    It makes sense to wait to buy work clothes, but what about interview attire? How formal is the interview process in Australia for jobs in the bartending/service, retail, etc. industries? Would you recommend packing something “modest” for an interview and how casual can I dress without appearing unprofessional?

    • @WelcometoTravel
      @WelcometoTravel  2 года назад +7

      Any bartending/service/retail jobs tend to be quite casual here in Australia in terms of the interview process (they care more about you and your personality!). Can't go wrong with smart casual though - we always say dress in the style of the venue/shop you are applying for so they can see you suit the vibe. There is also absolutely nothing wrong with asking the hiring manager over the phone what attire you should wear for a trial shift too. If you'd like to keep it simple, some black jeans and a t-shirt/shirt does the job for any interview over here.

    Also you said not to bring boots - did you mean walking boots or stylish knee high boots 😂? me and my partner are big walkers and have hiking boots, so just wanted to check what your thoughts are as to whether we pack those? (mine are fairly new so hoping wasn't a waste of money). Thanks

    • @WelcometoTravel
      @WelcometoTravel  Год назад +1

      Hey Rohan, if you're not having luck with Kathmandu I definitely recommend checking out Osprey. They're another fantastic brand and most of the 70L ones will zip open the full way so you can still access everything at once rather than the old school top access ones that get annoying. I believe it's also the Farpoint style that has an attachable day pack that zips on and off to the main large backpack. Super convenient

    Love this video! What is the largest backpack that could be taken on as a carry-on? I really don't want to check luggage but will be travelling for a year so I'm conflicted

    • @WelcometoTravel
      @WelcometoTravel  2 года назад +1

      This depends entirely on the airline rules, they will specify a weight limit (which for carry-on) on international flights tends to be between 10-15kg, and other more budget airlines will also have a size limit. If you're planning on traveling Australia for a year I don't think just bringing just carry-on luggage will allow you to bring everything you need.

    Do you think I'll need this special footwear for swimming on any beaches in Australia? Or it's usually sandy and safe?
    Thanks 😊

    • @WelcometoTravel
      @WelcometoTravel  9 месяцев назад

      You don't need any special footwear for swimming, but you can rent a stinger suit for swimming, if you go on a boat tour in either Arlie Beach or Cairns, since there are a lot of jellyfish in those areas :) Other than that, a few of the cities on the east Coast have Lagoons you can swim in.

    so your "work" that you mention is to go backpacking?
    i.e. you wont be operating from a home Base and would be constantly traveling for work?

    • @WelcometoTravel
      @WelcometoTravel  2 года назад

      Are you familiar with the Working Holiday? You can travel and work whenever you like over a period of time so when you're not backpacking you can choose to stop and work anywhere in Australia. Employment opportunities range anywhere from hospitality, retail, customer service, corporate work, farmwork, trades etc etc.

    One question I've been thinking about since I'm going there in September. I've seen that you're allowed to bring medication for 3 months. But how is it with the pill? does that count or can I bring a year supply? Thank you!

    • @natalieweinert298
      @natalieweinert298 2 года назад

    • @WelcometoTravel
      @WelcometoTravel  2 года назад

      You can bring as much as you want, it depends entirely on what your Doctor at home will prescribe you in the one go. Customs/immigration to Australia do not care about how much medication you bring over and especially not for the pill if you pack 12 months worth. Hope that helps!

    • @WelcometoTravel
      @WelcometoTravel  2 года назад

      Hey Mariah, where did you read this? If that's coming from an Australian Government official website then it's definitely not enforced. In regards to the pill I know for a fact this would not be an issue as everybody travels with more than 3 months worth because otherwise it would be very unrealistic for customs to enforce something so unacceptable 😅
