground, which had many reasons. But it's never too late to start with anything. The first real step is the hardest. I wish you good luck with the fixing fashion project.
Love this new leg. Look forward to looking at the platform. It would be great to have dinner popular RUclipsrs like the sorry girls or best dressed (sure there's tons of others too) promote this ☺️
Да,вещей много разнообразных,мне понравилось,что даже не очень пригодные вещи после переделки выглядят модно и нестандартно! Спасибо за интересную информацию!
So love this initiative! I have been making my own clothes from thrift shop material for over a year now and absolutely love it! #whatelseispossible? #howdoesitgetanybetterthanthis?
Это очень интересное и необычное видео. Как всегда, ваш пост был отличным. Я получил полезную информацию, посмотрев этот фильм, и он мне понравился. Я очень интересуюсь модой и одеждой. Спасибо.
Indeed. It would be enough: 1. to take care of things, possibly repairing whatever is possible and 2. buy less, spend more on having the ONE suit\shirt of the life... like good old times. I'm still wearing things from my schooldays and I'm well above 30yo. In 1915, my 20yo grandpa ended his days in a war-field on the Alps, his last message written to the family was "please repair my pants"... the only pants...
Zippers are a huge problem. They are designed with scheduled obsolescence. If you can help people learn to fix zippers that aren't designed to be, you can cut down on a lot of waste
Don't worry, there will be people who start to repair clothes and sell them as well. And I think there are second hand clothes shops everywhere already. Also in that case you don't buy new clothes.
But how will you make this trend last? It kind of needs to become a habit i gess. Teaching people how to do it is a good start but this won’t fix fashion if people just started to buy these type of shirt at walmart. I remember seeing a lot of mended jeans in the 2000”s. Not sure that it fixed the problem with fashion.
Wow. Some of it really makes you look homeless though. I am all for re-using items, personally I use old tee-shirts as rags (I am a mecanic). Good idea I think on the whole.
One way we can improve the world is to redefine our ideas about homelessness. If we wear patched clothes as fashion, it helps people who can’t afford new clothes fit in. We should stop letting rich people tell us that poor people are bad.
I appreciate the sentiment, and I fully support the concept of teaching people to repair things, and by all means to inspire people to make their own stuff. But I call utter bullshit on this. Most of these examples look disheveled (sorry ppl, I know you worked hard), but my entirely subjective personal taste aside, it doesn't address the initial problem - "what I have now is not good enough and I need something else". *Fashion*, >is< the problem. It's a problem with (well, duh) clothing, as well as it is with electronics, cars or a myriad of other things. It's fashionable to have thinner and thinner phones so battery life was quietly sacrificed to where it's become normal that a phone needs charging every day.
I bought my second-hand (my first ever) smartphone 4 years ago and it still does the job. I bought my second-hand laptop 5 years ago, and it still does the job. It's in peoples mind that they have to buy the newest version of everything.
This is an excellent point! Over production and hyper consumerism are the real problems. I think the examples shown here fit a very niche aesthetic and i think the goal is to make them look very obviously mended in order to normalize mending itself. It’s definitely possible to renew clothing in a less noticeable way tho(:

This is the way
I thought only Brazilian people do this
Time to collect this dirty rags to make new fashionable clothes ♻
@@4diel - Nope! Anyone (but especially people with less money) raised with a "no waste" mentality will do this.

I'm not so sure about this one, getting people to stop shopping is the hard part.
It depends on the people.
wwwwoooooowwwwww!!!
What happened with phone blocks
Are you familiar with Kristina Rodabough? She is doing similar things.
i buy 2 sets of shirts a year. one set of shoe every other year. a pair of pants every second or third year. a jacket on average once every 5 years.

Yeah, much easier than improving the world by eradicating homelessness...
Great tutorial ! I always wanted to look like homeless guy under the bridge ! With the help of your tutorial my dream came trough !

Can you make your own phonebloks? You seem to have the right idea and a Kickstarter would be sure to reach a money goal
